Lore Posted October 30, 2016 (edited) I've just returned from my first trip to Japan and of course I had to stop by Danny's Tokyo store and build my own doll. I chose tea-skin Chitose with the medium bust, default wig, and green eyes! I absolutely adore her and I hope you enjoy the pictures. Eiko82 Posted October 30, 2016 Congrads on your girl!! Was it difficult to put her together? The workshops sound like such a cool experience. Living at my place: Rise (DD Rise Kujikawa), Chie (Smart Doll Mirai) and Aisha (Smart Doll Kurenai)
Lore Posted October 31, 2016 Congrads on your girl!! Was it difficult to put her together? The workshops sound like such a cool experience. Thank you!!! ^_^ It took me a good hour to assemble her, but it was only because the vinyl feet didn't want to go on. They are so difficult to slip over the plastic foot pieces! Danny must've felt sorry for my husband and I struggling with them so he sent one of his employees to help us. Since I'm not used to excessive humidity and it was a lovely 70 degrees in the city I was sweating bullets and constantly wiping my brow like I had run 10 miles trying to get those dang feet on. LOL! Other than that I highly recommend watching Danny's video on how to put his dolls together. I watched it twice and remembered what to do so if I can do it anyone can, because my memory is pretty bad. My family walked into his store and asked for the workshop and suddenly Danny showed up at the door to greet us and help us out personally to show where everything was and what choices we had. I took a photo of us together to commemorate the experience. I forgot to ask him to sign my bag, but oh well. Danny is so welcoming and nice to speak with! He doesn't act posh or "too important" to work with his customers directly and I truly appreciate that. It was an amazing experience that I'll never forget. Monty Posted October 31, 2016 I can confirm! I was pleasantly surprised when I first met him in person because I knew how busy he was at the time and didnt want to hold him up too long but he didnt seem to mind at all. If he did mind, he sure did a good job of hiding it! Then there's the fact that he remembered me not wanting to risk ruining one of the wigs by cutting it so letting me have the one that the staff already cut ...that's still seriously awesome to me, and I really owe it to him to be able to have Kaito's hair and eyes so perfect. I really like the look of your Chitose, by the way! I was tempted to do the workshop myself for my bday this year but getting both Rin and Len has rendered that impossible budgetwise. I'm still interested in doing it eventually...maybe when Twilight is added. *twitter*instagram*art*
Lore Posted October 31, 2016 Agreed with both of you! Danny had impressed me already, but meeting him in person definitely confirmed what I believed and heard about him. Very nice and accommodating! Can't wait to purchase more dolls from him in the future, especially Spike Spiegal. I highly recommend the workshop to anyone able to visit his store. It helped me bond with my new doll even more because it was an extra special situation to be in for myself and my family. She's basically become the best souvenier I ever got and there are a lot of memories already attached to her so far. Maybe one day I can return to his store to build another doll again. Here's hoping! At Home: DD Snow Miku, DD Luka, DDS Makoto, DD Airy, DDS KizunaAI
