SisterKyoya Posted September 1, 2016 [This is a continuation after Rollin' with Tama. Kindly please ignore the obviously unfinished or imperfect things. If I waited for the set to be complete it would take me another two years before I could do photo stories again...] Yuriko: "But I'm the big sister so I'm supposed to get the biggest piece." Lucas: "You snooze, you loose." Yuriko: "But we could just trade..." *mumbles* "That was supposed to be mine..." Lucas: *takes a big bite out of the cinnamon roll* "Mmmmm... SO tasty... Just what I'd expect from my-" Naiomi: "Argh! Why does this book have to be so infuriating?!?" Miku: *slurps* "What book is that?" Naiomi: "Megane Magician and What Happened Twenty Years Later. The writing style is so different from the previous seven that I don't even know why they said it was book eight. And it isn't even a novel but written as a play! I love my plays to be sure, but not when all of the previous books were proper novels! Plays are meant to be seen, not read!" Lucas: *wolfs down the roll* "That shouldn't be a big deal to you should it?" Naiomi: "Usually not but I hadn't heard about it until I saw it on the store shelf. The expectation was entirely different. Two decades already pass and then within fifty pages another two years flash by, skipping lots of interesting things that could have happened. Then there is no real sense of setting because of the script format so it's hard to even care about the characters." Gizella: *tries to get Lucas to notice her lounging in her bikini* Yuriko: *mutters* "Stupid boy going and taking the best things..." *aims to kick the ball at him* Miku: *slurps* *THUD* Yuriko: *lands on her back after kicking the ball badly and loosing her balance* "OOF!" Gizella: *blankly stares at the girl now laying on the ground, sneering a little at the percieved inturruption* Naiomi: "Without any sort of setting it's like these half formed characters are floating out in space. These characters that we have grown to love. It's... it's like..." Lucas: "A half finished canvas with no colors." Naiomi: "Exactaly!" Miku: *leans forward and slurps as she watches Yuriko flail on the gound* Yuriko: "Oh no! Not my cinnamaon roll! You don't belong in the grass. Come back here!" Gizella: *turns over as she tries even harder to get Lucas' attention* Naiomi: "And sure the main characters would have grown up but, I don't know. Somehow they just seem too mushy to be grownups. Their dialog is written like they are barely out of high school." Lucas: "I don't know, your parents are overly mushy. It's pretty strange." Miku: *slurps again watching Gizella try to look as if she's just casually getting a tan* Naiomi: "I don't think they are too different from most parents. Are they?" Gizella: *shifts again* Lucas: "Seriously, it's strange. How many adopted siblings do you even have?" *ignores the fact that Gizella is staring at him hard* Miku: "I've wondered that myself." Yuriko: "Poor cinnamon roll..." Miku: *SLURRRRRP* Yuriko: "You are just so sweet and tasty that I can't let you roll off into the dirt. How could I do that with the first cookie cinnamon roll I've ever had? Even your frosting looks so yummy that anyone would be tempted to lick it off. But I won't let them because you are my special treat." Yuriko: "Don't worry cinnamon roll. Even though I'm going to eat you, I still love you very much." Yuriko: "Good thing Mama made some cinnamon rolls too. Then stupid boys won't go and steal the best ones, and I can eat these ones ALL by myself." Bree: "Das not noms! Das BAIT!" Yuriko: "AHHH! Bree! No, you can't have one... they are mine..." Yuriko: "Ewww gross. I don't want a dandelion in my frosting!" Bree: "Yuu. Share DIS! Mine PEASE!" Yuriko: "Here, you can have this back." Bree: "Das fower!" *eagerly takes it* Bree: *shoves it in her mouth* Yuriko: "Now I want to eat these all by myself. I know Mama wants me to share, but if I do I'll never get any sweets just for myself." Bree: *makes a loud spitting sound* "Das icky..." Yuriko: "No Bree, you aren't supposed to eat weeds!" Yuriko: "Here, I'll give you some of my roll as long as you don't eat things that aren't edible. Mama will get mad." Bree: *smashes the bloom into the grass* "Lady. Fower!" Yuriko: "I guess it's not so bad sharing it with a cute girl." Bree: "Sank yoo, Yuu!" *smashes the dough between her hands* ~Sister Kyoya Forum Blog: Badger Pocket Tales (Family story from the beginning) | { Old Family story reboot: Start Here! } Follow me on Twitter, Flickr & Instagram
Monty Posted September 1, 2016 I love this so much. It shows so much of their personalities in so short a time and I agree with Naomi. (I haven't read the book I know she's referring to but I looked at the synopsis and thought it sounded like bad fan fiction... was pretty shocked to see it getting rave reviews anyway by people who kept glossing over the glaring flaws in it, so I was kinda glad when you laid out what was wrong with it on Twitter, mirrored by Naomi here. Thanks to you too I don't think I'll bother with it at lol, and I'm a huge fan of Megane Wizard. (I mean it's probably much better as a play but I still think the synopsis was almost impressively awful) also, Lucas? Your 'what', now? *twitter*instagram*art*
SisterKyoya Posted September 1, 2016 Personalities is something we are not short on around here. If I tried to make a chart of who's friends with whom, who is related, who is adopted, and the varying rivalries, it would just look like a tangled mess. My biggest complaint about the book really is just the fact that it wasn’t written as a novel. If it was, it would have fit in really well with the other books. But as it is it’s just a book of dialog, and LOTS of white space. There’s things that happen during the 20 year span that are referenced to but never explained at all. It just felt entirely phoned in. And it could have been written more intelligently, if you ask me. When I reread it I can at least look forward to making up all the stuff they never say, changing what I don’t like, and make the main characters a couple. It can certainly be read that way! I was rather amused when most of the way through the book I realized I saw the boys as nerdy megane. Those two things for me make it plenty worth it to reread. If it wasn’t for copyright issues I’d rewrite the entire thing. I’m just not too thrilled to do all that work just for myself though, so I just do it in my head. Lucas: “Huh? Wouldn’t you like to know.” Naiomi: *mumbles* “Owner?” *giggles* Lucas: *grins slyly* I do have to say that every time I see your sig and Kaito, the more he’s growing on me. Perhaps it’s because the reality of Len continues to grow as I save for him that the Kaito sized gap in our DD Crypton family is becoming ever noticeable. I can easily wait a couple of years or so to see if Volks will make him, but I have the suspicion he would have a more grouchy/serious head sculpt. Your Kaito seems like a pretty happy guy and that’s MUCH more like I see Kaito. ~Sister Kyoya Forum Blog: Badger Pocket Tales (Family story from the beginning) | { Old Family story reboot: Start Here! } Follow me on Twitter, Flickr & Instagram
Monty Posted September 1, 2016 I just imagine that chart looking like a big ol plate of spaghetti Well, it was written as a play, but since a lot of people didnt get to see the play, they published the script. Still weird but eh. Honestly I would love you to get a Kaito just so there can be at least 3 Kaitos in this forum and the more Kaitos the merrier, especially if they all looked totally different. everyone should have a kaito *twitter*instagram*art*
Poofiemus Posted September 1, 2016 Naomi, I know EXACTLY what book you're really talking about, LOL! And while I could deal with the script format, Harry being so OOC and a *certain character's* fanfic-y backstory was harsh, man. Scorpius was awesome though. I would read the hell out of The Various Misadventures of Scorpius. (He was eerily close to my headcanon, actually.) Poor Yuriko, torn between being nice and actually getting her food. In this household, sanity is considered a tresspasser.
jazijaz Posted October 5, 2016 LMAO!! this story made my day, too cute and funny!! Everyone was in their own little world XD I sympathize with Yuriko, brothers can be annoying sometimes!
katnaper Posted October 7, 2016 I feel bad for Gizella. Sweetie, Lucas is never going to pay attention to you, you poor dear. His interests lie elsewhere. I don't think I ever mentioned how much I'm loving your new set. You've done a phenomenal job with it. I really like all the details, like that planter and the fence, and the dandelions and... and... everything! Its so great seeing your stage sets come together. I also enjoy seeing your DD family and watching them interact with each other, especially Bree. She is quite cute. We have our own BLOG. Please visit us at the House of Nyan by clicking this link or our sig above. See you there.
