Hello!

I finally have my first Dollfie Dream coming soon - a Hatsune Miku. I was pretty bummed I didn't win the last lottery, but now they have her at Volks USA and I was able to get her

 

I'm not new to dolls - I have a few BJD's, a Smart Doll (Kizuna), and a Obitsu 60cm (Gretel head.) Also I collect Pullip, Ever After High, and American Girl dolls.

 

I primarily like to make clothes for my dolls. I like photography too. This summer I'm going to start practicing doing face-ups on vinyl so that I can make my own DD later.

You'll love Miku, I'm sure. She's a gorgeous sculpt. I had to have one (well, her head) after seeing user photos. Funny how Volks fails at making their girls shine, but as soon as they're in the hands of the public we get to see how pretty they really are.

 

If you have other dolls (especially smartdoll, which is another vinyl) there's probably not much you need to learn specific to DD care, so all I can say is I hope you enjoy your new girl. And welcome to the community. ^^

Hi Eustia - I definitely got Miku because of her head. Well, it also helps that she has an SS bust - it's way easier for me to make sewing patterns for the smaller busts. I also got the Senbonzakura set for her, so that'll be fun having the alternate eyes/wig.

 

I feel like Volks polishes their photos to the point that it detracts from the beauty of the dolls. It's a problem with both the DD and SD lines. I recently got a Dear SD Nana, and while I'm totally happy with her, the promo photos are crap compared to the fan photos or seeing in person. I didn't even really really really want a Miku until I saw her here. I think Danny Choo has the right idea taking just tons of cute photos of his dolls doing all kinds of things.

Welcome to the forum, zaylea! Always nice to meet another DD fan who also enjoys the SD dolls. (I'm waiting for my Snow Miku to arrive at Volks USA later this year. Snow Miku is a genuine favorite of mine.) There are a bunch of pictures here on DD that will inspire & awe you which you've already noted. Looking forward to see what you'll post when you're ready to share some of yours with us!

Snow Miku is adorable, but I'm going to keep holding out hope they'll release a Sakura Miku some day. Pullip has a Snow Miku and Sakura Miku version, why can't we?

I've heard rumblings that Sakura was a logical follow-up, and it would be easy money for them. For me, it would be another "must get". ....And afterwards my OCD traits would niggle at me to get the original Miku just to "complete the set". See, I told you it would be easy money!
