Question about hybrids and such~

Recommended Posts

Hello, everyone~

I'm not sure if this would belong here or if it would belong in the obitsu section. Though, it is questions and answers..soo..

So, I have a few questions.

My first question is, would a Dollfie Dream head fit on a 55cm male obitsu body without any type of mods? On the parabox website, it says something about the steel base? What does that mean? I'm thinking about making a male Dollfie Dream, so I thought I'd get some answers before I went for it.

Second question is, if the head does fit on the body, what about the hands? Do the Dollfie Dreams and the 55cm Obitsu male body have the same mechanism? The peg system?

Last question I have for now is, how tall are the Dollfie Dream Sister bodies? Are they also 55cm? ^^

Thank you for taking out the time answer my questions, I appreciate it.

I was actually looking into this a while back and as far as I can tell, yes you can fit a DD head on an Obitsu body, you will however need to attach the neck piece from the Obitsu. I'm not 100% sure if the base bodies come with this or not but they are relatively cheap directly from the parabox site.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think any permanent changes are required for the head to fit.

The Steel base is exactly what it sounds like. The magnetic feel of the doll hold tight to the steel base allowing the doll to stand, you can apparently do some pretty awesome poses because of this.

I won't be able to answer the had questions unfortunately. I'm also curious myself to know the answer.

To answer your last question the DDS bodies are a tad smaller than the DD. Roughly 51-52cm, I couldn't find an official measurement.

Hope this helps.

Thank you for responding.

So, what do you mean attach the neck piece from the obitsu? I don't really own any obitsu or dollfie dreams, so I'm not exactly sure what you're talking about.

After some searching for the place I read this turns out it was posted here. As far as I know all the Obitsu use the same internal structure so if you're planning on getting a 45, 50 or 55cm body it's the same process.

Check out viewtopic.php?f=21&t=6851&start=0

There are a few pictures posted of the entire process

I have hybrided four DD heads onto Obitsu bodies, and have used the method ions mentioned. The thread I referred to was originally posted here by Deux Silences, but the photo links seem to be down.

I did buy some slightly longer screws from the hardware store so the pieces were easier to reattach.

The first two heads I did were just an 07 and an 05, so I trimmed out part of the excess vinyl inside of the heads. But when I put my Youmu Konpaku twins together, I didn't want to alter the limited heads. Using the longer screws made it possible for me to assemble them without cutting out any vinyl.

It really does get easier the more often you do it!

The Obitsu neck piece used in the 40cm-50cm bodies and the neck piece used in the 55cm body utilize the same mechanical attachment mechanisms. However the neck piece used in the 55cm is longer than the one used in the 40cm-50cm bodies.

Also the internal skeletons for the 40cm-50cm and the 55cm bodies are almost entirely different.

As for hands, the structure inside the DD hands is much larger than that used in the 55cm Obitsu. If I remember correctly the pegs on the DD and Obitsu wrist joints are different diameters. You can fit DD hands on the Obitsu wrist joint by stuffing the hand with eye putty, clay, or some similar material to hold the hand in place.

I have a 55cm male. I use the male hands he came with because they look a bit more masculine even though they are a bit smaller. He is about a cm shorter than a DDS, but he has broader shoulders so he just looks like he's about to go through a growth spurt. Since my guy is supposed to be in middle school it works for me.

Oh wow, interesting. Perhaps there's some way to mod the diameter of the wrist joint(?)

Here is my obitsu girl with DD hands. As you can see they look perfectly fine.

I made them fit by putting some bluetack / eyeputty around the wrists and wrapping it with transparent tape (without the tape the putty won't stay in place while putting a hand onto the wrist).

That's really interesting. o-o But, is there a way to mod it so that it'll fit with the need of putty and tape? By the way, cute dollies.

Thank you ^_^ Well, did you mean "without the need"? I don't know of any other modding method - I chose the one that seemed to be the easiest

Oh yes. I meant without need. I see, I'll have to see then.
