Help! I think I might have ruined my dolls wig

Thank you for taking the time out to answer this, basically I'm new to Dollfies and got my first Miku DD. I was told tooth brushes work well for brushing hair, and I don't have the official Volks brush so, that's what had been using. I noted there was some tangles towards the bottom of one of her pony tail on her left side so I tried to see if I could get them out with the brush but really didn't seem to be working well.

So I made the mistake of trying it with a human brush :/. tried using a bigger one with far apart bristles thinking that would be better and yeah..... basically the tangles kept going up the hair, past the ponytail holder and tangled where near the hair parts now... I kept thinking I could fix it if I just get the tangles out but now half of her of her strands toward the bottom is so frizzed and I don't know what to do next I feel so stupid... I should have just quit while I was ahead.

So any advice... should I remove the ponytail holder and try straitening with a proper doll brush, should I try washing it and with what, anything I can put in the hair to smooth it out or anything... or am I just screwed and going to need a new wig. all I care about is mainly getting the parted area before the pony tail holder where the back of the head would strait and nice again if there's a few frizzes toward the bottom I can deal with that but yeah. Thanks for your help,

PS; I have pictures for reference but it's not letting me link them sorry no visual aids :/

I think, that the wig got some styling products in it. with the brushing you frizz it more. You can try a little water on the fingers, maybe this help. If not i think you should remove the wig and wash it Conditoiner with silicon are good for dollie hair

You can always use hot water to straigthen the hair but all curls would be gone then.

Maybe someone good experience with this specific wig. this is just what i would do when a wig get mean to me

I would highly recomend to get a "Tangle Teezer" as soon as posible:

amazon . com /Tangle-Teezer-Original-Professional-Detangling/dp/B007RDV052

It works wonders! There are some clone products on the market but I think the original is best.

I 2nd this. I bought one from Volks after they got them the beginning of the month. It worked great in Miku's hair, and my wife's. Just go slow and take your time. But Volks sold out before I could get a 2nd one for the wife. So thanks for the amazon link.

I ordered a Tangle Teezer from Amazon and don't like it :/ It's kind of brutal with the way it untangles stuff and made wigs kind of frizzy. I went back to using the Volks toothbrush

Before I got the TT, I just used a comb from Great Clips. It took a really like time, but it worked. I like the TT because it has rubber teeth, so if the tangle is too much, the teeth bend out of the way without pulling. Takes several passes, but it does get it eventually. I do admit the hair seems a bit frizzy, but I just figured that was from the AZ air being so dry. Let me tell you, grocery shopping is quiet the electrifying experience here.

But what's important is to try different things and use what works best for you, even if it doesn't for others.

My experience with Miku's twintails is that they can tangle pretty fiercely if you brush them from the top down. Since you have tangles when you work them out start at the tips and work slowly upwards. I use a steel toothed pet comb for this. I have one I bought only for dolls, but if you want to use one you already have for a pet wash it with soap and water first.

As far as the friz once you have the tangles out you can try soaking the wig in a warm water mixed with a capful of fabric softener for a few hours. This can make the wig a bit charged with static, but that will pass in a few days.

Here are some links on the boiling water method and it works, but I haven't tried curling with this method. My Miku's wig needs some straightening, so at some point I am going to have to try this on it.

The cowlick is called an "ahoge" which literally means "foolish hair" in Japanese.

The difference between Dollfie Dreams and Heroin? Heroin is illegal, Dollfie Dreams probably should be.

“Empty wallets, full hearts.” That’s probably an apt description for the effects of DD addiction
