DDP Iori Minase and Yayoi Takatsuki(and Volks news 70)

Thought so, couldn't quite remember as I didn't order her. I guess this means the USA branch will continue to get pre orders in the future.

Being bored and looking at the scans again (I am wanting Yayoi's default outfit more for my future MDD, sigh.) I saw the page for DD-f3. What is that, can someone translate please? Is it a DDIII v2 frame, or is it just for the DDP?

It's the new frame that's inside the DDP.

I'm wondering if everyone has to wait for Iori and Yayoi to come out in order to see the DDP body or if they'll release it separately before that (unlikely I guess). I'm really interested in it but will probably have to wait a whole year for reviews 8')

I'm hoping another doll will have the body to see more pics and comparisons. Very excited for it if you couldn't tell.

It seems to me like the slimness of the arms and legs on the DDP necessitated a frame redesign. One thing I just noticed about DDP from the images in Volks 70 is that the waist size hip size ratio is much more natural. It's still very idealized, but seems closer to human normal which is nice.

Well, now I know why I wanted to think on these two so hard. They will work for characters of mine actually. Iori as Lucy, and Yayoi as Hannah. Iori will need a DDS body and possibly a new faceup, but we'll see, while Yayoi is gonna be perfect as is in that regard. Their outfits, wigs, and eyes will be going so I may set this up as a split if there's any interest. The extra DDP body will likely go to my boyfriend since it would fit a future character he has in mind.

Sure there is the long wait involved but it's fun seeing and hearing about the various projects that develop, without the worry and stress of the lottery or trying to guess when various parts will be in the store. Maybe part of it is being able to see projects that I don't have to do. Either way I just find it a really fun part of the hobby.

I don't think it's weird at all to get excited about that actually. I do too! It's interesting to see what people come up with. Honestly I was never planning on shelling those two in doll form because well, at the point in which the story they're from starts, they're dead, plus I'm already planning out so many of them. With all the releases coming out that fit so well, I'm looking at a cast of 14 characters since if I make these guys I have to make Matt whenever a suitable male sculpt comes out. At this point I'm making every reasonably important character in the story excluding the 3 villain characters I have fleshed out so far, and it's getting harder to make excuses not to do them. I do think I'll keep them a bit separate from the others. I'd kinda feel bad for my other characters otherwise... Plus I think Ted would kick a certain yellow-eyed sociopath off the table if he so much as looked at Celia.

 

That's all just for that story too! I have at least two more girls to make for the other one I've got going for me, another fairy and an adorably shy succubus. That series is turning out super female dominated too, I kinda want to do something about that but nothing I try seems to fit except for if One of my boyfriend's characters made his way into it but I kinda doubt that would become canon. It's just an incredibly adorable crossover thing at this point. Anyways rant over!

Death doesn't have to be the end of it, just ask Miss Lottie. I also have another character I made when I was doing some cartoons (my avatar is based on their style of artwork) and ended up with a small group of essentally chibi Goths. One of them dies very early on and her character is a ghost. As cute as they can be, the story is pretty violent for at least a couple of them.

 

I have a 'villain' character that's waiting to be added to my DD story, and no it isn't Kyoya. I find it a bit unnerving when my DD family is too quiet. It partally has to do with growing up in a less than normal household were screaming matches were a nightly event. It's not something I'm proud of but it did warp my perception of 'comfortabily normal.' So while the villain has his place, at the same time I'm happy that his head is in a box for the time being.

 

Even Skipper has a less than normal association with one of her relatives. Lucas's past isn't so great either. Miss Lottie s a vampire who was never intended to be here but for an accident I blame on a certain DD. I really like having a happy family and all that, but with my personality I can't deny that they all have their dark/negative sides as well.

 

I really tried at the very beginning to not like the preorder girls... but that didn't last long once I realized that Iori would work so well for Skipper. Just the day before I told Raven that her and another similarly associated DD were at the least 3 years away... Then Skipper made it very clear that she wanted/needed the other DDP pink outfit, so then I had to think of what to do wth the leftover bits... I'm a tad ashamed to admit that I decided to get a irl just for her clothes. Good thing I have uses for the rest of what they come with.

That is true, plus once I get those three all together I can take cute yet feelsy pictures of Celia spending time with her old friends. My one story can be incredibly dark and awful at times, but it has it's lighter moments too. It needs balance after all.

 

The reason I'm so apprehensive is that these villains are for the most part so incredibly awful. They just do some really, really horrid things. One is a sociopathic yandere and it's unclear if he's like that due to his horrible upbringing or because he was born that way, another is an incredibly powerful person with a raging god complex and the power and skill to back it up, and the third is a disillusioned woman who's gone mad throughout the years and thinks her horrible actions will somehow reunite her family.

 

Honestly I'd feel pretty bad for having them all so close to Celia who's the person they've all managed to harm. Long story short it's f'ed up. I'm both impressed and scared of myself for coming up with all that. I just wish I was better at writing than I am now. I try and start the story and keep screwing it up with pointless tangent after tangent, and trying to go in after the fact and fix it just makes it worse than what I had to start with! So frustrating.

 

I also was kinda trying to not have an insane collection of dolls from just one series of mine by keeping it to the main main cast but volks keeps making things that expand my plans even more! Having my Takane as Aveline means I need to make her husband (Although his identity is serious spoilers.) and his two comrades, anastasia makes the perfect Sonya who thankfully doesn't have anyone that has to be made if I make her. Now these two!

 

If I see sculpts that look like my bad guys at this point I will make them. They win. I guess it just means that once I expand my doll area I can try some pretty awesome fight scene pictures. If only I could use photoshop for all the special effects. Celia needs to stab someone in the back with an ice bolt! Or go into that altered state where she manages to basically vaporize her opponent, although not having someone nearly die to make it happen this time would be nice.

Idk how I never ran across that when I had researched the topic, and describing him that way is a very brief way to get the point across but it does lack a lot of nuance, including the fact that with the way he talks about certain things, the things he says and the occasional restraint in his actions hints at him maybe not truly lacking empathy for others. He tends to justify his actions with arguments of nihilism, or just saying that it doesn't matter to him. You'd think someone who really didn't care at all would feel no need to do that, and those excuses aren't really provoked by the other characters most of the time. I do think I want to leave that up to interpretation though, it'd be kinda hard to not do that anyways considering the perspective of the story.

 

@sinclair I'd ideally like to sell the whole outfit honestly, it's harder to sell partial stuff you know? But I'll keep you in mind!

The stuff I have read is pretty recent in scope. I'm much more familiar with Simon Baron-Cohen's research into empathy and empathy disorders than I am with Robert Hare's work with sociopaths, but those are the two leaders in the field. Their recent research projects have used very modern scientific tools like fMRI and also have been able to take advantage of the research done by the human genome project.

I'm glad to know that ONE of the pages was updated. Hopefully the English one won't be far behind. If we are lucky it may even be updated before my birthday on the 8th. [/sarcasm]

Yeah I got that email but I'm waiting for the specifics for each girl and all that because I usually check them over about 5,000 times. I am glad for Volks USA getting preorder girls though. I still perfer to get mine through International because it's a shorter wait on a freaking long wait.

I normally go through Volks International for preorders but the dollar-yen exchange isn't as nice as it used to be, so I'm mulling it over.

I am going to order Anastasia through Volks Intl specifically because I don't want to wait the extra two months for her. (Assuming they have the normal US delay.) But I'm opting to get Iori and Yayoi through Volks USA. Partly because I want to support them for offering iM@S, but partly because the extra two months will make Yayoi financially doable.

 

I think I'm only interested in her for her body though.

I kind of want Iori....but I don't know there are more important things I need to get first, but pre-order is so enticing...ughh

Yeah, it sounds like the Idolmaster DDP outfits will only fit DDP girls -- so you'd need a DDP to be interested in the outfit -- the only way (right now) to get a DDP is to pre-order an Idolmaster girl -- which means you're already getting an Idolmaster DDP outfit, so why would you join a split for an outfit you're already getting?

 

Sure, in theory, someone might order Yayoi and want the Iori outfit, or vice versa, but I think that's going to be a pretty rare case because anyone who wants the outfit probably wants the character as well (and thus would likely just pre-order both).

 

Add to the fact that the pink Idolmaster performance outfits always sell poorly and it sounds like a doomed split from the very beginning, unfortunately.

 

(Other items -- wigs, eyes, stuffed bunnies, jewelry -- would probably be picked up in a split but those outfits are dooooooooooooomed.)
