It's a pleasant afternoon, all things considering. A little warm, a little dry, but pleasant. I'm sitting on the balcony, enjoying my recently purchased novel. When I hear a voice...

 

"Hello?"

 

Me: ?

 

 

Me: Uh hello.

 

"Hi! I'm Jayde."

 

 

Me: Oh, pleased to meet you -

 

 

 

Jayde: Do you mind if I come inside?

 

Me: ... I, well sure...it's a bit messy though...

 

 

Jayde: "Why is it so messy?"

 

Me: We're packing. To move, I mean. To a new house.

 

 

Jayde: "Oh. Like these boxes?"

 

Me: Yes, like - what are you doing?

 

 

Jayde: Looking. Do you really need all this stuff?

 

Me: Well yeah. That's my clothes and - hey!

 

 

Jayde: "This is really soft."

 

Me: You're messing up my piles. Get out of there. *attempts to pull her out*

 

 

*muffled squealing* *some thumps*

 

Me: Drat. She got away. Where did she -

 

 

Jayde: "What's in here?"

 

Me: *panting* Come back here -

 

 

Me: Hey, get out of the kitchen!

 

 

Jayde: "There's good smells in here!"

 

Me: Get down before you kill yourself!

 

 

Jayde: "In a minute."

 

 

Jayde: "I made it!"

 

Me: Of course you did, you silly girl. Now get down before you fall.

 

 

Jayde: ....

 

 

Me: What?

 

Jayde: Oh!! COOKIES!!!

 

 

Me: You want the Oreos? Ok, you can have -

 

 

Jayde: "These are my cookies now."

 

Me: Where are you going with those?

 

Jayde: "To eat them of course!"

 

 

Me: You just smashed my cookies! *grump* Just stop right there, missy. You and I are going to have a talk.

 

*Scoops up Jayde and cookies; brings them to the kitchen table*

 

 

Jayde: "Don't touch the cookies! They're my cookies now. You said so!"

 

 

Jayde: "Must. Open....the box..."

 

Me: ....

 

 

Jayde: *wails* "I can't get it open!"

 

Me: *sigh* Here, I'll do it for you. *rips open the box of cookies* Here you go.

 

 

Jayde: "...thank you." *munch munch*

 

Me: So, where'd you come from anyway?

 

 

Jayde: "You know what? I like you."

 

Me: You do?

 

 

Jayde: "Yeah."

 

 

Jayde: "Can I stay with you?"

 

Me: Ww-what?"

 

Jayde: "You know, stay. I'll live here with you."

 

Me: I don't know -

 

 

Jayde: "You don't like me?"

 

Me: No, no, I do! I do like you! Wait, now where are you going?!"

 

 

Jayde: "I'm looking for clothes! I can stay cause you like me. Do you have any clothes my size?"

 

Me: ....

 

Jayde: "Maybe there's something in here...."

 

Me: *cough* Well, before you try on any new clothes....you gotta get cleaned up first. *grabs a box* Sit on this...

 

 

Me: What are you wearing anyway?

 

 

Jayde: "This? I found it outside a very fashionable shop."

 

Me: Uh huh. What color is it?

 

 

Jayde: "Some sort of browny grey..."

 

 

Jayde: "What? It's fashionable! All the girls are wearing it!"

 

 

Me: Right. Well we gotta get you cleaned up first. Off come your socks!

 

 

Me: Look how dirty your feet are! They need some serious scrubbing. What a scruffy little waif you are.

 

Jayde: "Heeeey!!"

 

 

Me: Here we go. I got some water and some cloths....

 

 

Me: how about your hands, let me see...well those look pretty decent....ok, now off with your clothes.

 

 

Jayde: "Ww-what!?"

 

Me: You heard me - off they come!

 

 

Jayde: "It's COLD!!"

 

Me: Here, you can wear one of my shirts for now...

 

 

Jayde: "It's too big!!"

 

Me: Yeah you're right. Hold on a sec....

 

 

Jayde: "What you doing?"

 

Me: I'm making you some clothes. Now hold still....

 

 

Me: That looks about right...what do you think? Shall we try it on?

 

 

Jayde: *shyly* "ok...."

 

 

Me: Well, what do you think? It's my first time sewing, so....it's probably not the best....

 

 

Jayde: "It's really comfy but...."

 

 

Jayde: "What about some pants?"

 

 

Me: What a picky girl....

 

 

Jayde: *gasp*

 

Me: Let's try these on, shall we?

 

 

Jayde: "It fits really well, and its so soft..."

 

 

Jayde: ...thank you....

 

Me: Aww, don't cry. Come here and I'll do your hair.

 

 

Jayde: We sure made a mess, didn't we?

 

Me: Naw, I think it will all be worth it. Ok, turn around now.

 

 

Me: There you are! I can see your little face now.

 

Jayde: *shy smile*

 

Me: Just a couple more things...

 

 

Me: Bows and socks complete any outfit. What do you think?

 

 

Jayde: "I love it."

 

Me: I'm glad you do!

 

 

Jayde: *shyly* "Thank you for the clothes...mommy."

 

Me: Y-yes, of course, Jayde dear. How could I possibly resist?" *sigh*

Aww, thank you! I'm sure she will. (I have spent waaaay too much money on her already, buying her stuff.) She's gonna be spoiled.

Congrats on finding a home Jayde!

 

She is super adorable! I especially love her hair bows. Plus her outfit is adorable even if it was a quick project. These little buggers have a way of wigging into our hearts, cookie thieves or not, don't they?
