mika Posted June 21, 2016 (edited) I wish to know how many times can our dolls have faceup done before the vinyl couldn't handle further paint job? I want to make sure that I can get a faceup redo after a certain period. Thanks! Edited June 24, 2016 by Guest
CeliathePikachu Posted June 21, 2016 Hm, well I've already redone my Autumn's faceup four times, and there doesn't seem to be any problems. So I guess at least four? Currently at home: Autumn (DD2 DDH-01), Sakura (MDD3 DDH-08), Haku (Mio Akiyama), Mashiro (Mashiro Mito), Kaito (Vocaloid KAITO) Mashiro Mito is my wife and I love her! archangeli Posted June 21, 2016 You give the head a coat of MSC or the Volks ZM spray as a primer which gives the vinyl a bit of "tooth" (texture) faceup to stick to and to prevent your paints/ pastels/ from staining the head. And obviously you seal your work when you're done. So I don't know what you mean by washing off the surface of the vinyl Archangeli.net | Twitter: @MsArchangeli | YouTube: Archangeli

What I meant to ask is, how many times can you redo face up on DD before the vinyl became.. thin.. uh!! Really can't find the right word O__O; I'm not a native speaker, it's quite hard. Cauldroness Posted June 24, 2016 You should not be removing ANY of the vinyl when you take off a face-up. In theory, you should be able to dozens of face-ups... When you remove a face-up, you should be removing the paint and sealant only. If you're actually stripping off vinyl when you're removing a face-up, you're probably using too strong of a paint remover and/or letting it stay on the face too long. I'm really happy hearing this. I guess I shouldn't hesitate about doing my own face up.
