Clickwar or Lottery?

Recommended Posts

With Dolpa 35 items going on sale soon with via clickwar and Kyoto13 Collection items going on sale via lottery on VolksUSA, I thought to ask the question, do you prefer clickwars or lotteries? Would you rather race against others to secure the items you want or enter within a time frame to see whether or not it you won what you wanted? I feel like the answers to this question is going to be obvious , but I still want to here people's opinions on this.

Personally, I prefer lotteries since I never like being rushed for anything. Also, as a video game collector, I know who it feels to not purchase something fast enough. I've never purchased items from volks during a clickwar or lottery, but in the future, if I can, I hope to avoid clickwars.

P.S- When I ask this question, I'm mostly referring to the DD and SD related items (like clothes and props) and not the dolls themselves, but I guess the question can apply to them as well.

I prefer lotteries because i can't participate in click wars at work, and even if it happens outside work hours I hate watching the clock. I will ask my boyfriend to if I want it desperately and it's during work. That helped me get a body suit for Miku.

For extremely popular items I feel like I have a better chance with lottery. Or at least a more fair chance. That might just be an illusion though. If I don't win then oh well money I won't have to spend.

Lotteries, though I don't like when they drag out the process. It sucks to see what you're after come into stock elsewhere while you're still waiting for lottery results, though I think Volks is much better about this than they used to be. Click wars I don't even bother with.

Lottery.

I still remember the first event of VolksUSA's that I attempted to get some items from. It consisted of hitting refresh for an hour after the designated event time, eventually managing to have the webstore remain stable long enough for me to get an item into my cart, only for the item to become sold out and removed from my cart before I could complete checkout.

I did manage to get one item during that first event. And because of how that worked, I came to the conclusion in any event like that there would only be the opportunity to get one and only one item per event. Anything else would sell out too quick to add multiple items to cart and then get checked out. Of course, then there's how unstable the site inherently is to contend with on top of that.

When things switched to a lottery, that was a far superior shopping experience. I could take my time making my selections, and enter for everything I was interested in. And when my winning entries would come up, I wasn't in a mad dash to enter my information.

Another reason is that I've had fairly good luck with VolksUSA lotteries while I've had very poor luck with clickwars. The past few lotteries I've managed to get lucky on all the items I've entered for. So with the lotteries I feel like I have a genuine chance, whereas with the clickwars I don't think I'd ever be able to score anything ever again. Plus, I don't want to waste my Saturday afternoons on VolksUSA clickwars.

Neither. Open Sale Period. Everybody who orders one gets one, especially if you're going to make people wait 6+ months for you to make the dolls.

Oh I wish. I'd be happy even if it was all just pre-order because at least I'd know I'd eventually get it without having to get gouged in 2nd hand market.

dealing with pre-orders in the model train world, that's what I like. Lionel calls it Built To Order. If I pre-order it, and they get enough orders to build , then I will get one. I don't mind waiting a year or more as I know I'm getting it. But this will be my 1st time for either lottery or clickwar, so I'll find out what I like.

But speaking of pre-orders, Lionel's site says some things will be in next month. Between trains and dolls, my wallet is going to feel some pain.

I've never gotten any clickwar dolls, but I don't usually try either. Mostly I do the Volks Int click wars and when I have time to prepare it works pretty well for me. Volks USA lottery for outfits, I tried a few times but didn't have much luck. The clickwars can be satisfying when you're triumphant, but it takes a lot of time just to deal with the sluggish website. Lottery is less satisfying, just because the process is so opaque.

But yeah, the best option would be unlimited/pre-order items. Especially for the Miku and other licensed outfits, it seems unfair to force hardcore fans through the whole limited items rigamarole just to get the gear that they want for a pre-order doll!
