finnleo Posted September 23, 2016 This set began while I was making my big stage so to speak. For the first few photo's I didnt put much effort into, since they were just to show the work in progress for the platform. But for some reason Nina did look quite good in Kosmos'es default wig, and I decided to add some contrast by swapping the top of the TC Doll outfit for a vintage china dress of presumed dark ages volks origin. For those interested the platform is made to a approx 2x1 meter size, is based on a fig frame, with slices of pine glued to the frame, and then sanded as flat as possible. There was a reason I took this approach, and didnt go with floor laminates which would have been quite a bit more easy and faster. Hope you like.. nina062 nina061 nina060 nina065 wood126 nina064 nina063 And then enter the dark arts of post processing with white balance adjustments. nina068 nina070 nina069 nina067 nina066 nina075 nina074 nina073 nina072 nina071 ... and thanks for looking. finnleo Posted September 28, 2016 Thanks... Though Nina's perhaps more of a boss-type than helper.. also the stage was still in a raw state here, but maybe some day it'll get wall's and whatnot's.
K-2 Posted September 29, 2016 Your stage looks great so far! I guess I'm not the only one with a shooting stage dedicated to their dolls. A couple of things to think about. If you're considering building walls to put around the sides, think about making them separate pieces that can clamp together as needed. It's always nice to be able to move a wall for a lighting position or to fit in a big prop or remove them entirely to hang a backdrop. Building an open frame around the perimeter of your stage can give you something to attach your walls to and can also be used to support drapery, lighting instruments, hanging props, etc.
finnleo Posted October 1, 2016 Thanks. It was originally planned to have the option for different sides, since one idea point was that it had to be able to collapse into a smaller space, since it does take a fair bit of room when spread out, even without walls. but its been six months now since this point, and even after sorting a few problems that came up with varnishing it, I'm very much lacking inspiration to complete even the default idea I made it for, despite having made some furniture for that.
