I haven't traveled overseas, but I've flown all the way across the country multiple times. If I don't have room in my carryon for whole dolls, I put the bodies in my checked bag and keep the heads in my carryon. I've never had any damage (even when traveling with resin dolls), because I wrap them well in bubble wrap.

I've never had to open my dolls for inspection, but it is a possibility. I figure the xray people have seen all kinds of odd things packed in baggage, and some agents don't even look twice at my dolls. I mentioned to one TSA agent that I had dolls in my carryon. She said, "That's exactly what it looks like." As long as it doesn't look dangerous, they probably don't worry about it much.

Good luck!

Not overseas but around Europe? Yes. And within the same country via airplane? Also yes.

I always take dolls in my carry on luggage. Always. I don't trust they won't be smooshed in any weird manner if I leave them in my suitcase, so I just don't. Just make sure you wrap them nice and securely in a soft white pillow or something of the like so that they don't get damaged or stained by other things in your bag and you should be more than fine

I've flown within the US, and like others on this forum, I only put dolls in my carry on. No issues with TSA, as long as the dolls aren't body packing phone chargers or bluetooth speakers.

Took the dolls out on the plane, and the response was mostly either indifferent or positive. The flight attendant thought she was a dog at first, and almost asked us to put her back in her carrier. Had a nice laugh when she realized her mistake.

I've flown internationally with a DD twice. I used the Volks carrier bag and wrap them in a white towel, plus a folded white towel on top to bulk up the padding. It was carry on. In the plane they went in the overhead bin, when putting it up there I realized the bag was a lot smaller than I thought it was. No questions through airport security (Vancouver, Tokyo/Narita, Malaysia's Kuala Lumpur).

I also put a giant ziploc bag over their heads & upper body when putting them in. It stops the long wigs from frizzing up, and also for basic protection against scuffs.
