Help with custom DD for cherrymilk's Ult Madoka and Homura

I'm new to DDs and would like some advice on purchasing the components for a custom DD for cherrymilk's Ultimate Madoka (myfigurecollection - item/406856) and Devil Homura (myfigurecollection - item/407839). All I have at the moment are the outfits.

 

I think I need a DDS (S/M bust) for Madoka and DD (M bust??) for Homura, but I'm not sure where to get them. I presume I'll have to use a proxy like fromjapan? *To clarify I have bought entire DDs off fromjapan but never individual components*

 

I'm guessing I also need a suitable head for both of them, and I'll have to get the wig custom made - except maybe Homura's which I could use Shibuya Rin's?

 

Would greatly appreciate any advice on where to get the components I need & what components I can use from other DDs.

You can body bodies directly from VolksUSA (http://volksusa.com/) or Volks International (http://www.volks.co.jp/?version=en) without using a proxy.

 

The DDS body has an M bust by default, but you can buy an S bust separately and swap them out.

 

Wigs, you could go the custom route or you could start shopping around at various wig retailers, just look for the 8-9 size. Places that sell wigs include:

Leeke's W-031 is probably a good candidate for Homura in particular--I've got it in red for Nanoha, and it's got those little side bang doodlies already trimmed into it.

 

As for standard heads, maybe an 08 for Madoka and an 02 for Homura?

 

Also, would you terribly mind taking photos of how the wings attach, especially on the Akuma Homura set? I've been trying to put together an Akuma Homura set for my Azone 50cm Homura, and the wings are a particularly major setback for me.

Whats your budget for the head? used head or brand new?

 

There are plenty of gorgeous looking wigs in pink and black, you just have to decide which one you like the most.

As for the S/M bust, unless its a tank top or tight out fit, its not that noticeable with clothes on. M busts are fairly 'Flat'

If you look at the height chart, Madoka is supposed to be shorter than Homura. The height difference between DDS and DD is very small, and the two look very natural together. It won't look odd at all; instead it's the perfect difference for these two characters.

Thanks for the explanation. It all comes down to personal preference, for sure the height difference is not night and day like the DDIII vs Obitsu 50, according to "Sister Kyoya" DD III is 52 CM cm up to the top of the neck and DDS is 49CM.. not alot on paper but noticeable enough for me to dump 13k YEN for a pair of DDS legs to swap out the longer DD III legs currently on Megumin... shes supposed to be short..

 

I'm all for it if OP wants to be true to the character design Just beware some people went the other way and get DD III legs for their DDS.. this guy actually helped me made up my mind on spending 13K YEN for a measly 3 cm..

 

Yeah, tbh, DDS has better proportion as human. By herself, she looks just great but when standing next to my other girls, she looks dwarfed =.=
