Wig Shininess?

Recommended Posts

Mermaide

Hello everyone! I've been doing some research on this topic but haven't found any doll specific solutions. I got my M.O.M.O. in the mail today. I love her default wig, and decided to use it on my smart doll Ivory (Yuuki). The wig looks SO much shiner in comparison to my other doll's wigs, however. Like the typical Halloween costume wig. I have another Volks wig (white, hime cut) but it looks great.

Like I said, I've seen lots of videos and articles about how to fix human wigs, but not doll wigs. I imagine the process is the same, but I'd like to avoid doing anything to damage the wig *just* in case I ever decide to sell her. If you have any suggestions, please let me know. ^^

Sorry I can't post pictures yet!

Gratz on M.O.M.O.

My M.O.M.O. was used and she clearly had some sort of hair products used on her wig. It was a bit stiff and felt a bit like something was coating it. I soaked it in a few quarts of warm water with a cap-full of "Woolite for Delicates" in it for a few hours and it fixed it right up.

I can tell you that seems to be a safe way of washing the wig, but I don't know if that will fix the shininess. Volks has a special wig shampoo too if I recall correctly.

One thing to check before you wash is for glue on her ahoge. They use glue to keep them in the shape they want sometimes. Mine didn't have any, but I've only seen the one M.O.M.O, and I don't know if the lack of glue is normal. If they did use glue then soaking it in water may make a mess of the ahoge.

The difference between Dollfie Dreams and Heroin? Heroin is illegal, Dollfie Dreams probably should be.

“Empty wallets, full hearts.” That’s probably an apt description for the effects of DD addiction

Volks wigs that come with DDs are usually very plastic-shiny looking. The fibres they use to make the wigs just aren't as nice.
