*new body* Dollfie Dream Pretty

>__< it's such a perfect size!!!!! I know we already knew, it's just, every time I see it in comparisson to others I think I fall more in love with that figure...

I wish they'd do one with all 4 sizes, not just the 3 smaller ones. I want to know it's size with a DDIII.

There's barely any height/size difference between DDS and DD... so just imagine the DDS is a smidgen taller and you've about got it.

I get the feeling they won't release the body by itself until a while after these first pre-order girls ship, so like, maybe December 2017. The wait's gonna be horrible

Ya, it was announced with KOS-MOS, right? Lucy, Alice and Yukiho were released first.

especially for people who are only familiar with how the DD3 body looks in person (ie if the thigh is that big on the DD3, then the DDP thigh is...)

I love the new body . MDD always felt too young for me but I did not want SD size either. I already got a doll that I would love to swap.

I think we saw SWS Lucy, SWS Alice *and* SWS Mariko before SWS Kos-Mos delivered, even though SWS had first been announced with Kos-Mos.

So now I can't help thinking Sakura Kinomoto could still be a possibility in the future.

I was on the fence about this size, to be honest, but the more that I see and learn about it the more I want one. I am already half tempted to swap clara out for that size....!

Volks USA has an announcement on their facebook page relating to the release of a stand extender for their MSD stands to fit them to the size of DDP. They mention the release date as Autumn 2017.

 

"The "MSD Stand Extender" is expected to be released in Autumn 2017, just in time for the DDP Yayoi Takatsuki and DDP Iori Minase!"

 

I wonder if this hints at no DDP release until the pre-orders?

 

They also posted this response to someones question about the availability of DDP.

 

"As of right now the only announced Dollfie Dream® Pretty girls are the Pre-Order DDP Yayoi Takatsuki and DDP Iori Minase. The release of the bodies themselves as "Base Bodies" has currently not been decided yet."

 

I would observe that I think it's highly unlikely that they would design a whole new Skeleton and not sell it, but that's just my own opinion.

That's a really good point. It's not like the release of SWS required a new size of clothing and accessories. This does, so probably a good idea to have a market for those items before making them.

 

As it happens the cool cats stands for DDS fit Obitsu50, so I am hoping they will work for DDP. It's so much easier to get their stands than Volks stands.

I agree, "Dollfie Dream Pretty" isn't very distinctive or descriptive. Volks could have called it a "midi" or "cute", like they did their resin BJDs of similar size.

Midi wasn't a different size though? It's just like a ver.2 of the mini size resin body.

Cute is as descriptive of size as Pretty. You could easily argue that all DD are cute just as easily as all DD are pretty Cute and Pretty are both appearance related rather than size related.

But there are Mini Super Dollfies and Mini Dollfie Dreams, with similar body styles and sizes, both more youthful.

 

I agree, "pretty" and "cute" really don't say anything about size.

This is also a company that has a "Yo" size, a "Graffiti" size, and a "Dear" size, as well as the always-confusing "Rei-Tenshi," "Sei-Tenshi" and "Hikari-Tenshi" lines. At no point has Volks ever really said or even implied that doll lines would get size-specific names.

 

Not to mention, "pretty" does have an age connotation in English. Older women are usually "beautiful" or "lovely" and younger women (especially little girls) are "pretty" or "cute." Thanks to anime like "PreCure" ("Pretty Cure"), "Pretty Sammy," and "Pretty Rhythm," there's already an association in Japan with the term "pretty" with a young girl (and let's remember us English-speakers are not Volks' primary audience).

 

Besides, I think it's less confusing to have the DDP because none of the resin line uses the word Pretty. If they used "Midi," what initials would they use? MDD is already Mini Dollfie Dream and DDM/DD-M is already Dollfie Dream with an M-bust. "Cute" is no more size-descriptive than "pretty," and DDC is already the name of a... er... "life-sized love doll" so maybe Volks wanted to avoid being connected with that.

 

Honestly, just memorize it. Most collectors have already memorized DD, DDS, MDD, DDdy, and DDH-01 through DDH-09, so why make a big deal of having to memorize DDP?

Yeah, I agree with the above. My favorite doll company uses these terms for their sizes: Dear shine, dear lover, dear pet, dear classic and dear bean. Bean is the only one that indicates size lmao.

It's not a big deal. It's just funny to think about and talk about. We all will just accept it as it is.

I agree most of us will just memorize the acronym and refer to it as DDP just like DDS, although that one always brings to mind dentist!

 

I like the name and immediately it reminded me of a younger, cuter, petite, feeling. Almost bambi like in limbs which is adorable. I can't wait to see future releases on this body!
