DDP Iori Minase and Yayoi Takatsuki(and Volks news 70)

Just got my email from Volks USA that my Yayoi has made it to the US. Next is inspections and shipping later this month.

 

This wait is killing me.

Found a custom Iori!

Just got my VolksUSA shipping notice for Yayoi and her Twinkle Star outfit. She should be here tomorrow or Friday.

Seeing all these adorable arrivals is really making me wish I'd preordered Yayoi. Though I guess I didn't really have the money back when the orders were open. Congrats to everyone getting such precious girls!

My Yayoi arrived on Monday, and I have to say I like her even more in person. Photo's don't do her justice.

 

I'm kind of a sucker for the cute Volks faces like Sakura, Asuna, and now Yayoi.

Any thoughts on when the DDP body will be sold as a base? Really interested in it for a custom I'm making...

DDP is coming to D'Coord? Awesome, I hope that's another step to it becoming standard.

Maybe we'll get lucky and it will be released by Volks USA in a limited fashion like the hands and wigs they just did.

That'd be great if DDP became standard. I'd love a 03 on it. (I love Yukino...just not as a DDIII...I've considered making her into an MDD but DDP would be so much better!)

I'll try to do more photos and experiments once I get my PC fixed... meanwhile I tested out an Azone 50cm outfit for her, and it's a nice fit. I don't notice much improvement in posability for this body- in fact torso bend is really limited, but the upgraded wrists are nice. She fits perfectly in the middle of MDD and DD size, and nicely matches my DD family.

I also got a holiday card from Volks USA with her

I just discovered the ankles have improved tilt mobility, too. Elbow and shoulder joints seem better designed as well- less gaps and screws, looks sturdy, 'shrug' motion works well.

Snow photo is awesome, nice work. I really like your wig and outfit choices with her. Simple and elegant, and they really fit her well.

 

I've been finding that as I play around with the body I am learning more and more things it can do, but i do miss the double jointed elbows of the DDIII body. That was one area where the DDIII was better for sure. We'll have to see the new F3 bodies that come with the Saberface pre-orders. Maybe it's just a limitation of the smaller frame.

Got home on a redeye flight and was happily greeted by the Yayoi box. She is absolutely adorable! The wait was definitely worth it.

I finally got around to trying the coolcats DDS stands on DDP.

 

Just a quick follow up to this earlier discussion. While I haven't gotten an Volks MDD stand with the extender yet I did get two Volks SD stands with the add on chair option. These stands are definitely nicer than the coolcats stands as Foo suggested earlier, and as far as earthquake stability goes they are heavier and the base is wider. They're only slightly more expensive, as a US customer it's probably cheaper to get these stands from USA through first class mail than it would be to get the coolcats ones EMS.

 

The only thing I don't like about them is the plastic pressure tab used to secure the stand in position doesn't seen very strong.

 

I have no regrets on my plethora coolcats stands, but I'd recommend the Volks DD stands over coolcats without hesitation having tried them both now.

 

I still have an issue with the fact that Volks goes out of stock on this kind of stuff for months, but that's just typical Volks. Next month I'm grabbing a pair of MDD stands for my DDP if they are in stock.
