So the long wait is over! I have ordered my Smart doll Guy for El!

 

his dispatch email I got this morning so it's just a wait now. for now.

Thank you, Tori! I really can't wait to get him here. I think he will be perfect for El. well almost perfect! still need that buff body for him i think but no clue when that will appear in the shop lol.

Yeah hehe.

the story in short with no gory details is as follows.

El and Errors mother when young was captured by a bad clan who were evil assassins, she fell in love with the clan leaders son (adopted son took like she was). He and she had El and Error then when they were young Sora (mother) escaped with the help of Daichi (farther). a few years later they were caught and sentenced to death. Daichi and sora died el lost his eye and got the scar at the same time since the leader missed him then he managed to run and Error was taken to a prison.

 

his eye is like that since Error and El found each other a few years after their separation. Error tried to fix his eye that was missing with magic which is why his eye is dark and fire like. also, it's why his natural hair has gone blue and fire like.

 

 

his eyes I am going to have to customise. I hope to make the eye go from red on the outside to yellow in the middle to have an effect that its on fire which will be a job but I hope to works!

Ahh, I see. That's so cool that you've thought of such a detailed story and world for your dolls! And an eye generated by magic is a really neat idea as well. Makes sense that in a world with magic, losing an eye shouldn't be a permanent injury, even if the magical eye is somewhat different. Does it see everything a normal eye can, or allow him to see anything that normal eyes can't?

I also like the fire-gradient idea--maybe you could try printing something or even painting with metallic ink/paint?

for the making of the eye. it looks like t will be commissioning Eras Flora again since she's the only one that does the black-backed eyes. she said once she's open again she will help so that's all good just have to get on and design it now! (also she's moved to the UK so it will be cheaper for postage then the last time I did order from here haha.)

 

and El's eye for the world is unnatural. it being related to Fire he can concentrate it to produce flames where he is looking so it's closed and behind the patch most of the time(I have two patches here for him when he gets home.) along with his blue hair and orange/yellow hair its seen and not natural so people find it odd. Same with Error her hair is green and that is odd. the only ones with this type of power are though Error has given it to. which is El (Fire and water since they have to be together to stop the fire from killing the host), Isolda has Earth and Izzy has Air.

Question guys. what eye size does the Eiji head take? I am designing Els eyes since I think I saw its like 18MM or something.

Eiji's eyes are weird though I ordered 18mm from Volks and they were WAY too big. The problem is that the eyes are 18mm but the Iris part is much smaller than the typical 18mm iris.

I can take a picture for you to compare if you would like.

 

Once you get Eiji you'll see what I mean if you look at his eyes. You will have to iris to that general shape, which it looks like you are doing anyway.

Eiji's iris size is closer to that of a 16mm eye--it's somewhere around 8mm across. The BJD eyes I have in my Eiji right now are 17mm and have 9mm diameter irises, so iris length between 9mm and 8mm should work well. I think Torino has a photo in the Eiji thread giving the exact dimensions of the defaults, too.

An image would help a bunch! if you had a "Normal" 18mm eye next to it I can see that for a ref also.

Update!

Updating with El is in the UK and I got his custom charge!

It's under £60 so not as bad as I thought though now have to work off my art commissions to be able to pay for it so I might not get him just yet TTLTT

will let you guys know when I pay.

thank you! I am just waiting on Eras to reopen then i can order them.

(Also I am going to give Eris the right to edit and make the Blue eye so if you need an eye for a custom Eiji let her know! but i will be working with her to get it looking right first)

I'm so happy for you that you've finally gotten your Smart Doll Guy. Like the outfit that he has on. Hopefully we can get to see more pics of him when he has his eyes!

Thank you, ^^. I have a wait ahead of me but hope to be early next year that the shop is open again. I may make a blue eye for him while he waits but I also have to make a new eye patch (or mod the one I have now.

 

his eyes are so small i can't hook the band of my second eye patch either so atm he is like this with something to stop him being freaky with no eyes XD

 

I notice your Eiji doesnt look so weird next to your DDs, so I guess it really -is- that my Rin's head is just huge lol.

hehe yeah. his head is much smaller than I thought it would be (the ears too are tiny) compared to the 05 and 09 it is slightly off but for me it makes them look younger compared to him (he has 7 years on Error and 2 on Isolda who's my 05)

 

I have his new hair now it arrived this morning so I am just waiting for his wig caps to get here then I will be working on V2 of his hair. then the wait for eyes but in the mean time I will have his and Izzy's face up to be working on and that includes his body scaring (and hers too)

That was one of the first things I noticed how small his head is haha!

That and how soft the vinyl was for some pieces.

I thought because it was so hot it was just soft when I first received him.

Indeed. I was thinking of getting the custom eyes in 18mm since the iris will be a custom size that they may look better but if you think ti might be better to get it in 16mm let me know. will be a shame to get them made but be the wrong size.

I will let you know how the 16mm looks soon, I will probably order them next week.

Small update with an image of El. I have new hair to make a V2 wig for him and then some temp eyes for the time being until I can get them custom made.
