DD Fes 2016 - Ltd Preorder announcement Soon

Were people banking on CCSakura? I think it was more of a pipedream for most considering the timer and also that the series was celebrating an anniversary. Anyone apart from Idolmaster fanatics would probably be dissapointed if this is indeed the preorder project. Especially considering they made Rin and Len from Vocaloid a lottery vs preorder.

 

Idolmaster was never a preorder project so it seems odd if they'd suddenly make these two girls preorder... It would have made more sense to do Miki and Yukiho a preorder, but then again didn't they do that for Saber?

 

My initial rage has subsided Bc I'm not 100% sure they are indeed the preorder .. It just seems like a very stupid business move. But who knows.

Keeping a small glimmer of hope that there still is an official pre-order that is going to be announced for something else, or for Hibiki.

I think it was more... Volks made a big deal of the announcement, so we expected something new. Idolmaster isn't new.

YES I was and yes. I know it's rather silly of me, I really thought it'd be Sakura from CCS, they led me to believe it should be her! They pulled lottery over Rin and Len, two of the most recognized names in Jpop culture (I'm not saying IdolM@ster girls aren't popular, but they're not comparable to the globally recognized duos). Volks knew none of their existing base bodies would make a good Sakura, MDD is too young and DDS is too old, they released DDP for her, just the perfect size for her. Many companies are currently producing new CCS merchandises, to celebrate CCS's 20th anniversary. I thought Volks would join the wagon. Then of course, there's a COUNTDOWN for this next preorder project. Indicating it'd be HUGE. I have more than one reason to believe that the next pre order project should be Sakura. It'd only make sense that way. But that's really just me.

 

Like Cauldronness, I don't think I'd be as disappointed as I am right now if they could just release something else. Yes, even if it's not Sakura it's fine, just please for god's sake make something new. I don't feel good about sounding so bitter, I know some people cherished Volks decision for making IM girls pre-orderable, I just couldn't relate to them. They've had their time, I just want something else. I still wish to believe there'll something new after the countdown later.

The whole "marketed towards men" made me believe that Sakura would be impossible, yes. But how could after all these; release of Len in a DDSB base body, lottery Rin/Len, CCS anniversary, DDP wouldn't make me want to believe that they're actually doing a Sakura doll. Anyway like I said I know I weighted a lot to what I want to believe than what it really is. I put myself up there I, I've expected major disappointment along the way. Just anything but Miku, but this... is just hard to believe, I don't know what's the appropriate way to react to this.

Something I just noticed with the clock on the website. It's goes off your computers clock. I have mine set to japanese time right now and it says about 7 hours left right now.

Not really sure what you guys were expecting. Idolmaster girls sell well for Volks. I don't know why everyone got so hung up on the idea it was going to be a boy doll or Card Captor Sakura.

 

Dollfie Dreams are still primarily marketed towards men.

 

Super Dollfies are primarily marketed towards women.

 

Well Sakura would have been pretty cool and timely, but since you mentioned SD she would make way more sense to me as an SD. To me a release of Sakura Kinomoto is something that would be more akin to their SD release of Belldandy, or that one of a kind SD Cinderella that went for $10000 at auction. At least to me she's just too big a deal for a vinyl release, or even a large scale pre-order. I have a much easier time seeing her as an SD that is very exclusive and hard to get.

 

I'm afraid I'm going to be a bit narcissistic here. A pre-order of Anastasia along with what appears to be a second outfit for her means I won't be paying aftermarket prices for Anya and her clothing. Consequently I'm not disappointed with this outcome. I have to see more pictures, but the other two just don't do much for me. I did like Takane way more after seeing photos one of the members took of the display.

 

I can totally see why folks here were hoping for something different though. 1/3 of of my girls are from anime or games that I have, and the rest are either Fate, Hatsune Miku, or IM@S. I hadn't even seen any Idolm@aster personally until I watched Xenoglosia for the first time a week ago, but I love the look of the characters. They're beautiful, and ultimately I'm a sucker for beauty so nearly half my DD are IM@S.

 

I have a STRONG feeling we are being duped and there is just another announcement on the way.

 

Their strong relationship with the IM@S franchise would seem to me to preclude any sort of chicanery regarding an IM@S product announcement. Maybe they will add something more to it, like the extra outfits their twitter posts seem to reference, but they won't renege on this.

I shan't lie, I too am wishing for CCSakura... I'm just thinking it would be very unlikely, but boy would I love to be wrong. Especially because they could do Sakura and Syaoran - because in a way if they made a dds male chest what would stop them from making one for the new DDP line?

 

Or could be something totally different - as long as it's not Idolmaster I'll be happy at this point xD

1) volks would never have made Len and a new male body if they didn't intend to make more boys

2) CCsakura is enormously popular with men in Japan. Huge. I mean it's popular with everyone but it's getting so much merch aimed at adults lately that it wouldn't be weird to me. To be perfectly honest, I'd find it weirder if Sakura got a Super Dollfie than a Dollfie Dream.

3) They could have still had a 'mans thing' that was new.

 

I'm not quite as disappointed as others because it means I'n safe from this release and my future doll plans aren't being thrown out of whack again but I still wanted to see something new whether I personally wanted it or not.

 

I think it's interesting that the timer is glitching for people outside Japan. As I'm writing this, there are just under 5 hours on the 'correct' timer (i.e. The one aligned with Japan's time zone) so im still hoping, but if this is it oh well, less spending for me.

Like other people, I'm disappointed the preorder is Idolmaster of all things. I guess my wallet is happy, though. I'll be glad if they announce a another non Im@s doll for preorder, but I'm not going to get my hopes up

I'm going to try and remain positive and speculate that Volks is using the idolmaster dolls as a distraction to the real surprise. It just baffles me that they would have a countdown clock only to ruin the surprise early

I pretty much agree with that and tossing in "I'll believe it when I see it." I'm not expecting anything but I'm also not assuming that somehow it's all ruined either.

 

I count myself lucky that I'm already pretty happy with hw things are going right now depending on the preorder schedual for the Im@s girls. I just wish there was a way to share that with everyone else so it wasn't another Volks induced emotional roller coaster.

well, I just watched the counter tick down to zero. It stopped and when I refreshed it redirects - it was the 3 Im@s girls all along.

-yawns very loudly- volks what was the point in all that hype for more of the same? Or are they going to do countdowns for all preorder dolls now?

 

Wonder if anyone actually entered their names as guesses in the guessing contest?

 

If they showed them before the countdown was up, I wonder if it really was cos of volks news being leaked. In that case they really should have had the countdown earlier or volks news later :/ kinda lame that a leak ruined the suspense and made the whole thing even more anticlimactic lol.

Well, this is disappointing. At least it means that I will be saving my money this year as I have no interest in any of them.

Well, I was right that the pre-order involves the DDP body.

 

I just never imagined it would be the blandest possible choice in terms of franchise. Definitely skipping this one!

 

Plus I still think the normal-sized hands look terrible on the DDP body.

 

Also, how crazy is it that Rin and Len were lotto dolls (Len would have been an AMAZING pre-order announcement) and these Idolmaster girls are most anti-climatic pre-order announcement in Volks' history?

Welp.

 

I wasn't even hoping for CCS, just...something more interesting than more idols. There have been so many idols recently. Not just IM@S. (Not that I wasn't excited about some of them, like the Vocaloids, it'd just've been nice to see something else).

 

Also, wow, the full size hands do look ...not...so good on the DDP. I hope they make properly sized hands for the body at some point.

As frustrating as this is for the international fanbase, it seems like making IM@S dolls is pretty profitable in Japan, which is their target market. So I wouldn't write it off as bad business sense unless it doesn't make sense in Japan (unless you mean in the wider sense of not targeting the international market)

Not really sure what everyones getting up in arms about. Idolmaster dolls are safe business decisions for volks that are pretty much guaranteed to sell well. Volks is a company out to make money they aren't your friends.

 

Idol's sell for the company so as long as that still remains the case they will keep making Idol dolls. End of story.
