*new body* Dollfie Dream Pretty

Found these images on Twitter. Looks like she is indeed a size between a MDD and DDS!!

 

I actually emailed volks about this last March. Wonder if they took my suggestions on board or I just had a lucky guess but she looks exactly as I described.

 

"Ideally the body would be very similar to the MDD but with a slightly

longer limbs and torso and a little more shape to the hips. Because

the size wouldn't be too different I would hope that some MDD outfits

would fit the doll just like how DD sets fit the DDs body."

 

Anyway will have to wait for exact details to confirm.

 

 

Looks interesting so far. I look forward to seeing a full completed DD.

Any word on the exact height? Because if it's 47-50cms then glory hallelujah glory hallelujah *crosses fingers*

Definitely looks like a halfway between MDD and DDS. That's great, DDS and DD ended up being too similar for me to tell apart. And she looks cute with DDH-10 head, too. I grabbed some photos from twitter that were more clear-

This new body opens Volks up to making a lot of different anime characters that didn't fit the existing bodies. Especially when lolis are dominant in new anime.

So it's kind of like an Obi50 size, but less twiggy! You know, this DOES make it look more likely that the new-version Sakura Kinomoto is gonna be the pre-order doll, since the size seems pretty close to being right.

 

You know, I find it interesting that on this frame they've eliminated the mid-thigh hinge joint. Having just had to re-do the screw on that joint on one of my DDII-frame girls--which was a royal pain--I'm not sure I'm complaining. It's not like the joint does much.

 

At any rate, I do like the look of this body (and love having a variety of body types in my group), but think I'd like to wait a few releases for them to get the bugs out before I ponder anyone specifically for it. Especially with how super-extra-proprietary all those torso joints look to be.

Based on the height I'm guessing Kinomoto Sakura for the DD countdown release due to Cardcaptor Sakura's 20th Anniversary? Who knows.

 

Hope the spine joint is able to sustain in the long run.

Yeeeeah, looking at that spine, I can't help but think: "Volks, this had BETTER be better QA'd than the DDIII bodies", because if any of that breaks outside that useless 2-week warranty period, you're SOL for quite a while.

Oh this is awesome! It makes me wonder how else volks might start expanding their range of products. I also really hope they make sure that new frame is sturdy.

Yup, this could be used for a lot of anime characters.

 

 

Hestia would be completely wrong as an MDD. It would have been perfect for Prisma☆Illya too.

I'm grounded! That is definitely gonna be Sakura Kinomoto! It's only logical that way thinking all the anniversary they're having this year. I've been disagreeing about Sakura being an MDD because MDD to me looks more of 6-9, while DDS looks 14-17 (which would be good for Sakura thinking that she's currently in middle school). But DDP would be PERFECT for former Sakura and the Sakura now. Volks has been missing the 10-13 age category I'm glad they invented this thinking the possibility of Madoka Magika girls, Yoshino, Shinobu, Shiro and more.

Also, there are plenty of characters who are in the 16-20-whatever range who are just not really tall and leggy like DD and DDS, which this would be perfect for. It still looks like, depending on the head choice, it could look like a short adult (~50 cms in 1/3 scale would be a ~5 ft adult, which is within the norm for adult women). Whereas it would be a lot harder to do this with a MDD in 1/3 scale.

(I feel like pairing a MDD girl with a 60ish cm boy character would immediately be regarded as...bad regardless of the actual age of the characters, whereas I hope that won't be true for DDP given that DDP has much less childlike proportions in general)

Ahaha of course after I end up getting a 48cm Obitsu body to fill in that size gap, Volks makes this. Hmmm..... does that particular girl need better posing or better aesthetics. Although we of course don't know what the posing is like with this new frame.

 

This size was definitely missing, I always felt that Louise should've been this size rather than MDD. She was a loli rather than a child.

It's awesome that DDP really is in between MDD and DDS. ^^ Most of my girl OCs are short so having DDP as another option among all of the various 48-50cm obitsus out there is really nice! DDP's torso is also much nicer than the standard obitsu ones too.

 

The new frame looks interesting.. the spine in particular to me. It seems like it could flex quite a lot? I wonder if the vinyl for DDP body is a bit softer for extra flexibility.

So excited about this I've been wanting variety in height within my doll family! Can't wait to see who will be released on this body as well

Holy hell, those hands are ENORMOUS! Yaoi hands for sure there, I don't like that one bit. I sure hope you can swap those out for MDD or DD sized ones....

 

It's cool they decided to go a size between the MDD and the DDS.... *this* looks way more like a "little sister" body than the DDS does. Very nice.

 

I agree this opens up way more anime character possibilities for Volks to use and it will allow people who have customized their own to have a nice looking body that poses well. My Louise is on an Obitsu 45cm body and while the height is good on it, I don't like the overall look of the body itself. This new body is the perfect shape and size for her so I'd be all about redoing her and maybe a couple more of my girls using this body.

 

And I am with Poofie all the way on Volks keeping on top of their quality control on this. Looking at the areas around the knees, pelvis and lower neck, all I see is a redo of the first DDS frames issues..... too thin a plastic to hold up to ANY kind of posing. My Mamimi has one of the first DDS bodies released, a Reimu I think, and her shoulders gave me such problems with cracking and breaking! All I could do was figure out ways to fix them on my own while I waited on Volks to make replacement parts available.

 

I guarantee they won't have these new frame/body parts out when they do a wide release on it, they almost never do. Heck, they never made replacement vinyl body covers for the original DDdy thighs or lower torso! I know the new DDdy3 ones will work but still, having NEVER made those parts seems completely ignorant to me. But Volks is Volks, they have no rhyme or reason to what they do, what they sell or how they distribute it.

Oh my gosh, a mid size between MDD and DDS will be perfect! I only have one DD girl and don't want any more because she's just so big. I was about to be like well I guess I'm just eternally stuck with MDDs (though I might try DDS?) because 50cm is about the biggest I prefer to go.

 

This midsize will be so perfect. *Plans an army of MDDs and DDPs*

This is exactly what I've been wanting since I joined the hobby. DDS is too close to DD for me as well.

 

And here I thought I didn't need to buy anymore dolls... Now all this new stuff is coming out (Vocaloid twins, DDSboy, DDP...). If the preorder is Sakura, that's a must-have.

If it is Sakura, that would be awesome.

But even if it's not, I think I want it regardless of the character!

Since a pre-order is a guaranteed order and none of that lottery business, I'll be all over it just for the body!

It's great! I can not wait the new information about it.

Already I thought of who it will approach, if it is between the size of MDD and DDS. It will give rise to the birth of a new doll!!!

Are there other popular dolls this size? I'm wondering how hard it would be to get clothing, because this does seem very slender. What about Azone 50 clothing? I thought that fits DD ok, so it would be baggy for this. DDS usually wears hand-me-downs of DD clothing.

 

I think the hands they're showing are just normal DD hands, hopefully they'll make new ones.

My DDs can barely squeeze into Azone60 clothing... I think Azone50 would be way too small for a DD or DDS, so probably a good fit for this new size?
