Is there anyone who ordered two girls from the US who can tell me how much shipping was? My friend is afraid to go further because she doesn't have the money in her account and I don't know how much I need to send her :/

I was going to say that they give you the total before you put in your credit card info, but you have to go through the steps as if you are making the payment before you get the shipping amount and additional fees.

 

Posting this here anyway just in case someone else has the same question.

I just received and paid my invoice for Yayoi! I think I'm excited, it's hard to say it's been such a long wait it doesn't seem real yet XD

The only thing that bothers me is I'm really happy about getting them, but so far not excited. That has nothing to do with the girls themselves though. It's just a huge reminder that this has been the bleep year for me, hands down. So much of how I thought the world simply worked has completely dumped me on my head because of insane food allergies. I think I have spent more time being sick and in severe pain this year than feeling well and normal. It's been hard doing anything hobby related because of it.

I'm so broke now, cause I just helped my parents with their dogs' unexpected surgery a few days ago as well as paying for my own doctor bills that were due.

Around September of last year the food allergies started kicking up, dairy, wheat/gluten, I'm a vegetarian who was already allergic to honey and pineapple. About six months ago corn started being a problem as well as yeast, and soon to follow was baking soda (makes my airways swell shut.) The corn has been the kicker since my body reacts to even minute trace amounts in oil, commercially produce citric acid, koji (in many Japanese fermented foods), salt, vinegar, alcohol including baking extracts, black olives (salt?), 'sugar free' sweeteners, any kind of drink/soda/pop that is commercially available, any salt (except one brand), any fortified foods, and the most difficult being water (tap, filtered, or bottled.) I have to drink distilled water since it is the only kind that doesn't make me sick. There are a ton of foods I can't have because it makes me sick due to cross contamination of above foods. And by sick I mean completely stuffed nose, flaming ear infections, and unbelievably painful stomach aches. Found out a couple of weeks ago that the olive oil we have been using fine for months I suddenly couldn't tolerate. Had a stomach ache so severe that the pain was making me sweat.

 

Frankly what I can eat is a much shorter list: fresh produce, some frozen vegetables, frozen fruit, dried beans (cooked at home), brown rice, raw nuts and seeds, distilled water, single ingredient herbs and spices, Real Salt (brand), and tofu (we have only tested one brand so far.) Quinoa, millet, chia and flax seeds should all be okay but haven't tested them yet. Right now brown rice is the only grain I can have. It was a huge relief that just yesterday I was able to add eggs back in after having no reaction. Since the chickens are fed corn and in the US the eggs are sprayed with some corn-based food sealant after they are washed, at my level of sensitivity it could have triggered a reaction. And I've had to do four major food allergy elimination diets this year, this last one starting a couple of months ago. It has been a beast trying to find recipes to work with when my body keeps changing the rules. I was so desperate for a sandwich-like food the other day that I used hash browns (grated potato patties) as bread, seasoned mashed avocado as a mayo substitute, and slabs of tofu drenched in spices (mostly curry powder and garam masala), and topped it with sliced tomatoes. I was amazed I liked it so well. It is the closest I've had to a sandwich in at least 4 months after finding that most commercially made gluten-free flours still trigger a reaction so I can't use them. I've had to research into how to make them at home, as well as homemade vinegar, ketchup, spice mixes, even how to extract my own cooking oil (store bought is extracted using some chemicals that make me sick), potato chips once I can have oil again (hey, sometimes you just need junk food), coconut milk & oil from fresh coconut... I'm still wondering how to make pasta at home from brown rice. Everything I eat has to be made from scratch. A lot of my substitutions are odd to say the least, but I've gotten used to eating a bag of frozen blueberries in a bowl like breakfast cereal. That one still cracks me up because it's something I would have loved to do as a kid but would have gotten in trouble.

 

Once I figure out how to do almond and brown rice flour at home I should be able to have pancakes again, but even so I still have to test granulated sugar and maple syrup to see if they are safe. I may never be able to have gingerbread cookies again (my favorite) if I can't eat molasses without a reaction. My birthday is in a few days and it was the first year that it looked like I wouldn't be able to have a birthday dessert. Started researching last night and it looks like I might be able to make a pumpkin pie that's safe enough but I'm still trying to figure that out.

 

So having my girls paid for and packing up to come home is a huge relief. Finally something I can just be happy about. And the unexpected bonus of me being a freak about my savings is I had enough leftover that I can finally get Miss Lottie's DDdy body, Tama's MDDIII arms (he's still using MDD arms because they were out when I bought the rest of his body), and about 5 Volks outfits. After the year I've had it's nice to have so much money to splurge on just fun stuff. Plus it will make the wait for the preorder girls arriving that much easier to be patient for. Plus I can't wait for Tama to get his new outfit. It's the girliest 'boy clothes' I've ever seen for an MDD and fits his style really well. This will not be a deterrent to his many sisters who still want to dress him as a girl much of the time. LOL!

Just paid for mine too. With the way the schedule works out it looks like I get Anya in October, Iori in November, and Yayoi in December. I'm now in the Dollfie-a-Month club.

Not sure if this will help at all, but the Mormon church has or at one point had an arm that sold wheat grinders. Not a Mormon myself, but my stepmother used to bake bread and ground her own flour. She always went to them when she needed a new grinder.

 

I have no idea if they sell anything that specialized, but they are apparently the best place to go if you want an in home grinder for baking.

Recently a dear friend of mine was diagnosed being allergic to rice and oats. She feels absolutely miserable sense those were her staples for awhile.

 

What she can't eat without getting violently ill: coconut,soy,wheat,eggs,milk,butter (basically any dairy),rice,oats.

 

She gets very violently sick for days if she eats anything that she is allergic to. I feel terrible because she struggles as groceries have become real expensive for her.

 

But weirdly she can eat corn.

 

She's hoping to get a sws mdd with a 10 head soon as her first doll ^^ hope she will cheer her up.

I think you can go ahead and pay for it. Assuming you checked your junk mail folder already? When I logged into International I did see the option to pay for Anya, but I used the link anyways. I can't imagine they would give you the option to pay on the order itself if they didn't want you to use it.

 

The email links are required if the order is over a year old, because you can't see orders placed more than a year ago in your account.

 

If you are waiting on other dolls, and have no notice, I would contact them at the email listed on the pre-order section of the webstore. From the wording on their website all notices should have gone out on the 4th for batch #1.

I'm glad I did the downpayment at Volks USA, it was way less painful this way

And I'm really stoked for DDP body, they look super cute in the Volks photos so far and I'm interested in the new inner frame system as well.

I logged into my Volks account to pay for my preorder, but she is no longer sitting in my "entry status" page. She was there the other day, but seems to have vanished? Anyone else having or have had this issue?? I don't know how to pay for her if she's not displaying there. SOS

I'm guessing it's because you ordered more than 12 months ago, so it automatically vanished.

 

When Volks sent me the email notice to prepay, they included two URLs to click. One is to get you to log in, the other is the link the payment page (click it after you've logged in). If you follow the link in the email you should be able to pay for it.

Yeah they shipped a day ahead of schedule. Next batch of payment notices should be Monday night for the Americas and Tuesdayish for everyone else.

Haven't gotten mine yet, but no surprise there. I regularly pay as soon as I can but seem to always end up at the tail end of shipments. I wonder if in part their lists are alphabetized by state, putting Washington near the bottom. No biggie though because I'll still get them before the Volks USA batches are shipped.
