mika Posted June 17, 2016 (edited) I'd love to get my first DD head a custom face up done by WDS, but I can't seem to contact the artist (the only way (for international access) is through Flickr. I created an account there just to send them an email, and this was like a month ago. Apart from face up commission, I'm also interested in their TYPE-G eyes, hoping I could get a pair from them! I was wondering if any of you know if WDS still open for commission these days. And perhaps alternate ways for me to contact her. Thank you! Banders Posted June 18, 2016 My Nia Teppelin has a custom White Dolly Story faceup, I can tell you about my experience. This was back in 2014, so I don't know if she is currently accepting commissions. As far as I know, Shiro only paints limited heads, and will not work on standard editions (with the exception of her ooak auction heads). I emailed Shiro in April, (just a very friendly "hello are you accepting commissions?" type thing. I received a reply about 4 weeks later (mid May) with an attached form to fill out. I then got a second email from her essentially saying "oops I meant to send that to another person sorry!" but I emailed her my form and asked if she could please paint my doll anyway. She accepted, and I got a confirmation so I sent her payment and my Nia. I hadn't heard anything by mid June, so I emailed Shiro (tracking said Nia had arrived, but I was just getting antsy) She replied that she had and she would send photos when the faceup was finished. Beginning of July I received an email explaining that because of the rainy season and bad weather conditions for sealant she needed more time, and was very sorry. I emailed her in August politely asking if there had been any progress and Shiro replied that she would send photos shortly. A week or so later I got photos, approved them and then she sent me a tracking number and Nia was home by September! Pretty much a standard commission experience. Shiro was very polite and quick to reply to messages (but I usually had to initiate the conversation). If you would like any more information, you can PM me and I'll try to help, but I can't guarantee that you will get your head painted. I believe you can order her eyes from her webshop: http://www.kaleidoll.com/gallery.php?sortid=24 Living with: MDD H01, DDSB Yayoi Takatsuki, DDP Akira, DDS Nia Teppelin ☆My Instagram ★
Skaf Posted June 18, 2016 I guess I'll share my experience as well, the first time I contacted her was in early April of '15 and I completely forgot about it until she sent me a reply in late May with a form to fill out. From the time I got around to sending the head out until I got it back it took close to three months, but some of that time was due to the postal service not being very efficient. I also had the same experience as Vanillalilly, I had to initiate communication but when I did I got a response back pretty quick. And she is accepting commissions still, at least she was as of late January of this year.

I'm going to ask her to paint my Moe ver.2 head, I guess that might be a pass? I also want to get a lip mod from WDS seeing that she also offer a mod service from Orchidcat's post (Orchidcat's girls are GORGEOUS btw ). Ahhh! I didn't know about that website! I've heard of it before, I don't think I've ever entered their website. Never knew they're WDS! Thank you so much for this!! I'm really excited about getting a pair from them soon. Hearing this from you is a relief! I guess I'll wait a few more until she get back to me. Thanks!
Cauldroness Posted June 18, 2016 I'm not sure Orchidcat's girl is actually modded -- I think it might be a very skillful paint job that makes it look like a mod? If WDS doesn't actually offer a mod service, she might be ignoring emails asking for mods... Doll Photos & Doll Jewelry Sales: Follow me on Instagram! If WDS doesn't actually offer a mod service, she might be ignoring emails asking for mods... I'm talking about Orchidcat's Melocoton. She had her mouth opened, showing her teeth. Which is similar to what I wanted. That couldn't possibly be a face up, it looks carved. I didn't actually ask for a mod in the mail I sent to her, because I was going to get a face up first before getting any mods.
Cauldroness Posted June 18, 2016 Yeah, I know which doll you were talking about. I still can't tell if it's a mod or a skillful paint job -- it's possible to pain the teeth on the top of the bottom lip without actually carving the bottom lip, and it'll look like a little open mouth. I've seen it quite a few times on BJDs, and the really well done ones are almost impossible to tell apart from mods unless you get a side-facing photo. But it could also be a very subtle mod? Either or not it is a mod, I need to get one for my Moe. She'd look lovely showing her teeth xD. Guess we'll never know until Orchidcat herself confirm it. Kitsune Posted June 22, 2016 Regarding mods I just checked older e-mails with her request form and couldn't find an options for mods honestly. Maybe she makes them by special request when commissioning, but I fear that might cost a lot considering that her face up itself really is more on the expensive side. I've been writing with her a few weeks ago and she told me that she's been very busy for the past 2 months, so that's why replies come so slowly. I've commissioned her for 5 face ups already and she really takes her time when answering, but in the end you always get an answer ^^

And thank you so much for the information! I really really appreciate it! 5 heads sent to her? Wow, that's amazing! You must really trust her and love her work to do that. Might stalk your photo thread now xD!~ Even though I sent my girl for a custom face up elsewhere. I still hope I could get in contact with her, to get more detail about pricing and possibly reserving a slot. xD
Nikn Posted July 5, 2016 So is she still acepting comissions? I'm kinda confused since Orchidcat told me that Shiro said she was only making auctions and we couldn't get a hold of her D: Also about the modding thing I sent my Josephine (Erica) to Clockwork angel to make her smile like Melocotón does. there was no need of modding for this result, just painting, but as you can see the result is quite diferent, I know they are different mold heads but I've seen Melo in person and her smile is... bigger? widder? Im not sure how to describe it xD
Orchid Posted July 7, 2016 Hi! It's Orchid Dolls First of all, I'm really happy to read you find my dolls gorgeous, yay Then, in my case I sent a flickr mail to Shiro for a custom faceup. I remember she was so slow I got my reply a month later lol And she asked me to fill the form for the faceup, including mods and comments for all the elements, from the brows to the mouth. The price could vary between 200 and 300$ depending on what I asked for. I payed 300 lol (and in advance, before shipping my Momo head). Well you can read the full story here: https://orchiddolls.wordpress.com/2014/04/10/momos-re-faceup/ About the mods done: I asked for a mouth mod because I wanted her to look happier, that's why I wanted a wider smile. At first I thought the mod was done inside the mouth (the teeth area), but recently my friend Nikn discovered that the real mod is done in the commissure area: Shiro literally made her mouth bigger toward the sides and slightly up, and the teeth is just a perfect and skillful painting job over her lips. I don't really know if she did some more subtle changes or if she really made some space between the lips for the teeth, very subtle I mean. The fact is that I can't compare her with a default Momo anymore, and I barely remember her without her faceup 'cause I sent her to Shiro as soon as I could lol Oh, and I don't really know if NOW she's accepting commissions, I know she stopped for a while some time ago, but she may be accepting now, do you know about this? It could be really interesting!!!

I LOVE Josephine she's a lovely That's a really nice face up trick! I can't tell really. I thought she's modded! Her mouth doesn't look exactly like Melocoton's but it sure is amazing on its own right! Clockwork Angel did a fantastic job for sure. I always have a thing for a teeth showing smiling expression haha. Hi! I see, it's good to hear more in depth information about how you get her done. So it's correct then, her mouth is a modded work. Oh how WDSs just good at everything. Unbelievable! I can say it all really worth the 300$! And of course I have read the entry of yours from your blog Being a big fan of Melocoton I stalked almost everything about her haha (even liked your Facebook page)! Oh and also her lovely photoshoots from your Flickr Anyway very lovely, lovely girl btw. She's so precious. So are your other dolls. I hope to see more pictures of them.
