DDP Iori Minase and Yayoi Takatsuki(and Volks news 70)

So judging by the measurements on the site, would it be better to get the 1/4 size or 1/3 for DDP.

 

"1/4 size: base diameter - 16cm, pole length - 40cm (can clamp on 1/4 doll's waist, 1/3 doll's thigh)."

 

"1/3 size: base diameter - 20cm, pole length - 50cm (can clamp on 1/3 doll's waist, 70cm doll's thigh)."

 

40cm comes up to around Iori's chest so maybe that wouldn't leave much room to play around with?

 

The 1/4 size is big enough to clamp at a DDP waist and even to lift her up a bit for dynamic poses (I used one in my shoot in the gallery). The 1/3 clamp is too big for her waist. It would leave quite a bit of room and not hold her sturdily, and you'd have to bend it down a lot to get to the DDP waist level and then it'll just take up a lot of room.

I own both and my Yayoi's been supported by the 1/4 since I got her because I haven't gotten around to making room for her in my showcase yet, so she hangs out on my table at the moment.

Also Yenna, I'm glad I'm not the only one having issues with limbs falling off. So far I've done nothing as extreme as you when it comes to posing and the right leg and arm have fallen off. I sat her down, I stood her up, leg fell off . Not sure what I was doing with the arm, but it wasn't much.

Well, I'm sure the 1/3 can be made to work too -it's just less stable in grabbing her and takes up more space. If you want to lift her higher up from the ground, the 1/4 isn't tall enough. But I found it good enough for normal jumping poses a young girl might do.

Yeah, the pegs are really short somehow and whenever you move the joints (even just simple back and forth/up and down movement) they come loose, and at some point just pop out. It's really frustrating. I need to keep reminding myself to push the legs and the shoulders in every time I've posed her, otherwise at least one of her limbs is going to fall straight off. Very annoying when she's fully clothed. Funnily enough, the elbow can be pulled out a way lot more than on the III frame before the lower arm comes off. With the bigger girls, the only limb that sometimes comes off is that one, because it discreetly inches lower until it drops. :P

Oh thanks! Hopefully it works well so I can make Yonah. I guess I could go with DDS and make an older version if nothing else. Still doesn't tell me what to do for Emil...

Thank you for posting this!!! I’ve wanted to get a DDP body specifically for Rise since they were announced!

Iori is on her way out of customs, so I get to see the DDP in person tomorrow. I’m a bit worried about the issue with arms and legs falling off, but we will see.

I just saw about the joint problem and I just did some tests on mine and not having that issue at all. Joints are nice and firm. I moved the arm back and forth for a few minutes and no change. Even when I pulled outward it was very hard to pull off. Could be there's a flaw on some where the plastic shrunk slightly. Without seeing I can't advise correctly but if joints are loose usually a tiny drop of super glue smeared on the surface of the join gives it added thickness and traction. Just make sure it dries fully and careful not to glue joints together. Super glue can be removed with a little nail polished removed (acetone free version or you'll damage the plastic.)

 

Still I got to say how impressed I am with the new body. Knee joints look so good now and the wrists feel really nice. ^^

I am having trouble with the tracking (USPS showing the box in Greece, greek site only showed that it was picked up from customer until tonight [after I called my local PO this morning to ask if they could locate it] and now it shows it also left US on the 1st, and same day same hour it arrived in a US airport...). If I ever receive my box, I'll also see if my girl's arms are loose. (a problem that a very thin layer of glue might help btw? Anyone tried it?) Edit: just saw this mentioned above, ignore me plz AHA sob

OH MY GOD THAT LOOKS AMAZING!!! It's totally perfect! Surprisingly it still looks more like older Yonah. So I may just do that version of her, in which case what body I use is probably rather flexible. I just realized actually, was that wig choice on purpose?

I use the track and trace site, which automatically searches based on the tracking's code, but you can also choose which other country's system you want to use. This time of year it starts to get really bad for customs. Lots of imports coming in for the holiday season, and then mail delivery starts to get overloaded towards the end of the month too.

 

My local post office seems to be failing to update stuff as out for delivery lately. Like I am sure my Iori is on the mail truck heading my way right now, but USPS has her still at the post office.

So mine arrived yesterday. She's awesome and Foo was right about her wig, it's definitely one of the better ones I've gotten from Volk.

 

I'm curious if anyone has found out if the brown wig cap stains? I have a wig cap on her, but given the style the edge is visible on her hairline.

As much as I hate to double post, let alone triple post, I did find something that might help people with limbs falling off.

 

I haven't dissembled the entire doll, so I don't know how much of the skeleton this applies to.

 

When she arrived she had a foot that was loose and didn't seem to want to stay on. What I discovered is if you push it far enough in you hear a click. At that point the foot swivels nicely, but doesn't come off her leg. So I took her foot off again and looked inside the socket, and sure enough there is a groove just inside, and there is most likely a ring on the end of the leg frame that this grove pops onto.

 

I don't know if this applies to legs, but if I slide the arm into the torso frame far enough it goes in tightly and I have to deliberately pull on it to get it out. If it doesn't go in all the way it's quite loose. If you pull it out slightly while posing her I'm betting it will be too loose to stay in.

 

Not sure about the elbow joints, but I know Foo found the wrist joints have something similar to the foot.

 

Right now she's all dressed up in her Twinkle Star outfit, and I'm not messing with her to pull a leg off.

 

In any event I'm hoping that people experiencing loose legs and arms just need to get them in far enough to make the frame parts seat properly. They seem to have gone with more active support mechanisms rather than friction with parts of the F3 frame.

 

Everything about her seems otherwise solid. The joints are stiff in the right places so they stay in place, and they are loose where they need to swivel. I can't wait to see the DDS-F3, and DD-F3 bodies.

All in all the frame feels better, so I would say it's an improvement over the DIII. I haven't really messed around with how much range of movement she has for poses yet. In the elbow it seems better than the DDII, but not as good as the DDIII.

I went with USA for Yayoi because I wanted them to get sales for iM@S so they bring more of them into the US store for lotteries. I can't wait to get her either.

 

I didn't go with them for Saber/Jeanne because I don't want to wait the extra three months for either of them.

I bought JUST the Yayoi default outfit a few weeks ago and finally got around to trying it out on someone. I only have one 50cm girl so it was obvious who got to try it out.

 

This is Minako. She's an 01 head on a VMF50 body. Her chest isn't the smallest out there but it's definitely not large. I'd say it's a step below a Volks M-bust.

The outfit didn't come with the undershirt/bra, panties or stockings so I had to make due with something else. I didn't use any socks but I used a random blue sleeveless shirt to go under the main dress. All buttons in the back snapped but the very top one is a bit stressed due to her chest size. It locked in place but I doubt it will hold long. The rest of the outfit is fine tho, no odd fitment anywhere.

 

Also, if no one has said anything about them, the necklace and both large star shaped hair pieces are made in two pieces and are magnetic! This makes them soooo easy to get on and off the girls! I know it's not really a big thing but I thought it was pretty dang cool.

Sorry to say but it doesn't fit an MDD *at all*. It's super loose on the top even with the large MDD bust, the sides are too wide and the overall length is too long. I tried it on one of mine in hopes it would at least look okay but it doesn't. I didn't take any pics of it because it looked so bad.

 

I'm out of town until late Sunday so I can't do any pics of it on an MDD girl but I should be able to early next week if you want. If I were you, I'd hold off on getting it for your MDD girl as you're NOT going to be happy with how it fits or looks.

I took her down to redress her, and noticed that where the edge of her forearm piece was touching the vinyl her upper arm (near her elbow) has dented? I didn't think her arm was pressed together that tightly, and I've never had any of my DD's become dented before. It's not a big deal, it's just weird? Does anyone know if heating the part would un-dent it?

 

I'm not sure anyone else has experienced this, but be careful if your girl has pressure against her vinyl for several days.

I'm not quite sure what you mean by dented, but I have had pressure marks or creases appear on the vinyl from things like sitting on a stand for awhile. Usually they just go away on their own after a few days. As far as I can tell Vinyl remembers it's proper shape pretty well.

Ooh, thanks for the pics of Yayoi's outfit on Minako, Billy! She's looking real good. If the shoes fit as nice as they look, I'm really excited for more Volks-made DDP shoes! It'd be nice to have more options for that foot size.

 

It's too bad that it won't fit on MDD-sized girls though. I was hoping to get that outfit for a girl who will either be an MDD or Obi40, but their torsos must really be too short after all. :c I'm surprised it was still too loose in the bust area though since going by measurements I've seen MDD L busts are bigger than DDP S busts.
