etoile Posted October 7, 2016 Hello, everyone! I'm never quite sure what to say in these introductions.... But, I suppose here it goes! I'm relatively new to dollfie and have lots of questions about them! However, newness aside, I do have a lovely mdd with a modded ddh-01 head that I impulse purchased after finding out about these lovely dolls. She is absolutely lovely and I can't wait to start learning more! I'm very lucky to have a few friends who collect all sorts of dolls who helped with this. I enjoy sewing and crafting, so I am very excited to start making things for her. I'm not sure if this is normal but I have set up a cute little space for her in my work station and it is the only place that I have set up as I recently moved. As for my 'real life', I am lucky enough to work in a book store. Please feel free to message me, if you ever want someone to talk literature with! Aside from that.... I'm really not sure what to say! I look forward to meeting everyone!
katnaper Posted October 7, 2016 Hello etoile and welcome to the forums! There is a lot of information on the site, just head on over to the Dollfie Dreams Questions and Answers area and do a search for tutorials or just ask a question if you can't find the info you are looking for. Also, we'd love to see photos of your little cutie so as soon as you are able, please do post photos of her and tell us about her. As for setting up a place by your workstation, that's perfectly normal. We all want to be able to see these lovelies so the nearer they are the better. I had a few of mine on my desk for the longest time and only moved them into their own space after we finished my basement office so yeah, it's all good. And working in a bookstore is awesome! I love books and there are quite a number of people here in the forums into books as well. I think there is a thread in the Off topic Section on "What book are you reading now?" that's full of reading recommendations from other forum members. Sadly, I have only been back a short time after going into lurking mode for the longest time so I haven't updated that thread with my latest reads. But still, let us know what you recommend. I look forward to seeing more of you and your girl around the forum. We have our own BLOG. Please visit us at the House of Nyan by clicking this link or our sig above. See you there. Or, come see what Nyanko-sensei is up to at the Katnaper's Den
etoile Posted October 8, 2016 Yeah, I can't wait to start posting pictures of her on here. I think I spent most of the night looking through all the old photo stories and pictures on here. It's nice to see everyone having so much fun with their lovely girls! I hadn't seen the post with book recommendations, yet. I think that is going to have to be my next target! Thank you so much for the warm welcome! I look forward to seeing more of you and to seeing your girls and their basement space!
Winnie Posted October 11, 2016 Welcome Étoile, hope you enjoy your time here. Don't mind asking question, we'll all be happy to help you. Congratulations on your lovely DDH-01, look forward to see her ^^ I'd love to talk literature with you, feel free to message me too ^^ (Even tho I mostly know about french literature lol)
etoile Posted October 12, 2016 Thank you so much, Winnie! I'd love to talk French literature with you, anytime! ... unfortunately, I'm afraid all I can really contribute are the classics. Trading suggestions are always welcome, though!
SylvanJade Posted October 16, 2016 Hi etoile! Welcome! I'm new too, but I think you will find everyone really friendly and willing to help here. This place is full of a lot of good folks. I used to work in a bookstore too while I was in college. That was one of my favorite jobs, although it was hard because I kept spending all my money.... Anyway, I hope you have a really good time here and can learn a lot. I'm trying to make things for my dollfie too, so maybe we can share some ideas back and forth! etoile Posted October 16, 2016 Haha, that is the hardest part of my day; Fighting the urge to buy every book I want! I have to talk myself out of it every time I work. "No, put the book down. You have six at home you haven't read yet. Just put it down, and walk away....." Yes, we definitely should exchange ideas! I'm in the middle of making a bubble skirt out of this dark gold speckled chiffon I had. I'm having to break out the serger before I try and sew the pieces together. But, I would love to have someone to post ideas back and forth with. And I stand by what I said earlier, you should definitely put up a tutorial!
SylvanJade Posted October 18, 2016 Yup, that was me working at a bookstore. It didn't help that I got to see ALL the sales ALL the time! Terrible, terrible time lol. Ooh, can you take pictures of your bubble skirt while you make it? I haven't tried making one yet, but I think they look really cute!
etoile Posted October 18, 2016 I have been taking pictures as I make it, though I keep forgetting to take pictures as I go >.< They are super easy to make, so far! I'm sure it would got a lot faster if I had my sewing machine unpacked but.... Maybe in time to make the shirt lol I'll clean it up and post a tutorial, soon
SylvanJade Posted October 21, 2016 Awesome, I would love to see your pics! What kind of shirt do you plan to make? I've made 2 so far, but they're quite "boxy". I think I need to cut some curves into them...
etoile Posted October 21, 2016 I am thinking of making a sweater and just a plain v-neck shirt. I have made some cute cowl necked sweaters before, but I need to sort of fiddle with the size to get from human to mdd.... Ugh, I need to just start drafting patterns and stop talking about my plans, tbh XD
SylvanJade Posted October 21, 2016 I've made 2 plain v neck shirts with long sleeves, and I have only hemmed the 2nd one. I really do want to make a sweater, so if you figure it out I'd love to hear your tips. My plan was to get a little bit better at shirts before attempting a sweater. My shirt fabric is stretchy and therefore easy to work with if I get measurements wrong. Sweater fabric though? I don't think it's that stretchy. I also want to make some Christmas cloaks this year, so wish me luck on that. If it goes well I'll post a tutorial. Do you have a picture of the cowl neck sweater you made? I'm curious to see!
