Am I missing something? Where are people seeing a picture of the new body/frame?

Did you guys heard of this? Is this a new body? dollfie dream pretty (DDP) or something

 

Jezrah, we got Volks' equivalent of vaguebooking on this.

 

It's hard to say what the scale on the new frame is, because all they show are unmarked CAD renders. :/ And lemme tell ya, it's REAL easy to lose track of scale when you're working 3D CG, so I'm not making any assumptions re: size etc. till we see actual prototypes side-by-side with existing dolls.

 

Seems a little strange they're *already* doing a new frame, though; seems like they only got out the last of the kinks with the DDIII's frame the past year or two. . . But as we've established recently, Volks makes exactly ZERO sense most of the time.

 

Watch, it'll be a new 1/6 body or something equally bizarre

I'm kind of wondering if this body might be kind of similar in shape to Azone's AZO2 body? That would be really cute! I really like the look of curvy bodies (and not just bust/hip, but arms and legs, too)!

Ok, I'm gonna guess the new body type is something between DD and DDDy, with an emphasis on aesthetics over posability. Like maybe the leg is redesigned similarly to the 'high heel' leg of SD with no ankle joint for a smoother silhouette. A curvy girl designed to look good in skimpy clothes... that could be a lot of popular characters! Though my heart wants a Pretty Soldier, I can't hope too much for that >.<

Yeah, given the body name and the silhouette that was my first thought too. The vagueness is killing me though!

It'd be cool to get a classic character like Minmay as a DD. I'm still expecting something like a Saber variant, or Arcueid.

I think it's the lack of texture and detail in the silhouette. It makes her look like she has clawed hands, and the lack of definition in her legs plus the way her knees are overlapping overemphasizes the curve of her hips and thighs.

 

When you see the DD in the exact same pose she looks totally normal. At least for a typical narrow waisted anime character.

 

While I would love to see a reissue of some of the older dolls it would be really nice to see a character from a series they haven't done before. Another Saber or Miku would be a bit of a let down.

And yeah, I at least had figured the silhouette meant exactly nothing--they'd want to make it hard to guess, so of course would use the blandest, most common body type for it to give as little away as possible.

Sounds like it's just a third party thing. I have no issue with Volks producing a robotic DD, but it's not something I'd buy.

Haha, of course they'd use a stock DDIII image! Volks seems to have grabbed a lot of attention, though, so I guess it's worked out for them so far.

This new blog post about Wonfest http://ameblo.jp/blog-dd/ reveals that DD Pretty is a 'New size and new frame'. It doesn't mention the f3 frame by name at all so it's fair to assume that the f3 frame is what's inside the DDP.

 

Note: It's still not confirmed that the new preorder DD will be a DDP.

 

But a random thought I had... The word 'kawaii' can be translated as both 'cute' and 'pretty'. The Super Dollfie Cute is a mature-bodied doll the same height as an MSD, so Dollfie Dream Pretty could very well be a mature MDD.

 

They say right there in the post that photos are okay (they usually are at wonfest anyway), so we'll all know this Sunday what it is!

I think the new size could be SD-16 size or a new 50 cm frame. If its 50 cm, then Sakura could be 50 cm and Shaoran could be DDS Boy. Sorry but I really hope the pre-order is Sakura! I still have no interest in getting a sixth doll, but she's just such a cutie and deserves a DD. There's been so much CCS merchandise lately too.

Also hoping for a 50cm size. I really don't want to get an obitsu body for my Lucy (whenever, you know, I'm actually able to find her head...) but for the character I have in mind, it's either that or a modded DDS body to get the right height difference with my Smart Doll boy ver. (why did i have to choose a pair of characters with such a height difference waaa)

 

I'd imagine it's either something 50cm-ish, a mature MDD size body, ooor possibly a 'pochaco' type body? Although I'm not sure how likely the last one is.

So, possibilities on the table:

-45-50cm-ish, between MDD and DDS

-65cm girl

-Slim MSD (which would possibly be technically out of scale with the rest of the DD line)

-Yo-SD size (either a toddler characterization, or a chibi thing like a giant nendo)

-a new real 1/6 thing

-A very strangely named dude body

 

This being Volks, who the hell knows WHAT they're doing with it. >.< Because let's be honest here, Volks (especially lately) appears to be allergic to making sense.

 

Shall I ascribe a number to each possibility, and roll a D6? It's probably how Volks picks.

A DD that's around 50cm would be great! There are a ton of characters that are better suited to a size in between MDD and DDS. Ami & Mami from im@s would be really amusing considering Rin & Len will be released soon, and they're all twins voiced by Asapon. A 50cm in SWS would be perfect for one or two of my OCs too, since Obitsu white doesn't have much of the pink undertone that Volks has and those girls need. xD;;

I think it's that on the smaller body having less vinyl around the joint allows more movement. For example, how hopeless it is to get an MDD to bend above the waist.

Looking at the size of the new body, I'm wondering if it might be Anzu from Idolm@ster Cinderella Girls.

I've only seen like, 2 eps of CCS, so I'm not attached to the character. If it is Sakura, for me it'll depend a LOT on how her head turns out.
