DD Birthdays

With Hatsune Miku's birthday yesterday, and owning a DD Miku, I was wondering how everyone celebrates their DD's birthday for the character dolls, if they do. Hatsune Miku's birthday is Aug 31st. I paid for my Miku on May 2nd, but she got to me on May 14th. So I'm wondering if I should throw her a party on May 14th or Aug 31st. What does everyone else do?

I vote you celebrate both. August 31 as her birthday and May 14 as her adoption day, or moving in day. *is totally not secretly in the employ of the DDs*

 

My Mei-chan is a custom DD of a character from Pokemon BlackWhite2 (as is my Smart doll) and to my deep sorrow neither of the characters have canonical birthdays, or at least ones that are known to anyone except the development team. (Mei, being the female protagonist character, may not have even been assigned one by said dev team) If they did, I would totally celebrate those days!

I have a Miku but he is a complete different character so I don't count August 31st as his original birthday.

 

His birthday is the day he got to me which is on July 3rd but I guess my opinion doesn't count...for those who keep the original character, celebrating both dates sounds reasonable.

I forgot Miku's canon birthday was August 31.

 

I got my Miku December 18, so that's usually when I think of her "birthday" being; it's similar with Homura's April 22nd and Nanoha's November 11 "birthdays". Agatha's is July 23, the day her first actual Agatha faceup was completed (and, coincidentally, the day before Alphonse Mucha's birthday, and he's her favorite painter).

 

Abby's birthday I haven't decided if it should be October 15 or so (have to check photo dates), the day she sort of. . . sprang into being, or April 20, the day she finally got her body. I'm kind of leaning towards October, for two reasons: 1) Abby had an unusual amount of interaction for being just a head, and 2) Homura's miffed enough at having to share April as a birthday month with me.

 

EDIT: Abby came into being October 18. I think that'll be a good birthday for her--doubly so since she's named after a joke in Young Frankenstein.

I'm another person in the "both" camp. I only had Kaito for 3 months when his character birthday rolled around on February 17th. So I feel like I wasn't prepped well for it.

 

I consider his other/actual birthday with me to be the day he was basically "complete". By which I mean he had a head and body, faceup, eyes, and wig. Even if they weren't final. So November 17th(Easy to remember since it matches with his character one a bit lol.) Kaito was partially a birthday gift to me, so...I like that we have a birthday in the same month since mine is on the 3rd. So I'll be much better prepared in November to celebrate properly.

Even tho I have character DDs, I don't celebrate their b-days like that. I always set my girls birthdays as the day they arrive to my home for the first time. Like with Manami, she arrived here on June 22nd, 2010 so that is her birthday to me. Every other girl is set up the same so when a new girl arrives, I write down the day they got here so I don't forget.

Amber and Tecra's birthdays are the days they arrived. Cynthia's birthday is the day when the body arrived for her head.

With the vast array of customs I have and now the completed DD count is 20 and counting... I try to keep track of birthdays but it is very confusing. Some of the finished ones don't have birthdays, others have a birthdate set even before they were officially finished (like if a faceup was done and the character was complete but being finished took a bit longer.) Mostly I make note of it by taking a pic on the day so I can just check Flickr when I forget. That way I can at least see how long they have been a part of the family.

 

Tamayuki's birthday is the exception and we always try to do something for that if possible. Last year I was having major health issues and couldn't do it and on his 2nd birthday we were out of town for Raven's grandfather's funeral. Hs stands out more than any other because it marks the day we started in the hobby even though he wouldn't have a faceup for another 6 months. Yuriko came on the same day but Raven waited for her faceup to be complete before setting her birthday. We also have quite a few preorder DD that were delivered in Nov. and we didn't want to clump them all together like that since there is 4 US holidays between Oct. to Jan. as well as 4 human family birthdays including mine and Raven's. So saying that time of year is busy for us is a bit of an understatement.

 

Other interesting birthdays in our family:

• Tama's birthday is the day after my brother's and Dakota's is the day after one of my sister's birthdays, both in Feb. (neither were intentional, it just happened to be when they arrived.)
  
• Rainie and Ringo are twins but have birthdays months apart (until I can fix things with an upcoming storyline)
  
• Ellie's birthday is Friday Dec. 13 and since it was to close to Christmas, every Friday the 13th in the year we try to eat her favorite food for dinner- Kraft macaroni & cheese.
  
• For the longest time Ralph would not say when his birthday was even though he had been 'completed' more than once since he wouldn't quit switching to larger bodies. I finally figured out that he wanted to be 16 years old, and by purely by chance the Smart Doll boy Dev body arrived on mine and Raven's 16th wedding anniversary. He is entirely amused by that. I put him together and knew he had finally found his proper body. Somehow it just seems so like him to do that, because of the alignment of the planets, the juxtaposition of the numbers, or just because it was part of the complicated plan by the alien overlords... I don't know. If you ask him a question he'll give you three different answers, and no guarantees that any of them are his answers.
