SisterKyoya Posted June 30, 2016 Yesterday my Snow Mikus finally arrived, their bodies being snatched up in a heartbeat by Lorelai and Darla (no pics yet.) Miku is having too much fun with the floating heads that will eventually be my custom Rin & Len. Miku: "Test subjects aquired. Now where should we begin? Muhahahaha!" Miku: "Alas poor Yorick... I have no idea who you are." Miku: "What? Is there something on my face?" Miku: "Three heads are better than one!" Miku: "Ahem... My eyes are up here." Miku: "I would like to thank the academy..." ~Sister Kyoya Forum Blog: Badger Pocket Tales (Family story from the beginning) | { Old Family story reboot: Start Here! } Follow me on Twitter, Flickr & Instagram
Poofiemus Posted June 30, 2016 Hahahaha! That was awesome! Although you forgot the opportunity for a "Zaphod Beeblebrox" joke. In this household, sanity is considered a tresspasser.
sinclair Posted June 30, 2016 That would of been a good joke. What happened to their outfits per chance?...

SisterKyoya Posted July 1, 2016 Although you forgot the opportunity for a "Zaphod Beeblebrox" joke. Now that you mention it, Miku is annoyed that I missed it. Her geekiness is insulted. What happened to their outfits per chance?... We are keeping both outfit sets. One so Miku can wear some of her default clothing on a regular basis without me worrying about how my husbands perpetually rough hands will affect it, and the other being saved for photos. Her hair is so difficult to keep so I was going to hack one of the wigs short so I don't have to detangle Miku's hair so much. That would of been a good joke. What happened to their outfits bodies per chance?... Think you were missing the obvious. Yesterday my Snow Mikus finally arrived, their bodies being snatched up in a heartbeat by Lorelai and Darla (no pics yet.) Lorelai may be the first DD I had clothes for once she had her own body. And Darla may just be the prettiest faceup I've done. She's been sitting on a shelf for about a year (did hers right after Madison) and I still think she is just stunning. Makes me love the 06 head even more. They are #18 & #19 finished. I keep telling myself that all I want for Christmas is pajamas for everyone. That is no longer a simple task. Fast math: if each one takes me approx 4 days... I need to start in September. Do Rin & Len even have pajama artwork?? I think so... I'll have to check their board. I have a vague memory of yellow plaid. So, I'll need to design more fabric first. My whole life feels like the book "If You Give A Mouse A Cookie." I'm not sure how I feel about that... ~Sister Kyoya Forum Blog: Badger Pocket Tales (Family story from the beginning) | { Old Family story reboot: Start Here! } Follow me on Twitter, Flickr & Instagram
sinclair Posted July 1, 2016 That would of been a good joke. What happened to their outfits bodies per chance?... Think you were missing the obvious. Nope, she said bodies, outfits are separate. I already have Miku, so I don't want another body. Although you forgot the opportunity for a "Zaphod Beeblebrox" joke. Now that you mention it, Miku is annoyed that I missed it. I'm not sure how I feel about that... ~Sister Kyoya Fun book to read the kids the mouse is. Rats on the outfits. I don't want another Miku, just her outfits. Oh well, I did order the winter coat set, so that'll be good for now. I hear you on her hair, but I don't think I'd ever have the will to be able to hack a wig. My wife braided Miku's hair for me a couple weeks ago, it helped a lot, but even then it somehow managed to get all frizzly still. There's just something about her hair having a mind of it's own. I'm sure it doesn't help that I'm in AZ where it is so dry and my wife's hair gets all frizzly too. I do have a 2nd standard Miku wig that I had planned to let the tails out on so she'd just have long hair, but I was told that her wig wouldn't work that way, so it's still packaged up. But I have been thinking of making it Sailor Moon buns like as I love the bun look with tails, and it'll shorten the tails which should make it easier to manage, I hope. SisterKyoya Posted July 1, 2016 Still drives me a bit nuts that they are called twin tails. Growing up they were always pigtails. But yeah, one thing about the wigs is generally the style they come in is the style that it's stuck with. Especially when it comes to the part line. Because in this respect wigs are not like hair at all and the wefts (sewn line of hair fibers) need to point in a certain direction for the style so they lay right. With the default wig, you can force it into a ponytail and it looks prett decent because it was made in a style that is supposed to have her hair pulled back, otherwise the ends of the wefts would show along with the wig cap. When the hair is let loose it won't hang down like normal hair does because the wefts on her wig are facing away from the part. The hair fibers on the part have also been heat set to make them lay correctly for the twintails. I'm glad that you brought this up because I hadn't quite thought about it but Snow Miku's hair will have the same problem. Now I'm interested in seeing if I can heat set the part so it would hang down straight. Since the one that's getting cut is the sacrificial wig, if I goof up it won't be a big deal. I can use the parts that get cut off to test the heat amount beforehand. If I completely screw it up, I can just make her a new wig from the hair fibers I bought for her after my husband got her. Her hair being so long is frustrating simply because the weight keeps popping her head off ~Sister Kyoya Forum Blog: Badger Pocket Tales (Family story from the beginning) | { Old Family story reboot: Start Here! } Follow me on Twitter, Flickr & Instagram
Ravendruid Posted July 1, 2016 It hadn't quite occurred to me that the style the wig was made to be might cause problems when cut short. I am kind of interested to see what it looks like just cut and not re-styled, but I am also VERY intereted to see if it is something that can be reset. SisterKyoya Posted July 1, 2016 Me: "Yipee! More hair fibers to play with! Now where on the list of 100+ projects I'm trying to do does it get put?" And this is just after I finished the text for Darla's intro story. That alone will require 2 new outfits, A wall with a door, a laptop, fake history book, a wand, a garden bed, finishing the clothesline, finishing the garden beds with the fencing, and part of Naiomi's bedroom. Ie-Aster Posted July 2, 2016 "Alas poor Yorick...I have no idea who you are" and Miku's corresponding pose is a thing of beauty. I like her sense of humor a great deal. At home: Mei (DDP Lucy custom), Aku (DDB Takane custom) En route: L. (DD Matoi)
Poofiemus Posted July 2, 2016 When you first said "Hack short", I thought you were gonna have shorter pigtails--maybe something like this: Much shorter, but still making use of the part. Guess that can be a backup plan if the fiber's not heat resistant? In this household, sanity is considered a tresspasser.
SisterKyoya Posted July 3, 2016 Le-Aster- Thank you. The longer Miku is around the more her 'off stage' personality is beginning to mimic my slightly goofy view of the world. She's deffinately been a very unexpected buddy. Poofie- That looks like Yuriko's right now but hers is also braided. Miku's will be a little longer but that's what I was kinda going for. UGH! Rainie buts into my head at the weirdest times. I was trying to think of what to do with the leftover fibers and she said to make Miku a beard. Really Rainie? Really? I'll have to play around and see what might be possable with the leftovers because it can only be as long as half the length of the fibers since they get folded in half. I guess the first place to start is to remove the wig from the package... Never occued to me before but I wonder what Miku might look like in Bree's original wig... ~Sister Kyoya Forum Blog: Badger Pocket Tales (Family story from the beginning) | { Old Family story reboot: Start Here! } Follow me on Twitter, Flickr & Instagram
Ravendruid Posted July 3, 2016 The colors would certainly suit her pretty well. Bree would probably find it hilarious. Hmm... Hatsune Bluebeard. That could get rather interesting. I could just hear her trying her best "piaratey" accent. Great, now I can't get rid of the image of her, Yuriko, and Sohi all dressed up singing "The Prates Who Don't Do Anything". Followed up by Miku singing "I Am the Very Model of a Modern Major General" and Naiomi joining in for a few other selections from "Pirates of Penzance"... sinclair Posted July 4, 2016 Twin tails vs pig tails, IMHO, pig tails come off of the bottom half of your head, like in the photo Poof posted. Twin tails on the other hand come from the top half of your head, like Miku's do. And pig tails are mostly braided. I prefer twin tails. That's my story and I sticking to it. Thanks for posting a photo of Miku's wig let down. So glad I didn't do it to mine. But it makes me want the ribbon girl set even more, but I'm doubting it'll make it to Volks USA, and I'm not ready to pay the price of a new doll for just an outfit, no matter how perfect it is. Do keep s posted with photos of your wig experiments.
