LA Dolpa 2017!

I just got this in an email!

 

 

Darn it, Volks! I couldn't have guessed you'd do another Dolpa so soon in the USA! Of course, right after I leave CA you announce this too.

 

BUT MAN, I'm excited to see what happens! Already looking forward to all the pictures! (A year from now lol)

Now that I look that's the same hotel as last time, huh? That's exciting! I guess it is safe to assume it may be "limited" like last time?

I just saw this posted on Facebook. I'm always out of town during Labor Day weekend, so I guess I'll be missing this one as well.

Pretty excited to attend again and meet up with people Though I was really hoping there would be another one before 2016 was over, but ah well~ I'll make sure to keep that day clear since I always have the weekend off.

There were many DD owners with the DDs at the event At the Tea Party there were also plenty of DDs being displayed at tables and in the costume contest being held. Super Dollfie & Dollfie Dream owners were both welcome to the event

 

And there was plenty of DD related items for sale in the shop as well

I think the only SD only element was the Dollfie Doctor. That was resin only.

So is this an open event or is there a limited number of tickets to be sold? How big was the last event? I'm asking because with this much notice, I think I *might* actually be able to go to this since I now get paid vacation time at my job. And I'm guessing it's just one day? I'd want to make a weekend of it so maybe if I do wind up going, I'd like to impose on some of the Cali DD owners and hang out a bit if that's possible.

And Dolly Doctor has ALWAYS been SD only. He deals with tightening string, and the like. Things that aren't really of concern with DD.

I'm really actually bummed that I'll miss this one as well. If this becomes a trend though, I'mma make a point that one of my visits back to CA will be around this so I can attend one.

Last year there was not a limit on how many people could get in (if I remember correctly), but there was a lottery for the tea party, which is the main event (Lotteries take place here). In the end though a lot of people actually got in who hadn't gotten into it originally via lottery and the group that didn't made a huge dolly meet-up of their own. You still had access to dealers and such, which they had some really nice stuff. (I got to see a lot of my friends' goodies o3o)

 

The event was one day only though, and this one looks to be the same due to it being one day stated.

 

If I recall, on DoA, they had a huge second day meet-up for anyone who wanted to make the most of their time. I'm pretty sure they had that same meet posted here too?

There's another thread in the doll meetup area, might want to combine them.

 

If us DD parents are welcome, I think I'll look into going. Will it line up with one in Japan? Is it like the ones in Japan, with announcements and item releases?

Volks USA seems to be increasingly active in events, so maybe something special will happen there. I believe in the past there have been some USA exclusive events like the release of the very first SD16, Olivia Morgan, at Volks first Dolls Party in New York City. Pretty sure that was a Volks International event though.

 

I may try to attend this one. We have a major project go live at work in late August 2017, so it might be iffy. A Saturday and Sunday should be ok though, and I can take the train to LA from where I live.

This does look pretty awesome! As much as I'd like to go, my finances are going to be in flux for the next several months at least, and I'm not sure how they'll settle. (Yaaaay home-buying.) I'll be keeping tabs on this, though. . . so, we'll see.

Same here! I'm going to have to plan for this. I do have some family in So Cal so maybe I can use that as an excuse to go haha

Just 11 more months to go...

Umm I'll have to think about it. I should probably be free. I wonder if I'll have another cutie with me to bring by then. Hahaha!

Cool beans, thank you for the info! It looks like I need to seriously save for this trip because I've never attended an event like that and I would LOVE to go to the west coast and meet all the DD folks from out there. I'm putting this on the calendar and will do my best to make it.

I had to miss out on the store closing, the last LA Dollpa, AND the convention was cancelled. I'm going to this Dollpa. Its happening, I'm so going.

To help reduce cost, I'm willing to carpool with fellow PHX metro folks. I wonder if my wife is going to want to go, but then there's what do we do with the kiddos who are in school...

Or if you are a DoA user there are a lot of people who carpool down and generally are welcoming to others. :> Just would have to find the corresponding thread for that. They also do a lot of hotel room splits.
