I agree most of us will just memorize the acronym and refer to it as DDP just like DDS, although that one always brings to mind dentist!

 

Even GOOGLE thinks it refers to a dentist! Looking up "DDS Marisa" brings up tons of female dentists all over the place. Maybe one of us just needs to make a short dentist character and be done with it.

Oh jeez, now I'm picturing Melody as a dentist. She'd be super nervous and it's just too adorable.

This is also a company that has a "Yo" size, a "Graffiti" size, and a "Dear" size, as well as the always-confusing "Rei-Tenshi," "Sei-Tenshi" and "Hikari-Tenshi" lines. At no point has Volks ever really said or even implied that doll lines would get size-specific names.

And I have no idea what Gou means!

 

Honestly, just memorize it. Most collectors have already memorized DD, DDS, MDD, DDdy, and DDH-01 through DDH-09, so why make a big deal of having to memorize DDP?

It's not a big deal. It's just funny to think about and talk about. We all will just accept it as it is.

no, DDS does! Doctor of Dental Surgery (and weirdly enuff, a more surgery-like process like root canals needs an Endodontist, which is a dentist with even MORE education, not just a reg dentist)

So far the body has only been released with the last pre-order dolls, which won't be out until around fall I believe.

What have you bought in preparation for them? What are you excited to see? What will you be doing with them???

 

Surprisingly i will only have 2 new outfit sets for the ddp.

i will definitely be trying all the mdd clothes to see what fits, as well as shoes.

From looking at pictures of the body comparison im hoping they will fit msd shoes, but i get the feeling they are an inbetween foot size and will have to clown foot in sd shoes. Need to go analyze pics of the ddp girls in actual outfits :p

 

Im looking forward to seeing what the new frame system can do, and doing some of the poses torino mentioned in a previous post.

 

Im also wanting to see if its at all possible to mod larger busts onto the bodies, be it a obitsu/azone, or modded dds or mdd bust like you do for a DY body who knows how long before different ddp bust sizes come out!

Only thing I have bought so far is the swimsuit set from the August release. I've avoided most of the MDD outfits that listed DDP. My image of Iori, and Yayoi really isn't that loli, even thou Yayoi did wear some absurd outfits in Xenoglosia.

 

I had totally failed to notice that those two September outfits were DDP, and I now want them. I thought I was safe from that release. D:

 

I'm excited, but Yayoi won't be here till December. I ordered Anya and Iori through Japan, so I should have them in a few weeks.

I've bought several things because I have a hard enough time trying to get "normal" sized doll clothes I like. Also their default outfits aren't that useful >_> I've made a point of getting shoes, sandals and geta (I have nothing to go with the geta, but one does not pass up geta). I've also picked up some sets like the Winter Warm Down Jacket Set and the Chic Blue Knit Set. I got a t-shirt & blouse that were available at the last click war, and I'll probably try for these two as well :3

Except...I was pretty sure they made msd sized versions of those (not to mention there are SD16 and SD13 versions for sure (the SD13 ones go for a LOT last I checked), the latest release of those was a re-release of the SD16 ones I think). Not to recast doubt for everyone again. >_>;

Its funny because some msd/mdd clothes are listed for DDP, but bra/underwear they are listed under DDS/DD S/SS bust :/

My reply is totally off topic in the original thread, and on topic for this thread so I am replying to this here.

 

 

Are the DDP girls using new hand sculpts? They don't seem strangely huge :/

Maybe because the hands look a tad small on the DD girls? I mean, their large hands look very natural on them too, and they're quite a bit bigger... just a guess, I can't tell if they are new hands, but they don't look like it.

 

It's hard to tell for sure with the way the hand is posed, but the thumb on Iori's pointing finger seems to be positioned differently than the thumb on the DD sized pointing hands. On the normal size pointing finger the thumb is posed in the classic 'bang your dead' pose, and the one on Iori seems to be closer to her fingers.

 

Some quick poses with my Chihaya do show that this could just be an illusion caused by position, and the compression effects of the lens.

 

The outstretched hand seems to be the same size in proportion to the head as it does on my DDS, so if the heads are the same size as DD/DDS then I'm guessing it's the same.

 

Pretty sure they aren't MDD hands. The MDD pointing finder's index finger looks shorter and thicker to me.

 

I suppose a lot does depend on how thick the wrist is on a DDP. If it's closer to DDS size then normal hands might not look out of proportion. With these images the sleeve is hiding the wrist, and the overall effect of that might be minimizing the hand to body size ratio.

 

Volks hasn't setup an options parts section for DDP, or labeled any of the other option part sections with DDP. They already have a DDP clothing section. As much as I would hate having the collect a whole new set of hands I would hope if the normal hands are oversized on DDP that they issue new hands. If they are new hands then it's probably going to be a pain getting them for awhile.

 

To me the normal hands seem to be sized well for DD or DDS, but the large hands look much too big on DDS. The hands on Iori and Yayoi seem to fit them really well.

 

Can't wait for Iori to arrive now that I've seen these images. Definitely getting those outfits for her too.

Right here, it says they use normal hands and can even use Large hands (also that they fit some MDD, MSD, SDM outfits, probably ones that are not too close fitted, or too short). It even has the measurements....

Yup it does say that. They do mention that as far as the heads go the heads that work with MDD are best. I think that does indicate that the scaling is going to be a bit off, but with normal hands it might not be that noticeable.

I think that's old though, when they originally announced the bodies. The normal hands don't look too bad and they may not intend to do new sculpts, but OTOH maybe they just didn't have new hand sculpts ready at the time when they announced DDP.

I don't recall them 'half doing' a new doll release. With the large ver. hands release it more points towards them aiming for more realistic proportions. So I'd assume that the DD hands could be more appropriately sized for the DDP. Volks is not in the business of 'good enough.'
