They look really nice~ I hope these tan skin models will be on display at Dollpoint so those who visit can take pictures and share with the rest of us Really want to see how the shade looks from pictures posted by others. Now the real question will be how long will it be a Dollpoint/D'Coord exclusive before it becomes standard for the rest of us ? Crossing my fingers that it isn't years and years

I've been waiting for this thread since I saw the pictures of the tan girls in Volks News 70!

 

I'm absolutely in love! I hope they become a standard skin tone, I'd love to eventually get a tan DDP.

I'm at school so I was only able to quickly look at the info, but from what I understood there's a short-time lottery held in Akihabara (so only for those who are able to visit the store). Apparently no info on any further tan skin releases or a possibility for us overseas to get one of these... Read in a hurry though so I might be mistaken ^^;

I was already dreading they'd make this colour a lot more limited than they ought to. I just really hope it's not a one-off thing. Even if it stays as a Doll Point exclusive like heads 8-10, I just hope it stays. Or comes back from time to time.

Cos damn I still really want one but now I have a Len to deal with so that's no longer possible - so I really hope it is in future. Otherwise I'll just get smartdoll Twilight instead, cos at least she's always gonna be around. But tbh I'd really prefer that DDdy body in tan as the smartdoll is too thin for what I'm after even though I really like the new headsculpt Twilight has. If they do come out more regularly I hope they make hand parts for them.

 

I do like that Volks is at least attempting to 'reclaim' its turf by releasing a boy and tan skin but it's a little painful that they make them this limited. (Baby steps, I guess?) I hope they're really popular! They seem to be making a big deal of it anyway, which is a good sign. It's nice to see new pics too - the colour is a lot nicer in them. I thought they looked too pale in Volks News, but they look nice here.

 

After the 11th (the day people can get their lottery dolls if they won) they're announcing new D'Coords already though... I read in Volks News that they were going to do a DDH10 D'Coord but she probably wont be in tan. (I'm more interested in whether she's gonna have an MDD or DDP body...? Would be great if there was an opportunity to see that body before Yayoi/Iori are out)

Hopefully Akihabara is just to test the waters for tan skin popularity and they eventually do a wider release, I'd hate it if these were super limited.

....gaaaahhhh that new picture is seriously making my heart flutter for the tan DDH-09! They even put her in a bride-y type of white dress that my planned 09 girl wears on a regular basis. ;__;" I was hoping for a chance to possibly buy her in November when I visit if I could scrape together enough shopping funds to accommodate a fullset doll(which is pretty unlikely though tbh considering my other hobbies, but still... dreams!).

 

I really hope that this is just a start and that tan will become a standard skin tone soon enough. I don't mind waiting but it would be so much more reassuring knowing that it will definitely be available eventually..

 

(also, the new pic made me even more convinced that Volks tan would be /perfect/ for my guy over SmD tea.. a tan older male body from Volks sounds so improbable though so I'll try to not get my hopes up and just continue saving for Crimson.. or another of Danny's other upcoming guys)

HAHA yes dark normal...but I'll take it Not very tan at all unless next to light skin girls but hey..

However we now we have to contend with availability... and I need an 07 head.

I want a new body for Kanu. Hopefully they will release a tan mdd. I really think they will.

I'm pretty sure they made this skin tone for Hibiki, it looks about right. Maybe they'll use its popularity at Dollpoint to figure out if they should make standard parts. Or maybe it's just to do something more exciting than putting up standard parts for sale and hoping people will care.

I don't totally understand, are these limited editions now? Like when you get put in a lottery?

 

It's a huge pity they don't do these tones mainstream.

 

To call this a tann is a bit much. My Normal Skin girl looks practically dead so I can only imagine this one looks, somewhat alive, in real life lol

Yep. Volks is gauging interest for tan skin dolls. But they shouldn't limit it to Japan though. It really isn't a good indicator for the world at all.

Found some owner pics of the DDH06 one. It could just be this persons photos but damn that sure is light for 'tan skin'

I -think- she's darker than Kanu but its kinda hard to tell. I think smartdoll's tea colour is a lot nicer, though. I wish I could get that colour on a DD without dye.

Next to NS is how you can usually distinguish it's tan you can't even tell that has much color at all.

I think they're going for a tan color in the literal sense of a light skinned person who got a suntan... Personally I'd prefer a darker skin tone like Smartdoll has.

Looks are a little deceiving in that comparison photo, because the tan doll is wearing a pale wig and lighter colored clothes, and the normal skin girl is wearing a dark wig and dark clothes. Plus the normal girl is standing where there is less light. The tan girl does look darker to me, though.

I think the exposure between the two is a bit off too. The whites on the tan girl's shirt seem too bright to the point of almost being blown out, but her right stocking and Rin's shirt appear a bit grey. I have a feeling the lighting was very uneven.

@Foo: Hibikiiiiii. ; u ; I also think that the tan Volks has is just about right for her considering her skin color in different official media. Granted the OC I made that was inspired by her ended up being a darker tan than her instead. xD

And I'm not sure how helpful this is(since it uses Kanu instead of one of these new D'Coord girls), but this was a comparison I found again on twitter of the three vinyl tans we have now:

From left to right: Smart Doll Tea, Volks Tan, Obitsu/VMF50 suntan(with body blushing)

 

Definitely a lighter tan compared to smart doll. I personally like all three of them. If only the DD and obitsu options were as readily available as Danny's dolls. I really hope Volks makes tan standard. I still really want that DDH-09 head.
