I'm just finding out about this the other day! So excited to go again. I'm horrible with meet-ups and stuff and maybe this is another event that will bring me out of the house to meet with other doll folk. Super excited!

I was just thinking about this the other day - does Dolpa in the US have a dealer market or anything like the ones in Japan? It's such a huge part of Dolpa (it takes up most of the event space) that it feels weird to not have them. I haven't heard of any announcement or call for applications. Obviously the talent pool is somewhat smaller but I think there's still a decent amount of people who make and sell things for it to work even if on a small scale...

I guess I'm just curious what a Dolpa without any of that is even like - if it's just the official Volks stuff, making it 'Dolpa lite', or if Volks are going to add more things going on there to make up for it.

I'm really looking forward to hearing the reports about it.

I think the US Dolpa have been designed more like the SD Owners Appreciation Fair because first they don't have the dealer market, but they do offer same special limited doll like Williams Romantic Glance Ver.

I also just found out that I'm a Tea Party lottery winner! This is my first Dolpa too--I'm happy I'll get to experience this event in addition to the other ones being held throughout the convention.

I haven't heard anything either, so far it looks like it's only Volks official merch. I think there's a big meet for trades/sales sort of thing that goes on with attendees the day after, though? Like F-15alice said, it's self-organized.

If the 2015 Dolpa is anything to go by (Volks' self-reporting), Volks will bring a handful of dealer outfits with them to sell in the sumika shop. Sort of like how they have the small consignment section in each of their Japanese stores that sells dealer-made clothes and shoes. It won't be like JP Dolpa where dealers go in person and take up over half of the event floorspace.

 

LA Dolpa seems organized more like an SD Owners' Faire (like the Tokyo Bay Cruise) plus sumika shop.

Jadepixel and myself got into the tea party so we'll see everyone there come September Really excited to see what dealer items they will bring this time around. For those items I do hope they bring more reasonable priced items/sets. Last time a lot of the dealer items were $200 and over (at least the ones I remember seeing). I snagged a really nice keyhole sweater for $30 or $40 (can't remember), but everything else was too rich for my wallet

 

And I really hope that maybe they will bring a D'Coord Tan girl for sale. May not happen, but I can dream

I assumed they'd at least have a D'coord lottery with a few tan ones. I'm very curious about that.

Anyone know if you have to be an owner to get in? I've got some friends in the area who are mildly curious about this hobby and think it would help to see the dolls in person, so this would be a good chance.

I think except the tea party other are free entry

I'd love to go, but... Dragoncon has my heart- and my wallet since I booked a con hotel last year, the day after it ended.

What would be nice for me is if I actually have some money and am not struggling or dirt poor as usual

Especially sense there will be 200.00+ stuff there e.e

I was thinking about this myself, and was a little worried because I don't really think I have anything that fits the steampunk aesthetic (and no girls that would really look good in it, either). To anyone who's been to the Tea Party in the past, how big of a deal was adhering to the theme?

 

Maybe I'll just have to suck it up and make or buy something in time

10 D'Coords will be up for lottery during the event and 5 of them are Tan DDs! There's also a really good selection of 6 Limited girls as well

 

I'm excited for the dealer items. They have a dealer on the list that I would definitely like to grab items from as I've seen their work since I started collecting. And there's going to be games you can pay to play and win prizes

Wow, so much DD love at this one. Wish I was going, though probably best I don't, I'd want to put in for a few of the D'Coord girls. I kinda wish Volks USA would bring some of them to the USA store as lotteries every once in a while for those of us that can't get to Japan, or LA, can still have hope of owning one without paying an arm and a leg on the 2nd hand markets.

The D'Coords are very cute but there will be a lottery for an Arle and F-39 dollfie?!?! So jealous

If I go I'll be hoping to win Sasara Kusugawa. I love her outfit and wig, if only it wasn't so difficult finding them in the 2nd hand market.

 

But that DDH11! Urgh I want her so bad.

 

Hopefully I get to meet some of the LA area Dollfie owners. I am always super nervous around people hopefully someone can guide me around.
