How did you react when you saw your first Dollfie Dream?

Recommended Posts

It's good to hear also, that while you were on the train no one spoke badly of her or anything. Makes me sad when they do .

It is rare when they do. And by rare I can count the negative reactions on one hand. And I was razzed only once. I can show you the picture at the exact time when it happened.

Some clown giggled at me, then said, in a falsetto voice, "Oh I just love these tomatoes!"

I burst out in laughter.

Well that's a relief, and the last bit made me laugh too . I suppose there's no reason to be really miffed about it unless they're constantly pestering you lol.

Mitzi is one awesome tomato!

My first reaction to a Dollfie Dream was....confusion. I first saw dollfies (the 25cm ones) and then Dollfie Dreams and was puzzled by the price, cause at the time, size wasn't listed on Volks site. But then I saw Aoi on Danny's site, and she was standing beside his computer (I have the same one) and realized how tall she actually was. I figured one day I would save up and buy one that I thought was amazing. To date now, I have two, one DD Moe (named Harley) and one MDD (HDD-01 named Yami). The third one (Saber Lily) is coming...eventually.

Knowing their true height can surely surprise a person . Especially if one is not expecting it lol (myself for instance). I know that I can't see your Dollfies at the moment, but I'd like to think they're exceptionally beautiful . Happy Saber Lily searching!!

Mitzi is so beautiful in that photo!

Thank you kindly...she is extremely photogenic, in some respects even more so than any of my other big dolls. It seems like every time I bring my dolliehs around to meets, they attract lots of attention because 1.) vinyl isn't supposed to look this good, and 2.) the resin people are amazed by their light weight and ability to hold a pose. Remember: every time you bring your Dollfie Dream(s) to a meet, you are an ambassador for the world of Vinyl.

I think Mitzi so awesome too, with her black leather, rocker look!

I just joined a mid-west BJD forum, and I'm excited to find I'm apparently not the only DD/vinyl doll fan in Madison. I can't wait to take some of my girls to a meet.

That's cool Galvatim! Hopefully we'll get to see some other DD's in pics at the next meet!

I am the sole DD owner in my town... or at least I'm the only one who goes to meetings. Same with Raleigh and Greensboro. Me and my girls are the only Dollfies around, except for Ed and his girls over in Charlotte. But they don't always make meetings in Raliegh.

It's tough being the only Dollfie Dream person around. I'd love for someone else to have one so we can share stories and info. Ah well, I'll continue to champion the cause and one of these days *somebody* will come over to the Light Side!

I am not too far from you in Rochester, MN. My friend, Mary, has family in Milwaukee, so we end up in Wisconsin occasionally.

I don't know if there are any other DD parents in Rochester, but there could be some up in the Twin Cities.

The first time I saw a DD... hmmm.... I was pretty young, in early high school. On my DA account, I follow a couple of people who post their BJD's. I though they were beautiful. After some time of poking around the net I found DD's too.

I was in love with so many of these dolls.

I was so impressed by their size, and how pretty they all were.

I only stumbled across Danny's site early last year, though I only joined this year, and met all the lovely people there and their daughters.

Here I am many years later, still obsessed with DD's and still don't own one. ^^; oi!!

Eventuallyyyyyyy

I was so happy to see my Mandarake HUGE box (less happy for the custom taxes XD) without any damages; that box is so precious to me! Well, when I have seen the MDD box in there I... I was laughing and crying at the same time. I was so happy to receive my child! I also tought Latooni was more little than she is ^^'

"Wow, Volks finally made a doll that's not creepy!"

OK, I know that's kinda harsh. I knew a whole bunch of dollfie people, though, and they were all into resin, with super light skin, dark makeup, exaggerated features, and all that. I went to a big event at a cafe because some friends were going, and a friend of a friend had Asuka. That kinda broke the anti-BJD thing I'd had for a while, and I started telling friends "you know, they make some that are actually pretty nice", and then Danny Choo and the figurefm community drove the nail into the coffin and here I am.

Funny story that . This may be a bit off topic, but.....you saw an Asuka in person?! Wow! She's one of those extra super cute Dollfie Dreams that I've seen only in photographs!

Yeah, this girl my friend knew had a ton of BJDs with her, seven or eight as I recall, and one of them was an Asuka.

Mandarake actually has one for 70,000 right now, by the way: http://ekizo.mandarake.co.jp/shop/en/item_s-123972.html

You're welcome! She can definitely look a bit intimidating at times . Still, I'm glad you were able to decide on which head mold to buy first and I wish you all the best on obtaining the ddh-03 and peach pai bust! Can't wait for those gallery pictures!

Well that's nice! I'm trying to sell a few things myself to help pay for my girls' face up materials . It must be pretty exciting to have someone who can go to Tokyo for you! I don't know of anyone there, other than maybe Volks who sells Dollfie Dream parts and clothes. However, perhaps somebody else will be able to give you more recommendations .

I cant give you specific street addresses but I can tell you what stores to visit for good DD stuff.

Make sure to hit EVERY Volks store you can in the Tokyo area. There are quite a few and they are all easily found off the inner train loop there. I hit three there, Shinjuku, Akihabara and Harajuku. All of them had different stuff so make sure to try all you can to find things you want.

The main building in Akihabara also has 7 floors of toys and hobby related things. There were lots of Doll stores there including the Azone store which had LOADS of clothing that fit DD's. Make sure to go there.

Also, hit every Mandarake store you can if possible. These are secondhand stores and you can find lots of bargains for Dollfies. I got my Rei at one in Osaka for less than $350 and she included 2 outfits.

I'm sure I am forgetting lots of stuff but the stores I listed always have nice Dollfie related things.

It will be very easy to find those places. I was there in Tokyo for 4 days with no translator or guide and I speak NO Japanese and I found them with no problem. I just Googled them on my laptop and looked at maps to find landmarks I already knew. It was pretty easy after that.
