posting pictures

Is there a tuturial for posting pictures on forums. I tried adding pics to a thread and all I get is a generic graphic.

What image hosting site are you using? There's a thread about Flickr here. viewtopic.php?f=23&t=888

Since that thread is old and Flickr has, like most websites, changed, the instructions there dont really apply anymore.

I dont know what you've been copypasting for the pictures to not show but your URL needs to end up .jpg

You can use any image hosting site you want and put the URL that ends in .jpg in between the IMG tags - but theres the chance that the picture will be so huge it takes up the entire page and no one can see it properly. To avoid this, use which automatically resizes.

 

If you use flickr, you can actually select what size you want the image to be when you get the BB code and its really easy one you know what you're doing. Plus if you use a smartphone or tablet camera you can get the Flickr app and upload pictures straight there.

 

Anyway here are some updated instructions for Flickr.

First you want to click the cloud with the arrow here to upload your image.

Dont forget to actually click 'upload one' (or however many) after getting your image there, though. Using my beautiful photogenic cat as an example here as its the first pic I found on my PC.

Click upload and it gets added to your photostream. (ignore the fact that my mouse is hovering over 'public', you dont need to actually click that, and clicking it wont actually do anything)

It should automatically take you to your photostream, but if it doesnt, just click 'photostream'. Click your image. To share it, you click this arrow down here.

There's lots of ways to share an image but the one you need is 'BB Code', so click that. Now you have a choice of sizes for your image. You can select them from the dropdown menu and the code will change. All you have to do is copypaste that code straight into a forum post, you dont need to add anything else as its all included there already.

But make sure you preview your post first, so if the image is too big you can select the code for a smaller size.
