marikamira Posted May 3, 2016 I'm new to DDs and today I was trying on black converse-ish Kaleidoll shoes on my girl, and noticed that they leave stains (They came off immediately when I wiped them though). I know that a lot of people wash dark DD clothing before putting it on their girl, but is it possible to wash shoes? I just don't want to accidentally ruin them. If not, I'll just have her wear socks and such (I'll have her wear socks either way). foo Posted May 3, 2016 I usually line the inside of shoes with DD protection tape. Stuff can still stain through the tape though, so you have to be careful.

Do you think masking tape + socks would work? At home: Kanna<3(Custom DDH-01 MDD NS) *Seiya-kun is getting reshelled into the new SmD Eiji*
foo Posted May 4, 2016 You mean regular masking tape? The only problem with regular yellow stuff is that the glue on those are horrible, in terms of how sticky and difficult they are to remove. You can get proper masking tape from a paint store, but you'd be best off with Volks' stain prevention tape. Tape + socks does help, and two layers of tape also helps. I was going to use 3M scotch masking tape, I think that won't be so bad. Thanks for the tips! Still wondering if I should give the shoes a wash, though... You can wash human shoes, so I see no reason why you wouldn't be able to wash DD shoes. Nine times out of 10 they're made of the same stuff, just smaller scale. Especially since you said they're Converse/canvas shoes. They should be fine to toss in the wash on a gentle setting. Just take the same precautions you'd take when washing human shoes. Ok, I will try washing them, then. Really want to prevent staining, especially because they're really cute shoes and I want my DD to wear them often! jadepixel Posted May 6, 2016 I'd be careful if the shoes are black with any white fabric, the lighter color fabric could pick up black dye in the wash and come out grey, purple, or yellowish. Also remove any light color shoelaces before you try it. I haven't tried it on shoes but white duct tape is what I use to cover dark threads/tags inside clothes. I'd suggest trying that before washing the shoes. jadepixel doll lab jadepixel eye shop
