sinclair Posted May 12, 2017 With Chitose flying in like that I thought this would turn out to be a nightmare dream of Kizuna's.
baldylox Posted May 12, 2017 Kizuna, I love ya and all but Cheeto wins this round! It's hard to beat nice tan boobies! Billy I gave up counting the girls I own, they keep multiplying and won't stop.

sinclair Posted May 29, 2017 It should be separated and made a sticky. I remember my 1st stain, it was a doosey. After the initial shock, I ordered replacement parts and cleaner, and then started the process of learning to clean. Still working on it (Need to get back to it really.), but like they said, it's part of the doll life. Now all my girls, except Saber who is new enough not have have one yet, have a stain of some kind. Time to get the 'spa' ready and send them one at a time. cirquemom Posted May 29, 2017 I agree- this needs to be a sticky, posted separately so people can easily find it when they need it. (because they will need it at some point). Twin Pines is THE BEST, period, and that book is great. K-2 is the King of All Things Vinyl.
baldylox Posted May 29, 2017 "Papa, we need to talk." Okay but why are you dressed up in your default school uniform? DSC05156 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr "Because I want something and it is a proven fact that school uniforms are cute on DD girls and I have a better chance of getting what I want while wearing one." Umm.... this doesn't sound good.... but I'll hear you out. What do you want? "Well, I would like you to get me something I saw on the DD forums." And that would be? DSC05168 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr "I WANT A KIZUNA." DSC05172 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr You want me to adopt a Kizuna? Why? "Did you not read the above diatribe from her and Chitose? I *NEED* a Kizuna in my life to help with my experiments and to have someone else I can converse with who understands chemicals/equations and other such things. We already have a Chitose but she does not seem too keen on science so she cannot help me much." But you have Sango and Mamimi and Katerina who all help with that stuff. Plus, that's a whole lot of money to spend on... "I WANT ONE. NOW." DSC_4344 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr Great. See what you did K2? How can I say no to her? She'll kill me in my sleep if I don't get her what she wants.... Billy I gave up counting the girls I own, they keep multiplying and won't stop.
sinclair Posted May 29, 2017 Great. See what you did K2? How can I say no to her? She'll kill me in my sleep if I don't get her what she wants.... Wasn't it your goal to have 50 before year's end? They're just helping you reach that goal.

Daisy-chan Posted May 29, 2017 It was never *MY* goal to have 50 by years end. I think it's everybody ELSE'S goal for me to have that many! In my defense, I gave you until the end of next year. You're the one who shortened the deadline. I'm surprised Rei is trying to get you to add new girls to the family, instead of trying to get rid of a certain annoyance. baldylox Posted May 29, 2017 In my defense, I gave you until the end of next year. You're the one who shortened the deadline. I didn't shorten it really, I just accept my fate as a never ending home for wayward dollies. I'm surprised Rei is trying to get you to add new girls to the family, instead of trying to get rid of a certain annoyance. Rei knows that "She Who Shall Not Be Named" isn't going anywhere so she figures she can strengthen herself by adding more girls of like mind. Or something.... baldylox Posted May 29, 2017 Awww, I know YOU do sweetie. But the Chitose that lives with us doesn't really. That's why Rei wants me to adopt a Kizuna..... or at least I *think* that's why. I'm not sure she realizes how hard it is to adopt tho so I'm not sure if she'll get what she wants this time. Billy I gave up counting the girls I own, they keep multiplying and won't stop. Innocentsake Posted May 30, 2017 The last story detailing vinyl care was so funny and informative! As others have said I think it would be good for that story to have it's own thread and have a sticky on it so it can stay at the top for all to see Also Cheeto looks great in glasses and that squeaky clean lab coat
elianti Posted June 2, 2017 Chitose and Kizuna are such wonderfully fun teachers. Cheeto looks great in that white coat! Thanks for explaining so much about stains! I agree that this would be great if it would be posted separately or stickied or something to make it more visible. I keep seeing conflicting info about using vinegar for setting dyes though. Was that also in Mr. Hill's book? I know vinegar is used when (acid) dyeing animal fibers to help the fiber take to dye better, but it doesnt seem like vinegar (and salt) actually set dye based on what I've read. That link mentions Retayne for setting dye in commercially bought fabric and Synthrapol for washing out excess dye. sklurk tested both of these in a previous thread over here. I'm experimenting with dyeing doll clothes and am using a synthrapol substitute to get out as much unbonded dye as possible. So far at least I didn't get any stains from the lingerie set I dyed, but my ultimate test would be to dye a pair of shorts as black as possible and not get it to stain. K-2 Posted June 2, 2017 I keep seeing conflicting info about using vinegar for setting dyes though. Was that also in Mr. Hill's book? I know vinegar is used when (acid) dyeing animal fibers to help the fiber take to dye better, but it doesn't seem like vinegar (and salt) actually set dye based on what I've read. Yes, there is a lot of seemingly conflicting information from well informed sources. Not being an expert, I defer to the professional chemist. The 50/50 soak is recommended in Mr. Hill's book. As much of Mr. Hill's writing in his book is about conservation and preservation, my guess is that this rinse is a basic step that in the long run won't harm the multitude of possible fabrics and dyes used. As your source points out there are many types of dyes with each one needing different chemicals and methods for applying, setting, and rinsing. It can be difficult for many of us to determine the exact type of fabric, the type of dye used, and the matching steps and chemicals needed for each. With many pre-made doll outfits using different fabrics sewn together, treatment of the garment as a whole can be challenging. However most people agree that additional rinsing will help remove unbonded dye, though it may not be the exact chemical treatment required for the specific dye/fabric. cirquemom Posted June 2, 2017 Also important in re: to vinegar is to rinse the vinegar out as well. So- vinegar soak, followed by cold water rinse. Basically, just keep soaking in WHATEVER until the water runs clear. That can take a long, long time and many rinses. Just keep doing it. I actually use Dawn dish detergent and water in a glass (not metal), soak the sh!t out of it, agitate it every so often with a plastic/vinyl big spoon (try not to use metal). Then start the rinsing cycle. I put the item into the glass bowl and fill with clean, cold water. When it turns color, dump it out, squeeze out the item, repeat. Eventually the water will run clear. sinclair Posted June 6, 2017 lol, love it! I think it'd be more fun if Chitose "borrowed" the camera and Kizuna later found the photos when looking at the camera later to get her photos off of it to post online. Kizuna's comments on the photos would be as hilarious as Chitose's poses and outfits in the photos.
SlyViolin Posted June 6, 2017 Or Chitose accidentally klutz'd Kizuna's photos off the camera and replaced them with her own so Kiz posts them... with her own of photoshopping revenge.
