sinclair Posted September 9, 2016 Not sure if anyone else has seen this or not, but it'll go live tomorrow. A Miku themed DD carry bag. I'll be getting one. I'm so happy it's a pre-order and not a lottery. Now they just need a Miku themed DD wrap/travel blanket too.
Minty Posted September 9, 2016 Pre-orders have already opened up on the International Site. I couldn't resist ordering one.

Yumeiro Posted September 9, 2016 The only thing is that it screams "steal me" :/ I agree. I really want to order it, but... I feel that actually using it would just tempt fate a bit, yes. So I am a bit torn.
sinclair Posted September 9, 2016 I hadn't thought of that, but that just means you only use the bag when you know you'll be going somewhere safe. So I'll use it for family trips, but use my black bag in public. But then, I don't know anyone that would even get what the bag means.
K-2 Posted September 9, 2016 The only thing is that it screams "steal me" No more than any of those other fancy/brightly colored doll bags. I had the same issue with my Sony Aibo (robot dog) bag, which was bright blue and dog shaped. Either you never physically let go of it or you carry a little padlock to lock it to a table/chair/pipe, etc.
jazijaz Posted September 9, 2016 Thank God it is a pre-order! I've been needing one for my 1/3 dolls. I never physically let go of anything when I'm in public since the day I was at the post office and someone stole my tennis racket under my nose I went to the PO after practice and I had to fill out a shipping form so I put the racket next to me on the counter and I swear it was less than a minute when I finish filling out the form and went to grab my racket and it wasn't there!! I was so confused...I turned around looking for my racket everywhere. Worst of all, there was a line of 5-8 people right there and none of them saw anything. I trust no one and now I put my racket between my legs when I have to do something with my arms/hands. You can bet that this bag will never leave my body when I'm out in public!! On a better note, I just noticed that it is cheaper to order from Volks USA than from Volks international...
littlebirdzoom Posted September 9, 2016 I guess I don't understand how it screams "steal me". I mean how many people are even going to know what is in the bag? And if they do, I don't think it would be on their snag list. But I also don't understand why anyone would just let their doll bag sit there. I have those straps in a hand or around an arm always. Too much money is in there, but I'd honestly be more afraid of someone stealing my camera than my doll. I want it really bad I haven't looked yet, but I hope this version of the pre order is the one I can pay later on xD Waiting for eternity for Volks to release more Idolm@ster girls. vhdangel Posted September 9, 2016 You'd be amazed at the high rate of theft at conventions. I've experienced it at an anime con, someone swiped the doll sized kitty ears I bought in the dealer's room. I met a lady who had her doll taken when she stopped to pose for a cosplay shot. Tons of people in the community have reported people taking things or trying to take things. A common excuse used by young teenagers when caught grabbing things is that they "just wanted to show their friends", claiming they didn't realize it was wrong to "borrow" the item without permission (I had an adolescent do this with my character purse in a mall once). Con security is usually pretty busy with these idiots. I bring up conventions because they're the most likely place I would bring a doll bag, as I don't get to go to a lot of doll meets. Miku is a well known and highly coveted, so someone seeing a bag and recognizing her colors/motif might be tempted to take it, just for the bag itself, not even realizing the prize inside. It's really sad, but so many people nowadays just don't understand that it's wrong to take something that doesn't belong to them.
BeyondTime Posted September 9, 2016 The only thing is that it screams "steal me" :/ I agree. I really want to order it, but... I feel that actually using it would just tempt fate a bit, yes. So I am a bit torn. That kind of crime is supposed to be less common in Japan, so I suppose a flashy bag for your Miku is less of an issue there. While I do agree that this bag does cry out "something special is inside of me!" Any bag can be stolen. If you put something with something expensive in it down and turn your back you shouldn't be surprised if it's gone when you turn back around. The difference between Dollfie Dreams and Heroin? Heroin is illegal, Dollfie Dreams probably should be. “Empty wallets, full hearts.” That’s probably an apt description for the effects of DD addiction

And that _is_ sad 2) I find myself turning into the old lady "GET OFF MY LAWN" more and more at cons, because jfc... we weren't this bad at that age! Like yeah, we did our own dumb things like that elevator party, but nobody took things w/out asking (or touched bits of your delicate cosplay, or glomped w/out warning from a running start, or..) *sigh* I'm the designated "need me to hold your bag/stuff/lunch?" holder at cons now

I want it really bad I haven't looked yet, but I hope this version of the pre order is the one I can pay later on xD I sort of don't get it either because I'm another one of those types. With any bag I have, it's on my arm 99% of the time. I can't imagine ever putting it down and then going off to do something else. Even if I am nearby. Maybe it's just because of the area I come from or something. Around here, most of the older kids and teens will steal literally anything that isn't nailed to the ground just for the heck of it. Doesn't matter if it's valuable or not. They just see it as something to do. -_- It's annoying, but it is what it is. So I really don't trust other people to not take things that aren't theirs. If I value the item and I take out into the public, that object essentially stays glued to me. The bag is really cute though. But I agree that I don't really think it screams "steal me" any more than any other duffel-style bag does(Unless you're going to a con. Then I'd say it probably does.) If I had a Miku, I think I'd really want to go for this bag too though. So you would argue that this bag, compared to a more plain carry case/bag, does not capture your eye? "Who cares what is inside, it looks fancy - it could be for something fancy". I do not think it is an argument about being careless and leaving the bag unattended either. It is an eye-catching bag. And like you said... some just take for the sake of taking. Monty Posted September 10, 2016 For me its cos most other doll bags look pretty non-descript. The one I have, even though its a Volks one, to anyone else it looks like a regular overnight bag or like its carrying perhaps some kind of sports items. The colours are also drab and uninteresting and I assumed that was on purpose. Only doll fans can tell theres an expensive doll inside. But the Miku one is instantly eye-catching. Also, Miku's pretty well-known in Japan and the bag looks expensive. Someone could see what looks like an expensive bag, with Miku colours, and deduce that the person with it must have a reasonable amount of money, which could potentially make them a target. (Obviously crime like this is less of a problem in Japan but I -have- heard of otaku being targeted by thieves in Akiba/etc solely because they're known for carrying lots of money on them.) Could just be paranoia, but it would make me hold it eeeeextra tightly. Personally I prefer the 'incognito doll person' approach so I dont think I'd get one of these. I do agree it's really cute though, would be cool to take to a Vocaloid event. *twitter*instagram*art*
rukitron Posted September 10, 2016 Okay I think some of you are being a wee bit paranoid. First of all I wouldn't carelessly leave any of my bags unattended our out of my sight. I lug it with me or have a friend I trust to watch it for me. Also I'd only take it to places I know people aren't going to rush and grab it outta my hands... I'm tired of lugging my big clunky baseball bat bag with my girls wrapped in old blankets and towels.
Cauldroness Posted September 10, 2016 Different parts of the world -- different events -- and different groups have very different levels of risk. What's "paranoia" in one context is "bare minimum security" in another context, so it doesn't do any good to accuse anyone of paranoia if you don't know their exact situation. I spent several years as a professional trade show & conference manager (internationally certified!) and I've witnessed a TON of theft and attempted theft at certain shows, and other shows you could leave money out and no one would touch it. True stories: - One of our display cases required that you DISMANTLE THE LIGHTING SYSTEM in order to take objects or out of the case. I had to chase down a woman who'd done exactly that while the staff was distracted, had removed a very large item (about 2.5 ft tall, not hugely valuable, either, only about $60), and was trying to sneak it out of the exhibit room. Bonus: Our thief was a Catholic school teacher!!! - Another show, we someone walk off with 3 reams of paper. From a display case. They took apart a display case to steal PAPER. - After every show, we had to inventory display items. At a "good" show, we lose 10-20 items. At a bad show, we might lose 50 or more to theft. - We once had someone steal a piece of our display... not a display item... they ripped a large, foam-core graphic off our booth wall and took off with it! Left a huge hole in our display for the rest of the show. So I can totally understand why someone might be concerned about a "flashier" bag being a higher risk. Thieves steal the WEIRDEST things, they'll steal anything on the basis that it "looks interesting" even if it's not high-value, and the Miku bag definitely looks more interesting than the regular Volks bags. Not that I think it's a bad idea inherently -- if you're in safe, low-theft environment, go crazy with it! But not everyone is in that environment. Noxxbunny Posted September 10, 2016 So you would argue that this bag, compared to a more plain carry case/bag, does not capture your eye? "Who cares what is inside, it looks fancy - it could be for something fancy". I do not think it is an argument about being careless and leaving the bag unattended either. It is an eye-catching bag. And like you said... some just take for the sake of taking. It's a given that any bag with any color on it is going to stand out slightly more than say, an identical black or beige bag with nothing on it. But to be honest, I think all duffel bags stick out to a thief more. Since they're used for such a variety of items that are typically large and expensive. So no, I personally don't think the colors make it stand out more. I think the fact that it's a large carry bag does. And if I were to think like a thief for a moment(one who's looking for value and not an opportunity theft), I would be MUCH more interested in a bag that was bulkier and had more pockets on it than this one does. Even plain. This one looks like it'd probably contain clothes. Maybe a phone and wallet in the flat side pockets it does have. I just don't think people have anything extra to worry about with this than any other large bag, or the other Volks carry bags. Just be protective. And I'd say in a convention where people may know what it is...be extra protective. I say all this as someone who wears nothing but very bright and colorful name-brand purses and messenger bags with "fancy" patterns all over them. I don't own any sort of bag that would be classified as "plain". I have yet to have any of them stolen from me. And it's not like I live in a low risk area or hang out in low risk areas either. I'm this protective because stuff gets stolen around here all the time. Theft is almost to be expected here, so I don't let it stop me from buying what I like. Or else I'd never buy anything. It just changes how I treat things in public. When it happens, it happens. Like Cauldroness said, some thieves steal the weirdest stuff. While there can be a pattern to what they go for, you never truly know what's going to be attractive to each individual and what's not. Everything is fair game to a thief, so I say just buy what you like and then just be careful. It's a shame to miss out on something you want because of other people's possible bad actions. teensybits Posted September 12, 2016 My doll bags (just plain black volks bags) are always being mistaken as carrying bags for photography equipment. They just look like they are built to carry valuable items. When I go to cons etc with them I leave the bags in the room or trunk of the car and just carry a doll along. Sadly it means only one doll per trip, but I can keep an eye on it easily that way.

Aruku Posted September 28, 2016 Personally I love the desing and colour scheme of this bag, it's very eyecatching so I guess why some people could say it screams "steal me" >< But, maybe because I don't have a Dollfie yet, but, I wouldn't take it everywhere, like walking just normally down the street, only that to places I know it's safe or that I need to travel and take her. But at the same time any kind of purse can be stolen, uninteresting or not can get stolen D: Also I'm hoping they do one for Rin and Len !

kranberrijam Posted January 22, 2017 (edited) Ohman, the bag is lined in white? That's wonderful! I just received a black one (non-Volks) and I'll have to wrap my dolls because the inside is black as well. I really wanted this bag but did not have the funds available at the time. Think there's any chance Volks will do another run (rather it be in the US store, to save on shipping)? Edited January 23, 2017 by Guest
