Hello from the UK!

Hello everybody!

I just realised I didn't do one of these so here goes!

Hi!

I'm from the UK and I'm currently in my second year of college (after a year off due to personal reasons). I'm studying Equine Management and then next year I'll be studying Equine Science in Uni either in York or Gloucester. I haven't decided yet.

My hobbies include horse riding (kind of a given), reading, listening to music, painting minis, playing video games (really enjoying FFXIV!!) and of course I love Dollfie Dreams!

I'm really excited to get into the hobby and to get my first girl. I think she'll be an 07 in SWS but that isn't set in stone yet. I've only ever owned resin girls but I'm excited to dip my foot into DDs. I hope to learn how to do faceups at some point as well. But there are a distinct lack of guides and videos out there for Dollfie Dreams.

Thank you for reading!

Welcome!!

I hope to see pics, once you get her all set together!

What brought you to Equinr Management? Do you hope to own a boarding stable someday? What is Equine Science?

I'm from America, and I've never really heard of that so I'm very curious!!

I will be sure to post pics!

I've always been around horses since I was younger, though it was always more of a hobby for me. Then a couple of years ago we had a death in the family and I threw myself into it so much more. Then my A-levels didn't quite go to plan and everything became too much, so I had a year off education and went into Equine because it was something I knew really well and something I could succeed and make money in. So I turned my hobby into my career and then found some new hobbies. ^_^

Equine Science is all about the more sciency aspects of horses. It's a really broad subject! We study everything from anatomy and biophysics to nutrition and behaviour. I even get to do a module on rider fitness and physiology. We also get to study business management and all the fun stuff that goes with that. I'll likely be doing that as I would like to open up my own store one day. If there's one thing we lack in the UK it's boutique stores for equestrian apparel. Everything is either outlet or clearance and it's always the same stuff.

Hello fellow UK hobbyist!

Fellow horse person here! I used to be part of that world ages ago, but never was able to afford my own horse sadly. I'm so jealous you're in that wonderful element of equine science and education. Do you own your own horses or do you plan to?

Anyway good luck on your DD hunt! I hope you find your perfect girl. I really enjoy the SWS DDH07. I've repainted my own so if you ever need tips with that I'd be more than happy to help. We've also got a great faceup artist in this forum who's located in UK called Freya's Faceups. Maybe you'd be interested in her work too?

Hello fellow horsey person! I don't have my own horse right now unfortunately. With my cirbleepstances it would be better for me to wait until after university to get my own.

Thanks so much! I've seen quite a few faceup artists I really like within the EU, so I'll have a further look around and then decide. I'll definitely have a look at Freya's Faceups.

Wow, thank you for posting such a detailed reply!

Here in the US, horses are kind of considered something out of reach for most folk (at least in my opinion). Usually kids get lessons while they're young, but most never end up actually owning one. I myself was part of this trend - lessons while in elementary school, and now my closest contact with them is gazing at small herds in the countryside. It's interesting to learn about the science behind them. I wish you the best of luck!

Also - Frey's Faceups look quite lovely. I'm sure your girl will be perfect!

You're welcome!

It's sad that the US gets the raw end of the deal, especially with how much land there is! Though I started out on my brother's girlfriend's horse since she kept hers at a riding school. So it's definitely possible to do everything you want without your own horse. I'm out competing now on my neighbours horse and I groomed for a show barn last year so I got to go to so many major events with work. It's hard work, don't get me wrong there. But the rewards are so worth it to me.

A belated welcome to the DollfieDreams forum! I have a SWS girl with custom DDH-07 head......with out a name yet.( I didn't have trouble naming the other girls when they arrived, so I think this one will be special.)

You touched on the horse subject, and see how many responded. You'll have no trouble fitting in here. Hope you get your girl soon!
