Rin - Shelter the Animation

Hello,

So a few weeks ago, I watched Porter Robinson's short film/music video for his song shelter and I really fell in love with the film. So, I decided I would try to make a dollfie dream based on the main character, Rin.

 

I'm not sure what head I want to go with, so any suggestions for that would be greatly appreciated. I don't want her to have a smiley facial expression, but I don't want her to look mad either. It's pretty hard to see, but I really like her facial expression in the promo picture for the video. But really the only thing I have in mind for the face is I think she would look cute with a small mouth. Kind of weird, but whatever. I don't really care about the skin color.

 

For body, I think either DDS or DD with S bust would be best. I think her outfit would be pretty easy for me to make.

 

Eyes, maybe volks type M are really pretty, and volks type P could work as well. But, I haven't done much research on eyes so suggestions on those would also be greatly appreciated.

 

Wig - I found a wig on eBay that seems to be the right color But I'm still looking because I'm not sure about the quality of eBay wigs.

 

But anyways, I really want to do Rin's character justice, so I would love any feedback or suggestions. Thank you guys

Ooh, Shelter! I think Akiyama Mio could work really nicely if you're going for the cute-but-not-smiley small mouth look. ^^

 

I JUST found Shelter a couple days ago and ADORED it, so I'm really excited to see this project come to fruition!

 

Mio or Alice would indeed work well if you're up for hunting down a limited; out of standards, an 09 is probably closest. In fact, it may be possible to get the mouth a lot closer with some modding. . .

 

For eyes, have you checked Lizanna, White Dolly Story, or Arietta Project? Alternately, Ersa Flora should be coming back soon so you could get custom eyes from her. Actually, Somonul Studios here will do commissions and does eyes periodically, so you may also want to look to him if you want super-accurate eyes.

Personally I think the Lullaby Poem is probably the best out of that list, but that's just me.

 

Edit: I think DDS suits her better than DD.

contrary to what I originally said, I would not be opposed to have her with a smiling facial expression.

Also, going with what Poofiemus I have decided a DDS body would suit her best. (not sure how to tag people yet sorry)

 

EDIT: for smiling, I'm almost thinking haruka niimi because of how I think she kind of looks happy and sad at the same time. like, I know ddh-06 would fit her also but I feel like the "personality" of haruka's face would go better with rin's character. and I would prefer a limited over a standard head. What do you guys think?

Oh, Haruka Niimi really DOES have potential! Especially if you got her a custom faceup with subtle, painted-in pursed lips--Rin doesn't seem to like to close her mouth, lol. Mio would probably then take second option, though in her case adding slight smile lines to her faceup would be the way to go. Haruka Niimi would be less expensive to get your hands on, though.

 

Another one for smiling: Shimamura Uzuki, who incidentally actually comes on a DDS.

Yeah I agree on the hair. I can't tell if it's supposed to be red, pink, burgundy? it keeps changing haha

When push comes to shove, this'll be YOUR version of Rin as you see her, so you may as well go with the head and hair color that makes you happiest. And if you love Haruka so definitively over Uzuki, then she's definitely going to be worth waiting for.

 

BTW, dunno if you noticed, but Cauldy's got a Lullaby Poem GO running right now. If you were leaning towards red or burgundy, they've got some acceptable candidates.

he decided on Haruka Niimi for the head. does anyone know what would be a reasonable price to pay for that head sculpt? i don't really know and I just wanted to ask people what they thought was an okay price. thanks!

Hi all! After quite some time, I have decided to resume this project.

I am currently trying to figure out Rin's outfit. I have figured out how to get the pink undershirt and the striped skirt but I am having some trouble with the white cardigan/over-shirt. Does anyone have any ideas? Any help is appreciated, thanks!

Update: I have ordered Rin's wig and it should arrive within a few weeks

 

I'm so glad this project isn't dead! Were you able to get Haruka Niimii for the head already?
