People's much wished brown skin is coming...

I...uh...actually thought they always were there from the beginning and now I feel terrible for asking my friend to check there too before we managed to get one at Akiba ._. In my defense I could have sworn I saw someone on twitter talking about seeing one in Yokohama but maybe they were mistaken, or it was a one-off thing and Volks means it'll be more regular now?? I'm not really sure. They did make a blog post about it, and treat the tan girls as something super exciting, which is a good sign at least. They do mention that this is still the only way you can get one. They also mention that they're super popular! (Plus 'come to the store and see the charm of 'kasshoku' (tan skin) for yourself!' How about making them standard so more people can see that charm lol)

(Note that the pictures shown aren't the ones that will be in Yokohama from the 2nd of April, they are examples of the getups they've sold previous ones as.)

Kanu and light cocoa are distinctly different. I forgot to add in Sanjie. She's a little different too.

Its weird seeing that theres such a difference between Kanu and the tan skin, because when I was looking at pics of Kitsune's Kanu I was just thinking how her skin tone looked like Bri's and that it must be the same after all. But in that pic it looks weirdly orange-tinted, while the tan 06 looks oddly lighter. Neither look like the colour I'm used to seeing in photos of Kanu or my own tan girl, so I assume its the lighting, but I really wanna see them together in person.... Like I can tell there will obviously be a difference, but the colours in that pic look odd to me.

I actually like Kanu's golden tan to the new Volks "tan" but I am surprised at the color difference!

I'm hoping maybe they'll get a little braver and make the girls slightly darker .

Seems like the only way to tell they are tan is when people manipulate the color of the photos .

Thanks so much for the comparison picture, Mitsuki! It's really surprising how your Kanu's tan looks so different compared to the new D'Coord tan! I doubt it, but do think she might have yellowed since she was released? Kanu here reminds me of Obitsu's more golden suntan skin. A picture with Sanjie included would be perfect if possible. All the tan! *^*

 

The tan 06 really does just look slightly darker than normal there. She's still super cute though! If/When Volks makes tan standard they'll probably use the same skin color as these D'Coords right? I wonder if any future limited tan girls will have custom tan skin colors...

Hmm thanks so much Mitsuki!! I really appreciate you making a chart for us all. I second that if alter you get the time to make another photo if you could add sanjie that would be amazing! Just so everyone can see the differences.

 

That aside this is quite an amazing chart as I was wondering for some time now if the new cocoa skin was just the same as Kanu's or not. I've seen Kanu a few times in person and she is a very nice color. A little sad Volks cocoa is not as dark. But I still like it enough to have it.

Thanks Mitsuki! You putting the light cocoa 06 next to the tea Smart Doll saved me! The new tan Dollfie Dreams fit way better for what I'm looking for. I just hope she looks good in flaming red hair...

 

They have to come out with a DDH-07 and SS- or S- (or M- if I'm desperate) bust before I'll buy, though.

Do you guys see Volks making that head and one of those busts in the new skin tone? I'm afraid if anything they'll just create more full dolls (head+body) instead of individual parts.

I dont think you need to worry about cluttering up the thread - that's the kind of thing this thread needs I think. That second lot of pictures you posted looked more closer to the colours I expected re: my tan girl and the photos of Kanu I have seen.

 

@SeikoKitsune sadly we just have no idea what Volks plan to do. They're obviously doing the 6 and 9 as an experiment though. If we dont learn anything before USA Dolpa, someone might want to ask them there. I'm still ''expecting'' that they'll bring some tan D'Coords as raffle prizes - not that I can say for sure, obviously, I'd just be surprised if they didn't.

Sanjie's sunlight skin is probably my favorite~ I'm halfway through my own tan dye project, but I think that 'light cocoa' DD parts probably won't be a good match for my girl after all since I kinda went darker than expected.. welp. xD

Not sure if anyone noticed but the tan ddh09 made an appearance modelling new clothes in Volks News 73, which surprised me. A good sign?

What's also interesting to me is that she's on the DDdy body here when previously they'd only had the 9 on the DD L bust and the 6 on the DDdy.

But geez....why does she never look as tan in Volks photos as she does IRL??

I was flipping through scans last night and got excited when I saw that. Mostly because I recognized her! She has the fiance stamp of approval even though he doesn't get why tan skin is special for Volks. Oh well, at least he is supper supportive of the hobby.

Tan DDH7 D'coords debut at Dolpa! They mention the popularity of the tan colour here.

I'm so excited to finally see tan 07! I've been waiting for so long!! Now I just need a smaller bust in tan....and you know... to actually get ahold of one of these 07's

Not only that but three of the D'Coords for Dolpa are tan. very good news I think. C'mon Volks...gimme some option hands and a seamless torso...

I'll be sure to write it in the feedback/survey part of the Dolpa guidebook. Funnily enough all I wrote last year was 'I would love to see another male DD (the same size as a DD, taller than DDS Boy Type)'' and now we've got Kirito, so even though it is obviously not my doing it certainly can't hurt...

This is really promising... Baby steps for Volks I guess. I wonder what will be next.. maybe 01?? Those seem to be the most 'popular' of the standard head sculpts. Tan DDS and MDD bodies and smaller boob sizes would be nice too, as are option hands.

Took them long enough. Now they gotta stop teasing us and actually make them readily available to buy on the websites, besides at Dolpa events or Doll Point stores. Pipe dream I know.

I saw the tan DDs at Dolpa, and my immediate reaction was 'holy cow that's definitely dark skin.' I didn't try taking photos of it because I didn't want to put up a futile fight against the spotlights that were on them, but my impression was that it definitely looked like a dark skin DD, rather than 'normal tan.' Even if it is lighter than other 'tan' skin tones (there was nothing to compare it to other than normal skin on display), the hue is different enough to make it feel like dark skin.

I had the same reaction first seeing one IRL as well. It's just hard to capture in photos and volks official ones look more like 'normal DD in the shade' to me :/

I get a lot of people kind of going meh because it's not smart doll dark, but I love it still and can't wait to have at least two brown girls of my own someday! (and a guy if I'm lucky). I really want to see one in person already, so I'm hoping that volks might show up with one at the LA dollpa.

 

It must be nice to have such a variety in skin tone colors earlynon in your collection Torino! I'm pining for something a lil different for my next girl already due to having two ns now hahaha.
