baldylox Posted October 15, 2016 Well, I went and adopted yet another girl. But this time I actually got a full Obitsu girl.... complete with Obitsu body and head! I don't have ANY Obitsu heads in my family but my GF has one and I've always liked her. So when I saw this one for sale, she kinda spoke to me and I had to get her. She was on sale on a Facebook group and after talking to her owner for a while, we settled on what I think is an absolute bargain of a price. She is a Gretchen head on an original Obitsu ball jointed 60cm body. My GF had one of these bodies on her custom 04 head girl Emiko for quite a while and while it worked for her for a bit, she really didn't like the shape and posability of the Obitsu body. It does still feel a bit "chunky" sometimes and the posing is a bit limited with certain stances but overall, the body isn't really THAT bad. We sold that body in order to fund getting a DD3 body for Emiko and I've wanted to replace it for a while now...... just to have an example of one in the collection, kind of like the DD1 body I keep that came with my Rei Ayanami. Anyway, this body came with the large size bust. I hear it's been discontinued and I must say I've never seen this bust before. I do like it over the one Emiko had tho..... go big boobies! Here's a shot of her out of the box as she came to me: New Obitsu girl by Billy Bennett, on Flickr I really had NO idea who she was going to be or what she was going to look like so I just started putting wigs on her to see what I liked. These next photos are of wigs I thought looked the best on her. Trying out wigs by Billy Bennett, on Flickr Twintails by Billy Bennett, on Flickr Wavy brown by Billy Bennett, on Flickr After some debate with myself over what I was wanting, I decided on that first wig with the mixed green and blue colors. It's a long wig that can be either worn long and straight or put into a braid or ponytail so it gives me some room to experiment and change her style if I want. Once I chose the wig, I had to figure out some clothes. She told me she liked casual styles so I rummaged thru a bunch of things and came up with this: I think we're going with this for now by Billy Bennett, on Flickr I think it worked out quite nicely! I still don't have a name for her tho, nothing has jumped out at me and she hasn't told me yet. I was told that her faceup is the standard default one and while it's nice enuff, it doesn't fit with the main style my DD girls have so she'll be getting a new faceup at the Halloween meet on Nov 5th. I already told Eblktty ( who is doing her face ) that I really love the shape of her lips and to keep that intact as much as possible. As for everything else, she'll have free reign to make her fit into my DD family and look her best. I'm pretty excited about this girl even tho she is VASTLY different from the rest of my DD family. There's just something about rescue girls that makes me smile and feel good. Billy I gave up counting the girls I own, they keep multiplying and won't stop. baldylox Posted October 15, 2016 Oh wow shes amazing i didnt even know that bust size was made by obitsu Thank you! I had no idea either until I got her. I don't recall ever seeing one like this on Junky Spot or the Parabox sites when I was buying parts before..... I guess it's been discontinued for a while? Either way I like it on her and she'll be keeping it. Billy I gave up counting the girls I own, they keep multiplying and won't stop.

FreelancerAlphaOneDashOne Posted October 15, 2016 Geez, better be careful not to lose an eye to those things, they're dangerous. I don't see very much of the Obitsu 60cm bodies, I get the feeling those hip/thigh joints might take some getting used to though. Coming from the 50cm camp they are a very unusual design. What are they like to pose? Can she get her legs up behind her head? I've loved the photos and your girl ^^ Thanks so much! I'm glad you like my new girl. Geez, better be careful not to lose an eye to those things, they're dangerous. Hee hee, indeed. They do look a bit pointy but that's ok, makes dialing a phone easier for her. What are they like to pose? Can she get her legs up behind her head? The overall look and style of the body isn't exactly what I prefer but I kind of like it because it shows where early vinyl dolls started out and how much they've progressed over the years. There's certain outfits that won't look great on her due to how the joints look in places but I think she's still pretty cool looking. As for posing, they hold poses very well and are a lot more flexible than the DD bodies of the same age. The joints can look a bit odd at certain angles tho, that takes some getting used to. You can also see screws holding parts together from the back but that doesn't bother me much. And I don't think her legs will go up behind her head...... altho she might try if I offer her enuff cookies. Billy I gave up counting the girls I own, they keep multiplying and won't stop. They kind of do look like the Brats girls, altho not as huge and out of proportion since she's way bigger. Since I also collect a few MH girls, maybe that's why I like this new girls looks so much. elianti Posted October 16, 2016 Ooh, nice! I had an Obitsu large bust on my 60cm for a while but the gap between the bust and the obi bjd abdomen was too much for me so I put a DDdy bust on her, which surprisingly fit much better lol xD I've been considering getting a Gretel as well so one of my girls can have a more realistic look. I'm really interested in seeing what EblKtty will do with her faceup to make her mesh better with the rest of your girls! Maybe a sort of inbetween anime/real look like Rise? I'm not 100% sure how she will turn out but I trust Ebl 110% with my girls so I know she'll be gorgeous no matter what. I plan to take some close ups of her before and after so I can share how her change went. So once it's done, I'll be sure to post here about it so you can see. I think a mix of anime and realistic can be done well as seen on Rise and Alna so I have high hopes for this girl. Billy I gave up counting the girls I own, they keep multiplying and won't stop. Mysha Posted October 16, 2016 Can she get her legs up behind her head? Looks like a challange my Isabelle couldn't leave untaken! Is this what you wanted? K-2 Posted October 17, 2016 That's actually the Parabox custom version of the 60cm large bust (still manufactured by Obitsu). The original Obitsu version was similar but a bit, ah clunky. The Parabox version smoothed out the uncomfortable parts of the Obitsu version and came with blushed nipples. The design for that bust is almost 10 years old. Since Obitsu moved on to the 50cm body and all its custom versions (Azone's Azo2, the VMF50 and AP girls), there really hasn't been much new for the 60cm body. As elianti pointed out, DD busts will fit the 60cm body. The Obitsu bust vinyls are wider at the shoulders than the DD vinyls so for the best fit the arm receptor tubes for the Obitsu skeleton part need to be shortened slightly. The DD abdomens will fit the 60cm also, without modification.
Waffles Posted October 18, 2016 Congrats! If you don't mind me asking, could you possibly do a comparison between dollfie dream and smartdoll? I would also like to see how she looks on a smart doll body. Thanks. I'm also really excited to see how she'll turn out, I love the gretel mold.
FreelancerAlphaOneDashOne Posted October 18, 2016 Looks like a challange my Isabelle couldn't leave untaken! Is this what you wanted? [...] Wow that's amazing! I am legitimately impressed that a doll could bend far enough to do that given the restrictions of the skins relative inflexibility. I don't know if my 50cm girls could do it but I'd be rather hesitant to try... I don't know if my 50cm girls could do it but I'd be rather hesitant to try... It was pretty easy to do. There is a ball in the hip joint, so it was all about turning the leg around the ball and also rotate the ball itself. It could took advantage of her soft abdomen, but did not require any stress on the skin. - Kizuna [smart Doll] - Isabelle [saber Extra + Obitsu60] - Maya [DDS DDH-06] - Angelica [DD Sakuya] - Kitty [MDD Mariko] - Moonlight [smart Doll] - Emily [DD Miku] - https://annasangels.capsel.org/

I've already done a comparison between the Smartdoll and first version of the DDdy body and the DD3 body, see here: viewtopic.php?f=51&t=10638 As for putting her head on a Smartdoll body, the hole in her head is WAY too big for the small peg on the SD body. It's even larger than the DD head holes. I might be able to rig something up with eye putty or something but I won't have any time to do anything until at least next week. I'll try to remember it! Thanks for the photo of the different bodies and busts K-2 ! I probably won't be swapping out her bust anytime soon but it's nice to know what else will fit her. Misheru Posted November 2, 2016 Oh Billy, I can't wait to tell my husband that you have added an Obitsu 60 to your dolly family...and a Gretel to boot! That is his favorite doll of all time and was the very first 22 inch sized vinyl that he got. About 6 1/2 years ago he and I celebrated our tenth anniversary and for gfts we exchanged big dolls. We had collected smaller dolls before this but as fans of anime and VGs we had seen Dollfie Dreams online and loved the look of them. However, he liked the more realistic faces of Obitsu at the time and he actually preferred their bodies, mainly because they could be fixed with readily available replacement parts. I as a DD girl, liking the anime faces. Well, it came about that I got Miu Amaha on lottery and while waiting he got me a custom head who turned out to be Misheru. I got him a Gretel 60cm and I did the faceup myself. I can do realistic styles, but the anime look just alludes me. I guess my wee bit o' creativity only goes so far. I did a practice run on a Sheba head and he liked that one too, so she got a body later on. But first came...MARIKO! I tease him all the time that he is by Mariko like you are by Manami. Together we have over 110 girls, yet Mariko is sleeping on his bedside table right now. She gets the very best of everything that is bought for our girls. A spoiled princess. But worth it, of course. He has a lot of Obitsu girls and a number of different head sculpts. But he loves the Gretel head the best. I think he has 9 or 10 Gretels, including a Gretel 47 who is so cute. I will try to round up some photos if I can. Anyway, I can't wait to see her new faceup and congrats on your new lady. Congrats on getting that rare Parabox large bust as well. It is such a pity that they stopped making them. And as far as names go, Mariko says that Mariko makes a rather fine choice in her opinion. At least that is what her papa tells her. That is his favorite doll of all time and was the very first 22 inch sized vinyl that he got. About 6 1/2 years ago he and I celebrated our tenth anniversary and for gfts we exchanged big dolls. Oh wow, that's so cool! I've really never paid much attention to the Obitsu girls because I got into the hobby with DDs. But since I've been in the hobby a while now, I've seen more of these pop up in pics online and I thought it would be cool to own one myself. That's awesome about you two gifting dolls. I gave my sister her first DD for Xmas a while back and I've given lots of clothing out to my GF as presents. So having family and friends in the hobby certainly makes things more fun. I'm the same as you then as I prefer the anime style of the DD and Smartdolls over the more realistic looks of most VMF and resins. There are a few exceptions of course but overall, DDs are where it's at for me. You have a good point about availability of repair parts for the Obitsu bodies. I wish Volks was the same way with DD parts. I tease him all the time that he is by Mariko like you are by Manami. Together we have over 110 girls, yet Mariko is sleeping on his bedside table right now. She gets the very best of everything that is bought for our girls. A spoiled princess. But worth it, of course. Ha ha ha! That's me! Even tho I have WAY less than you guys do, I still have a large doll family and I sometimes feel I don't give some of them the attention they deserve. But Manami *is* my first and she *is* my Princess so it makes sense that I spoil that girl rotten. Good to know I'm not the only one who does that! He has a lot of Obitsu girls and a number of different head sculpts. But he loves the Gretel head the best. I think he has 9 or 10 Gretels, including a Gretel 47 who is so cute. I will try to round up some photos if I can. I would LOVE to see pics of his girls! Please post them here if you find some! Anyway, I can't wait to see her new faceup and congrats on your new lady. Congrats on getting that rare Parabox large bust as well. It is such a pity that they stopped making them. Me either! She gets done this Saturday so I'm super excited about it. I'll take lots of before and after shots of her to share here so don't worry, you'll see how she turns out! And you know me, I do love the large busted girls. Some of my girls don't work with large boobs so they're mediums..... but at least 2/3 of my group are L-bust or more. And as far as names go, Mariko says that Mariko makes a rather fine choice in her opinion. At least that is what her papa tells her. Lol Ha ha! Good choice Mariko, it IS a good name for a cute girl. But she finally told me her name last week...... she will now be called Sonya! I was changing her clothes and it just sort of popped into my head. I said it out loud a few times and it seems to click so we're happy about it. Sorry Mariko! Take care Billy. Pass on dolly greeting from our vinyl family to yours! Thank you for all the compliments and info, I appreciate it! We all say hello to all of you guys and hope there's enuff cookies for everyone there! I started out saying i just wanted a smart doll... sounds like we have the same problem lol Yes we do! It seems that no matter what I do, more and more girls find their way to my place. Not that I have a huge issue with that or anything. I'm a total sucker for lost dollies trying to find a good home. Sonya just happened to pop up at the right time and with an incredibly low price so there was no way I could ignore her. The wait for her to come back is going to kill me tho..... I hate waiting!
