FancyIndia Posted November 9, 2011 Hi everyone! My name is India and I recently purchased my first doll, who happens to be a Dollfie Dream. I am very excited to learn all about Dollfie Dreams and get customizing. I am currently reading up on how to do the whole face-up thing, which is kinda scaring me ! Oh, her name is ChocoMint and she is an original character. Anyways, I hope to learn a lot on here and get to know some other DD owners.

XOHimitsuOX Posted November 9, 2011 My 1st time was scary too I had to redo my 1st DD several times. As long as you take your time, plan ahead and research possible mistakes that may occur. I'm sure you will have a beautiful girl to show off Do a mock up of what you will like her to look like, for example take a pic of the plain head and try to do the face up in Photoshop or any other package. Or you can draw the eye holes on a piece of paper and draw the eyes, lashes and brows . Once you're satisfied, it time to apply that the head. Prime the head with a clear coat, then draw the guide lines of the lashes and brows. Then use thin layers to paint them in, make sure the paint is not too thick or thin. Use paint retarder to slow the drying time. I think you should give a light clear coat between layers. I have failed several times trying this I need to practice more Goodluck
Poofiemus Posted November 9, 2011 Welcome, India! Good on you for doing a custom girl for your first; they do take some more planning to get together, but they're very rewarding. Don't let the faceup intimidate you too much either. Granted, even as an artist already it was tricky to get Agatha's to a point where I was happy with it, but if you do mess up, you can take some rubbing alcohol, some elbow grease, and possibly an old toothbrush and wipe whatever looked funky. You can do it! In this household, sanity is considered a tresspasser.

AlmySidaKay Posted November 9, 2011 Hiya, I'm new as well, but you are far braver then me, I'm buying my first head pre-painted because face ups scare me! But grats on your new girl! Halcyon Posted November 10, 2011 Welcome, FancyIndia! As an alternative option to doing your DD's face-up, you can have someone else do it for you. Hikaru is pretty well known. You can give him a try (his wait list is very long). If interested, here's a link to his business page: http://www.flickr.com/groups/ohime-sama_aesthetics/discuss/72157626401033342/. I ended up doing exactly what you said and I think it came out pretty well! Took me a while to start, but once I jumped in, it didn't seem so scary anymore. I found it to be similar to applying makeup.
