Saved up $20 out of every paycheck since I put in my pre-order for Anastasia. Put it all in the bank and she is now officially paid off Got mine through Volks USA so I won't see her till the new year, but I'll be doing store pickup so I can inspect everything in person! All her stuff (eyes/wig/outfit) will be going to Oni-chan and Anya herself for me

 

Looking forward to 2018! I've already got her name & look in my head. Just need to gather all the pieces hehe.

I'm part of the second batch so I've yet to even get my payment notice yet. So I guess I'm looking at late December before I get mine.

 

I regret my decision for not adding the additional outfit for her too >.<

I just got my payment email from Volks for her extra outfit! I can't wait to get that set in hand! ^_^

My shipping conformation was sent about an hour ago.

 

I really hope her wig works for Tama (looks really similar) because it would be nice to have a second one for him. Her new hair is going to take some work and I'll consider it a personal accomplishment once I get it done. It is going to be far from standard. Still trying to pinpoint the outfit I want to do for Lillian. It's going into a historical period I don't know too much about so that adds to the complication. Buy hey, gives me another reason to do research. Hmmm... shoes could be a problem.

I just got my batch 2 notice so yours should be any time if you don't have it already. If you ordered less than a year ago then you should just be able to go into your account and pay it directly on the order too.

She arrived.

 

A few notes for the expectant owners waiting on their boxes.

 

When you open the shipping box prepare to be wowed; her box is gorgeous.

 

Her earrings come in separate pieces. There are metal spikes in a small bag in with the smaller parts of her outfit. The sapphires are in a small plastic bag in with her papers. They're really hard to see because its clear blue plastic against the blue photo on her papers. You will probably see the little bag before you see the gems.

 

Unfortunately she doesn't have pre-started holes in her ears the way Rin Shibuya did. You probably are going to need a pin vice (micro drill for model builders, but ask for a "pin vice" at hobby shops or google) to pierce them. Some of the true experts here might have a better tool or technique, but it's what I used on Rin's ears when I pierced them.

 

Her outfit has white inner parts and her boots are lined with white, but lots of black lace on the edges. It's going to be awhile before she wears those.

 

Her extra outfit has no white lining inside the dark blue part, but the sweater has a shaping wire. The belt is really nice too. Chihaya is already eying it.

My girls are to arrive tomorrow. That surely was a pretty big surprise this afternoon. A bit nervous about energy levels needed to unbox 3 girls and sit in front of my photo lights. With a sun allergy I really try and avoid that at all costs. Last time I did a 3 day photo shoot and by the end my skin was so irritated and itchy that it took a week or so to recover. So I think as much as I'd love to do some unboxing videos, I just don't think I'll be able to. I really wish I could though. I think it would be better for me to spend the little energy I'll have left and do a photo shoot later. Also a better way to capture the details.

 

I love this hobby but I do get frustrated that my health just doesn't allow me to do as much as I really want to. I just have very little energy and I'm exhausted all the time. I'm happy the girls are coming but also dreading the energy crash after the manic excitement wears off. I hate having to take pics with my phone all the time but it makes it at least possible to get pics done. The excitement from the girls may wear me out for 2-3 days, and taking 'fancy' pics with our Cannon is cool, it also requires a lot of energy to deal with them in post-processing, something my phone doesn't really do. Plus the phone pics are auto uploaded to Flickr then all I have to do is unhide them (annoying and you can't do in batches) but it at least makes them easily accessible. Argh. I'm so torn. I miss using the Cannon. *sigh* One way or another I'll figure it out.

Have you thought about using strobes instead of spotlights? They aren't cheap and you kind of need a handheld meter with a trigger for the strobes, but it could minimize your light exposure.

 

Another option might be LED spots. They're a thing now, and they produce light in narrower bands within the EM spectrum if what I read is correct. If you aren't allergic to those parts it might help you. They are supposed to be harder to white balance in post process. Something about them producing light in several narrow bands within the visible light spectrum instead of one band across a specific range.

 

Ok I apologize for the poor lighting and the dingy looking carpet.... It's past due for a shampoo, but it had decent sunlight. I'm actually more than a little embarrassed by these photos. I'll take some better ones this weekend.

This was taken with my phone under a dim florescent light, so not really proud of this image. Anya is gorgeous though, and the photo doesn't do her eyes justice. They're like blue green ice.

Actually that's the shape of the lamp. It does look like a human profile in the reflection though.

Well that's still cool. You could get some great reflections in their eyes for some nice shots.
