Anna-neko Posted September 21, 2016 Full album if u wanna zoom into anything - Flower crowns - the clumsy tutorial! It works same if you want to make a full circle or just "half" headband I am all about big flowery headwear! Ok, everyone ready? Let's roll! You will need: -- a bunch of flowers from wherever you can find them (Michael's, Joann's, some other local crafts store) -- floral tape -- scissors -- ribbon The wire inside the flower stem itself is sturdy, so grab wire-cutters if you have them. If not.. it _can_ be broken with scissors, just very carefully worrying it back and forth & kinda takes a few tries? You will need your girl only for this part - measure her head for base size! Hold the tape where the crown will sit. Not a crafty person and have no soft measuring tape? Use string! a piece of bendy twist-tie from garbage bag! Anything that's big enuff to wrap around & mark will work Have your measurement? Good, now put your girl away. Trust me, once we start working... you don't need her near that mess Now, here's our supplies. This is actually from another project (we'll only use BLUE)... but do keep in mind you will need at least 2 or 3 stems (one "stem bunch" only holds maybe 9 blossoms?) Also, this image doesn't show. but you will also need filler leaves. Some stems may not have leaves! (baby's breath for example, only has white flowers & no leaves) Either buy another plant piece that has a lot of leaves you can use, or make your crown of 2-3 diff type of flowers as that'll fill up more space Time to take the plants apart. Absolutely EVERYTHING here can be disassembled w/out scissors or much effort. Every piece of leaf & blossom can be popped right off protip: do be careful & don't pull on the flower petals themselves. You might pop them off the tiny piece of stem keeping the flower together The bloom itself can usually be taken apart further on this plant the leaves are one obnoxious piece. If you want - use as-is. Or carefully snip them into separate leaves (I use bits of both) All my pieces ready! This is only one full stem worth, it isn't really much Prepare your tape before starting! Cut up a few strips. It shouldn't stick to your tabletop if laid out Floral tape only sticks to itself. When crafting the stickyness 'activates' when the tape is stretched OR from your hands body heat. ....so.. as you work your fingers will get all sticky & gross, but the tape can be easily removed & reattached to the flowers at any time w/ minimal mess ~~~~~~~~~~~ Ok, all bits ready - assembly time! I've cut a piece of stem to length, and wrapped it in floral tape. You're going to want to tape it fully from end to end (sorry, got lazy .. also un-taped ends are easier for me to hold) IF you're going to be making a full crown - DO NOT bend the wire into a full circle just yet! Keep it as wide arch as you work, and when nearing completion only then start bending it further another IF - if you're looking to make a more 'rustic' sparser daisy-chain style band: you can strip off the green plastic off the stem as well, then wrap the entire thing in brown floral tape I usually start from middle-ish of the band & then fill in right & left alternating, but start wherever you're comfortable holding it Place your first piece & securely wrap that tiny lil stem to the band with tape For longer stems twist them around the band for better hold. Leaves can be twisted if placement demands it, but don't force it.. these things are still plastic & try to hold certain angles blossoms have super-short stems you're having trouble holding? Tape them together before adding to the crown! Now it's just a matter of repetition: hold a piece, tape it on, add another piece, tape it on I tend to alternate blossom/leaves, or sometimes will leave a wider gap between leaves & add flower into it later yawp, just keep adding! Some pieces aren't looking right anymore? carefully take off that tape & try again coming together nicely Now as a headband - this is done (tutorial isn't over, promise) DON'T RUN & PUT IT ON YOUR GIRL JUST YET!! You were working with all that tape & it's still sticky from being pulled around. Just leave the finished crown alone for a bit. Go wash your hands, have some tea... the whole thing will stop being sticky to the touch in couple hours anyways, back to Arturia braving a fresh crown for teaching purposes Don't place the plants to the very ends of the band - you want a lil bit of space there to tuck into your girl's hair. Have you kept that arch wide while you worked? Now's the time to apply bit more pressure to the sides to tighten the curve to the perfect headband BUT THIS TUTORIAL ISN'T DONE YET!! There's still another tiny step for those who were making a full crown! As with the headband - leave a bit of empty space on each end Now, carefully apply pressure to bend your circle shut You want those 2 edges to overlap (good thing my edge had no tape, can see that bright green!), then grab your ribbon, wrap around the overlap once, tie a secure knot, then use rest of length of ribbon to wrap it around a bit more & tie a cute bow. You can wrap the overlapping edges with tape first, for added security. Then do ribbons over it Since I wasn't making a full-size band... this is just right to circle Her Grace's ponytail =P ___________ pic spam - The blue-and-white one has multiple ribbons tied in the back, because why not! jadepixel Posted October 15, 2016 I'm having a lot of fun making fall-themed flower crowns with orange flowers. Wish I could find some small leaves that aren't cheap plastic, no luck at local shops. These slightly large leaves came from the bridal section of Hobby Lobby. jadepixel doll lab jadepixel eye shop

These slightly large leaves came from the bridal section of Hobby Lobby. ahh, thats a lovely crown!! ♥ yeah.. finding things that are small, but not like fairy garden or Barbies tiny is so frustrating! 3 aisles of flowers and only 4 sad ones you can use ;_; As absolutely last-ditch resort, there are SEQUINS that might work. They come in diff colors, and are shaped like tiny leaves (tend to show up in the aisle with glitter stuff)
