What's the best/most versatile carrying case

I'm still new to the hobby and I'm hoping to be able to bring my girls out now that the weather is finally getting better here.

 

I've been checking out the one from Volks as well as the larger ones from Cool Cat.

 

I'd Ideally like to carry 2 girls with a few essentials, although they don't state it I've read you can fit two DD in the Volks case so I'm assuming the same would be true from Cool Cat as it's a tad wider.

 

Has anyone tried these out? What are your likes and dislikes? Are there any other options I should consider?

The CoolCat one is black on the inside - that is the number one thing I feel like I need to point out.

 

Other than that, the carrier bags have pockets inside for little things, a doll stand, wigs, etc.

 

The newer Volks ones (basically all of the ones that they have on their site now) have deeper soft pockets so you can fits quite a bit in there, but if they are empty you can just flatten them down.

 

I have 3 of the Volks bags - why? 2 in black for my hubby and I each, and one in the brown tweed pattern from a few years ago that I use when I bring my dolls out in the summer. We tend to leave our doll bags in a pile off to the side and the black bags get really warm. I'm just strange that way

 

I can fit 3 dolls into the Volks carrier bag - 2 facing laying down, and then one on top laying the opposite direction. I will either put face guards on them all or wrap the one on top in a white pillowcase. I usually remove their shoes and tuck them into a pocket, and then strap them all in nice and cozy with the straps inside the bag.

 

When I'm only bringing one doll I will usually wrap her in a pillowcase and put her in a tote bag in a sitting position, and if toss in a few things into the bag (a bottle of water, a camera) then I'll out a face guard on her just in case.

 

How I pack works for me because I don't drive, and usually take transit to our doll meets so I try to make things compact but secure. If you can pop your doll bag in the trunk of a car and not worry about bumping into people on the bus then you may pack your dolls differently.

ok, I didn't realize the inside of the CoolCat bags were black. I don't plan on storing my dolls in them but still with everything I've heard about staining I'd rather not take any chances.

 

Well fitting 3 dolls in a single case is a bonus. Knowing myself I'm very will likely expand my family and having room for growth is always good.

 

Seeing as public transit in my area is awful I'm looking at a case for ease of transport more than safety. I hadn't thought about it but since you mentioned it I should probably get some face guards just in case.

You can just wrap your girls in a white towel or some other blanket or something before putting them in the bag. I have a volks one which has the white lining, but I like a towel for padding anyway. Prevents as much movement and jostling.

I will likely be doing that as well. I was originally thinking of getting one of the wrapping blankets after seeing the pics in this thread viewtopic.php?f=34&t=14045 but opted not to just because of the price. I'm sure I'll be able to find a white towel at home. If it helps to hold everything in place I'm crossing my fingers it will also reduce the time I spend re-arranging the outfits and wig once I get to my destination.

I use a baseball bat bag and wrap my ladies in a white sheet.

Call me impatient but since no one seemed to have any complaints about the Volks case I just ordered one.

 

Now comes the long and painful wait for my new stuff.
