Volks Booth at New York Comic Con

Recommended Posts

SylvanJade

Hey all,

I just received an email from Volks, stating that they will be in the New York Comic Con this year. Booth #2764.

Here's a copy of the email text:

VOLKS USA, INC will be at NYCC 2016 October 6th - October 9th, 2016 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center!

Attention East Coast Hobby and Dollfie® Fans!

VOLKS USA generally operates out of our base on the West Coast in California - which is quite a long trip for those living on the East Coast!

We’ve decided that we wanted to fix this problem during 2016 by attending one of the largest pop culture events in New York!

Join us at New York Comic Con 2016 October 6th - October 9th!!

Can anyone confirm if this is true?? Any chance for a dollfie meetup?

If this is old news, I heavily apologize!

I highly doubt Volks would lie about attending an event, or send out an incorrect email about something like this.

Those are the correct dates for New York Comic Con as well. So, pretty sure it is safe to say they are attending. ^^

To any folks that go please let us know what kinda fun goodies they have/possible lotteries. :>

Lol, the email from Volks IS the confirmation that it's true. Direct from the company is as confirmed as it gets!

However, eech, Volks, kind of crap timing? I mean, great for people who are already going to NYCC, but not helpful for the rest of us since tickets sold out ages ago.

Oh no!!

The tickets are all sold out? Aww, I haven't looked into it yet but I was really hoping to go.

Bummer. Maybe next year....

New York Comic Con is very similar to San Diego Comic Con in the sense that the second the tickets go up they are immediately bought out. It's a huge event and practically everyone in nerdom seems to want to go.

So if you plan to do it you'll have to jump right away, but don't make an assumption that just because Volks is there this year that they will be there the next. (Just a warnin'.)

I'm so excited about this. I've been going to NYCC every year since I was 11 years old and this news just adds to the list of booths I'll be visiting this year. And yeah, it is disappointing that Volks decided to give this news so late, but when you think about it, Volks would've had to give the news very early if anyone decided to go based on this information alone considering how registration worked this year. This year people had to register within a fixed amount of time back in May/June I believe in order to have a chance at getting a ticket. Then, only two day notice was given in July before tickets were sold. When the day and time actually came to buy tickets, 3 and 4 day tickets sold within the first two hours and slowly the so did the other tickets. . . I guess the point I'm making here is. . .I actually don't know. =w=;

Anyway, I'm very excited to see what Volks does for the event. I'm wondering if they'll give NYCC the same treatment as AX. Btw, what does Volks usually do at AX? I remember hearing about a lottery and seeing pictures of their display cases, but nothing else. Also, do they usually just sell older pre-order DDs or a variety of DDs? Sorry to ask, I just wish to know so I can prepare my wallet.

They also posted it on their Facebook earlier this week. My feeling from the FB post was it was kind of a last minute thing for them, as in they didn't get permission from parent company until last minute.

You know... that last part makes a lot of sense!

From a few previous experiences of anime cons... sometimes you sit there until literally days before the event to hear from the Japan-side!

From what I've been told they do hold a special lottery for some older molds or very recently passed dolpa molds. I think they usually otherwise just sale their figures, and display anything special they have comin' up. They also sometimes take pre-orders there? But that's been for things that have already been goin' like Snow Miku/Regular Miku.

Sorry if my info is wrong, this is just what I understand from what I've been told. ^^''

Just to give people an update. Volks gave a link to a page facebook page saying they will be accepting early pre-orders for the idolm@ster girls during New York Comic Con. If you do, you'll get free shipping. The only catch is you have to pay in full right then and there. Oh, there'll also be special lotteries on October 7th and 8th at 2 PM. Here's the link if anyone wants to see the full details:

Just wanted to add an update as I was able to visit the Volks Booth all 3 days(and plan to visit them again today). I posted a video on my Youtube channel with a small clip of the booth. (Same username as here if you wanna check it out).

They sold a few dolls including Miku, Snow Miku, KOS MOS, MOMO, and Akira Ver. 2. They also had a few outfits. Everything seemed to be in very limited quantity. I purchased an Akira and the Ribbon Girl Outfit. The only items that sold out so far were the Ribbon Girl Set, KOS MOS, and her gun.

The Lottery had 3 iDOLM@STER Cinderella Girls: Rin, Ranko, and Uzuki. They also had a few outfits as well. They seemed to prepare for a larger crowd and had 2 lotteries, Saturday and Sunday. Saturday I wasn't able to go but I heard there were 5 people and everyone got what they wanted.

It was less of a lottery and more of a draw as long as everyone chose something different. The next day there were only 2 of us that entered and the other person came the day before. Since there were only 2 of us, we both won. I ended up getting Ranko and her Gothic Lolita outfit.

They are also holding pre-orders for the 3 dolls they've listed. Everyone at the booth was so friendly and nice!

I only saw two other people purchasing dolls and they both seemed like collectors, so hopefully no flippers.

Other Ranko winner here! There was an actual, pull-a-number-out-of-a-box lottery for Rin and the swimsuit set on Friday, but there were only two entries for each item. Nothing else was contested.

I'm really grateful that I was able to pick up Ribbon Girl there. I really didn't want to have to try to do the international clickwar after a full day of NYCC.

I hope that despite the small lottery showing, Volks returns for either NYCC 2017 or for the new NY anime con.

So most likely we won't be seeing a NYCC after stock. Bummer, I was thinking to get another ribbon girl for trading purposes. I saw in their facebook photo that Ribbon Girl, KOS MOS, and her gun did not have a "SOLD OUT" Tag on them. Or maybe they just took them off since they were ready to get packed up.

Yay! Congrats on also getting Ranko! Yes, I agree. I'm so glad they had the Ribbon Girl Set available.

While they did sell out of a few things, they may still have a few dolls available and a few Saber outfits. They may not list them online. A few years ago, I emailed Volks asking if they had any limited girls in stock and they had two. While I'm unsure if they would still do this, you can always ask.
