DDP Iori Minase and Yayoi Takatsuki(and Volks news 70)

Preorder placed for Yayoi... Time to start saving I guess forgot about the kimono sets and fell asleep

Whooo, after barely missing Ribbon Girl last night (had the add to cart button, but out of stock errors whenever I tried) I manged to catch it this morning!

Sigh. The Ribbon Girl outift aludes me yet again.

So I was doing a little research on the ribbon girl restocks, Volksjp was restocking the set every hour or so. But they restocked very small quantities.

 

It's like they were teasing everyone.

 

So keep an eye on the page! They seem to continuously restock it!

It doesn't have a complete "SOLD OUT" tag yet it has the "Will be restocked" tag.

Put in my order for all 3 girls. FINALLY got things resolved with Ringo after I found out (via google translate app) that the DDP should be 50cm. Ringo is just not allowed to be taller than Rainie and she's known it from the start. So I think all of that is finally settled. Also Raven bribed her with one of my bday presesnts, a Volks MDD outfit. She is pleased to say the least. She has already decided that her and Skipper are going to be best friends. I can't wait to see what Ringo looks like in Yayoi's wig. It will be fun mixing and matching the outfits for Skipper. The outfits just really remind me of Violet Beauregarde, especially this pic:

 

 

For various reasons I find this completely hilarious.

 

Still trying to wrap my mind around that I have a head sculpt for Hatoko after I never really thought I'd get the chance to do her. Going to be another floating head for a while. Way too common occurance around here because I really hate swappng bodies.

 

Well, DD #23-25 are now official. I cannot comprehend. Seriously.

I got to see these two, plus Anna and the DDP body, at the store today.

Maybe it's just cos I'm not personally interested in them but there wasn't that huge a difference to me seeing them in person like there was with Rin and Len, both of which genuinely shocked me from how cuter they were. I'll leave that judgement to you guys!

I think Yayoi's pretty cute but I also think her pupils are too big?! I'd really like to see how the sculpt looks with different eyes in. Also...the photo just above, is it just me or is her wig showing part of a white wig cap above her ear??

Thanks so much for the pictures, Torino! They girls don't seem as smiley in person as they did in the promo pictures. If I were to choose one, it would definitely be Yayoi, but they are both very cute. I am really liking the look of the DDP body.

Ohhhh thank you so much for the photos Torino! I think I like them even more, seeing them from up close. Yayoi is just so bubbly and cute, and Iori has a slightly more refined charm gahhh~ I'll agree about Iori's wig though... I have no idea what I'll do with it if I keep it, but I'm already looking forward to customising mine!

 

That being said, I'm holding out to order a little later to get in with batch 2 of the preorders, for the sole reason that this is a pretty new body so I'm hoping if there are any problems they'll be corrected before they ship out! ;

Forgot to say, I think both of them have similar size pupils. I like how their eyes turned out, both pairs are really pretty.

 

I am hoping that is just wig stopper showing above Yayoi's ear in that picture! I hope her wig can be pulled a bit further down.

That's actually really smart. I remember the wave 2 Sabers had a lot of fixes that the wave 1 Sabers didn't.

Thanks a lot for the pictures of these two and Anya, Torino! I still think a more genki smile would fit Yayoi a LOT more but both of them look really cute overall. I like Iori and Yayoi as imas characters but do not love them enough to justify preordering them. I'm more on the fence with Anastasia because her body and outfit style are what I want for another of my girls but I'm still not completely sold on her face(Ranko would be perfect but her aftermarket price....).

 

If Yayoi's outfit could fit on a Parabitsu 40/45cm I'd definitely want it for one of my youngest girls though it most likely wouldn't, sigh. My preteen duo would love to wear Yayoi(and Ami/Mami)'s outfits..! ;___;""

I find it really sad I didn't realize that Yayoi doesn't wear a striped top and that those white stripes are actually just attached to her jumper until she was leaked as one of the preorders.. derp. I regularly rewatch parts of the anime and games too so I feel so embarrassed lol xD;;;

Definitely looks like wig cap to me. You can also see one on Iori right up at the top of her forehead in the very last photo. Iori's wig negates her signature giant forehead imo.

 

I do kind of think Yayoi should have a more cheerful smile.

Some advice when taking photos with your phone though, if you want a closeup it's better to be far away and crop the photo, rather than trying to fill the frame when you take it. I took these with my phone showing the difference:

 

 

 

The ones on the left are from trying to fill the frame as much as I could, the ones on the right are taking the photo from much farther away and cropping afterwards.

 

(I hope this doesn't come across as snobby but a lot of people aren't aware of this)

Thank you for the photos Torino! I'm actually like Yayoi a lot more in these pics. Iori is still my favorite but I'm glad I can appreciate Yayoi more. They really don't look as happy as the do in the promo shots though.

Thank you so much for the pictures, Torino! I can't help but agree with everyone else; Yayoi looks less cheerful than in the promo pics. Her expression almost looks softer, in my opinion.... And I can't help but want her more than ever now!

Thanks for posting this, foo! I've noticed that distorted effect in closeup doll photos before, but had no idea how people achieved it! I tend to take mine from further away and crop them. I'm kind of hooked on cropping all my pics.

Which is arguably a different view to what Volks offers as possible (dont worry, you dont come across as snobby. I appreciate knowing this.)

Otherwise I can try again next time I'm there - granted that's not till the 29th when me and my friend pick up Len so I'm not sure if they'll still be on display then. The Volks blog does have dates listing how long the display ones are out for the different stores but they never list Fu kuoka. ;; Some ended before the 29th but others continue into early November. If anyone has any specific angles they wanted to see that I didnt cover, for example.

As cute as they are, neither they nor Anastasia scream "take me home" to me, so I think I'll pass on this round. Congrats to everyone who does make the commitment to getting them, though!

Thanks for adding more photos. I think Iori's more serious mouth is right for her character, but her wig is wrong.

 

This is how I think of Iori.

 

Yayoi on the other hand should be smiling and she's not.
