SisterKyoya Posted October 27, 2016 It was my Mom's 69th birthday and she decided that she wanted to go to a small hobby farm/fruit stand place that's about 45 min. from where we live. Since the weather is getting cooler and I'm able to cover up I was able to go without having my allergies flare up. Autumn is my favorite season by far so I nearly jumped at the chance at a daytime outing after being restricted to the house since early spring. Of course with our ever expanding DD family, the kiddos would not have been happy to stay at home nor would I have been happy to go without them. This story just makes me unbelievably happy because I feel like for the first time I get to show Rainie 'in her element'. I always talk about how she spends 95% of her time running around outside, but now you can actually see it. The Little Prince Tama may have been my first DD/first boy, but Rainie nearly snagged that first DD spot. It has been a long time since I remembered that she was my first girl (even if Naiomi was finished first) and it still fills my heart to overflowing that both of the first kiddos got a field trip together, something that should not have taken so long to do. Rainie: "Are we there yet?" Rainie: "Are we there yet?" Rainie: "Are we there yet???" Rainie: "My intel informed me that there should be candy over there!" Mommy: "What intel? You didn't even know we were coming until last night!" Rainie: "Grammy Pammy told me. We need to case the perimeter and put our plan into action!" Tama: "Mommy I found a baby leaf! It's just my size. It's really yellow." Mommy: "Bright as a banana." *giggle* Tama: *stuffs it into his pocket* Rainie: "Alright Agent Shorty McPicklePants, our objective is right over there. You see those kids? Spies! Double agents! And keep a sharp eye out for Team Rocket. I know they are here somewhere! They like large crowds of kids and stealing things!" Tama: *mumbles* "I don't like being called Shorty McPicklePants... It's not cute." Rainie: "What is this 'Fun Farm' thing? Is it a cover? I thought Grammy Pammy said it was called Smallwoods? Who's funding it? What is their connection to the Hello Kitty syndicate? Most of all, where is the candy?!? These questions need answers!" Mommy: "Rainie, the point was just to come have some fun and see the nice fall colors." Tama: "They have cute animals on farms. Like horses and sheep. Just like at Grammy Peggy's house." Rainie: "Sheep? Sheep don't need candy! They are like living balls of cotton candy! All poofy and pink, singing and floating." Mommy: "Sheep are generally a lot dirtier than you'd imagine, but still cute. And I think you are confusing normal sheep with a Mareep crossed with a Jigglypuff." Tama: "Whimsicott are kinda like that. I think they are funny and you can snuggle them." Rainie: "Alright, break's over. Let's go interrogate one of the locals!" Rainie: "Alright, tell me where the candy is and I'll go easy on ya!" Rainie: "Not talking eh? The boys down at the precinct are good at making a hayseed like yourself talk. You wouldn't want that would you? They might even throw the book at you! Or a whole stack of books!" Mommy: "Rainie, have you been watching old detective movies again? You never cease to amaze me. I have yet to decide if that is a good thing or not." Tama: "I don't really want candy. Do you think they would have gingerbread boys?" Rainie: "Hey Mom! I found my new base camp! Could you go home and grab me some supplies and come back for me in a week?" Tama: "Kaya said she lived in a tepee before she lived with us." Rainie: "Don't forget the marshmallows! No spy retreat is complete without them! And a toaster oven! We have an extension chord to reach, right?" Tama: *quietly moans* Mommy: "Rainie it's fine if you want to go camping in our backyard, but I'm not going to let you decide on your own that you live by yourself for a week. Besides, you have school on Monday." Rainie: "I found a corn maize. Get it? Corn m-a-i-z-e?" *cracks up* Tama: *facepalm* Mommy: "Wow Rainie, that was bad." Rainie: "I thought it was a-maize-ing!" *laughs* Tama: "That wasn't funny..." Mommy: "Well, there is no denying that you are related to Ralph. As if there was any doubt." Tama: "Mommy look at the cute chickens!" Mommy: "They might be the same height as you Tama." Rainie: "CHICKENS? HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!" Mommy: "What in the world is so funny about chickens?" Rainie: "You know, chickens!" *starts cackling loudly and uncontrolabily* Tama: "Mommy, is that metal thing where the chickens make poultry seasoning?" Mommy: "What? No. That's where their food is so it doesn't get stomped into the ground." Tama: "Oh. Ralph said they called it poultry seasoning because chickens make it. I wanted to see where they worked." Mommy: *facepalm* Rainie: *still laughing loudly* "...and then the chicken laid the egg! HAHAHAHAHA! Get it? It LAID the egg!" Rainie: "That's a free range chicken if I ever saw one! Home, home on the range, where the chickens talk on the telephone wire! Was that before or after they laid the nugget! HAHAHAHA!" Tama: "Um, Mommy is that chicken supposed to be out here?" Mommy: "I'm not sure..." Rainie: "All you need is some small saddles to ride them and then... poultry posse! BAHAHAHAHA!" Tama: "Can I go hug the chicken?" Mommy: "Rainie, are you sure you haven't been loading up on sugar when I wasn't looking?" Rainie: *continues cackling and laughing as one of the chickens starts clucking just as loudly* Rainie: "BAHAHAHAHAHAHA! HAHAHAHA!" *Rainie's laughing and the chicken's clucking not only matched in volume and pitch, it also matched in pacing* Mommy: *mumbles* "Okay, now that's more than a little creepy..." Rainie: "Alright, now here's the problem. See this bucket? It's empty. We need to fill it. An army can't march without rations and I'm getting hungry." Tama: "Why do they have a stage here? It doesn't look like anyone uses it. I bet Naiomi would like it. It looks pretty all covered in leaves." Mommy: *stands talking with her sisters and niece* Rainie: "What kind of trick-or-treating is this? Reserves are low and that makes morale low. I want candy. It has lots of energy. Yuriko always eats the watered down kind, you know in cookies and cake and stuff. What I need is high grade pure sugar. You know, CANDY! And there is a severe lack of it filling this pumpkin." Tama: "I found another cute little leaf we could put in there." Rainie: "Roughage? I get plenty of that when Mom makes us eat porridge, like some deprived bears or something. Yuck." Tama: "I like oatmeal. Especially when she puts carrots and raisins in it. Autumn likes it too. I wonder if she would like it with pumpkin in it." *stuffs the leaf in his pocket* Rainie: "Alright agent Shorty, drive on! We have candy to commandeer! It's over this way!" Tama: "Mommy look! This little tractor almost fits me! I think they forgot to lower the handles." Mommy: *giggles* "You could try standing on the seat..." Tama: "It's a little goat! I bet Ringo would like to see him." Mommy: "Why would Ringo want to see a miniature goat?" Tama: "Because she told me a story about three goat brothers that liked dancing over bridges." Rainie: *off in the distance* "Not by the hair of my chinny-chin-chin! Unless you are some hag with green skin and a crooked nose. Naiomi has a pointed hat. Will she have chin hairs when she's old??" Rainie: "You smell worse than my brother Ralph's shoes!" Rainie: "Mom! Hey MOM! It's a psyduck!" Mommy: "That's a goose Rainie..." Tama: "Mommy! MOMMY LOOK! It's a baby bunny!!! EEEEEEEEEEEE!" *so excited to see a real baby bunny that he just makes elated and adorable squeaking noises* Tama: "Mommy can you take another picture of me with the cute bunny?" Mommy: "Ah, Tama the bunny hopped off. Tama... Tama, behind you...!" Tama: "Is the bunny behind me?" Mommy: "Ahhh!" *quickly grabs the little boy's arm and yanks him out of the way just in the nick of time* Rainie: "Hey! I recognize you Hello Cowy! You may be missing your bow but I still recognize you! Next time you try to kidnap my brother and drag him back to HK headquarters, you will regret it!" Tama: "Mommy make sure the bunny is in the picture! Make sure to get his cure side even though any side of a baby bunny is a cute side especially when they let you hold them and pet their really soft fur like Wiffel's BunBun has but he's gray and not white with cute spots-" *the little boy is so excited that for the fist time in his life that he can't stop talking* Mommy: *CLICK* Tama: "Just one more selfie with Hopscotch? I've never had a collection of baby bunny selfies." Mommy: "Hopscotch?" Tama: "Yeah. He told me that's what his name was and he's a boy because all baby bunnies are boys and cute and I wish I could take him home with me but then he would miss his family and if I had a baby bunny I wouldn't want him to be sad because then he might not eat carrots that me and Ellie could grow in the garden and maybe Dolly could teach him tricks like he did with Skeletor...." Rainie: "Onward trusty steed! Candy awaits! Driver, take me to the land of sugar filled dreams!" Tama: "Mommy, do you think Hopscotch would like it if I sent him a postcard?" Mommy: *smirks* "Maybe you can color him a picture and we will send the photo to his mommy and daddy." Rainie: "Hey Mom! Next time we come we should have Ringo take a pic here!" Mommy: *mumbles* "I bet she would be thrilled..." Rainie: "It's a chicken! A GIANT chicken!!! BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!" Tama: "Mommy is this the statue that Auntie E said we have to take a pic in front of whenever we visit here?" Mommy: "Yup. The very same. And Rainie, you may be banned from watching Animaniacs for a while..." Rainie: "It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Mom! Tonight the Great Pumpkin will rise out of the pumpkin patch. He flies through the air and brings toys to all the children of the world. We get toys, right?" Tama: "This is the littlest pumpkin I've ever seen!" Mommy: "Alright you two, how about you climb out of there and head back to the car with Auntie E and I'll go buy you a little bit of candy." Rainie: "CANDY! CANDYCANDYCANDY!!!" ~Sister Kyoya Forum Blog: Badger Pocket Tales (Family story from the beginning) | { Old Family story reboot: Start Here! } Follow me on Twitter, Flickr & Instagram
Monty Posted October 27, 2016 I love Tama's outfit in this! I dont think I've seen it before but its such a cute combination that really suits him Those colours are really pretty. I'd like to be able to get out and see autumn colours too but unfortunately Kyushu's been stupidly hot for too long and I think this area doesnt really get cold enough in autumn for the leaves to change colour properly, they just stay green till autumn is nearly over and if you blink you miss them changing colour before the trees are suddenly bare. That farm looks like a real fun place though. I hope they didnt get too dirty; that's my main fear with taking mine outside. *twitter*instagram*art*
Ie-Aster Posted October 27, 2016 Roughage? I get plenty of that when Mom makes us eat porridge, like some deprived bears or something. "Like some deprived bears" is my new favorite quote xD Rainie's frustration with porridge deeply reminds me of my own when I was a kid, except I was less witty about it I also enjoy her imaginative streak in this story. Though it seems like somebody might have given her some espresso towards the end xD At home: Mei (DDP Lucy custom), Aku (DDB Takane custom) En route: L. sinclair Posted October 27, 2016 I love this. Rainie is such a loud, bossy, tom boy. I love her hair, it fits her so well. They have a couple farms like that here, but they are always so full of people so I'd be afraid to have my girl out like that. Maybe someday I'll be brave enough to take her out in public. katnaper Posted October 29, 2016 Sensei: "Omigosh! Did Tamayuki just get so much cuter?! I know he's cute but he's grown even cuter, I could just hug him and never let him go. *squee!*- " Kaylus: *facepalm* He drags a senseless Nyanko-sensei away from the computer and hands him off to Tomoe who is shaking is head in exasperation. Kaylus: Here, you go Doc. Take care of the boss while I wipe away all the blood..." *shakes head and mutters* I hope Tama-kun didn't see that. Poor kid will be traumatized." After the area around the laptop is cleaned and he had checked in on the giant cat to see if she was okay... Kaylus: Hi Tama-kun! I hope Sensei didn't scare you, you were just too cute for her to handle. I guess, I can't blame her though as you are after all my Lil' Bro and of course you're gonna be cute. However, you seem to have gotten cuter like she mentioned. Is it because you're really happy you got to go out to with your Mom and Rainie? You all seemed to be enjoying yourself so that's good. I really like all your photos, especially the last one and the one with Hopscotch. I really like the color of your toque and your outfit. Oh, if you don't mind, please tell your Mom she needs to take more photos of you and of Dolly too. We all miss seeing you. Yuuto and Millie send their love! We have our own BLOG. Please visit us at the House of Nyan by clicking this link or our sig above. See you there. Or, come see what Nyanko-sensei is up to at the Katnaper's Den
elianti Posted October 29, 2016 Oh wow, this was really cute! It's great seeing Rainie and Tama enjoying the great outdoors. That one shot with the goat right behind Tama had me worried for a second! At least he got to take several pictures with Hopscotch. It's fun seeing how both Tama and Rainie show their excitement during this trip in their own way. I must say I'm a bit jealous of the beautiful fall foliage you have in your area though! I've lived on a tropical island my whole life so I haven't experienced it personally yet. Soon...
