finnleo Posted November 13, 2016 Well this time its a bit of a revisit to the beginning days of me hobby, as Feena herself came to the peculiar age of nine, and by Christmas it would mark nine years of DD's personally with feena as a starting point. Currently I've decided to do a weird downsizing measure of putting any lady that can be safely displayed in their default outfits (or without any more damage) is put in said outfit for now, thus limiting my options. But that doesn't mean I cant redo photo's with the defaults from the times when I only had a very limited camera, thus Feena was a nice place to start redoing photos (which I actually already did start with Beat come to think of it.. but Beat is Beat... ) Her outfit is showing its age, and the brightwork was badly faded and corroded, but I managed to coax some life back into them with some polishing... The old girl's hobgoblin emerald eyes are always a source of endless grief since they are spectacular in person in true bekkankou style, but murder to photograph without them looking like black voids. But hope you like feena077 feena078 feena079 feena080 feena081 feena082 feena083 feena084 feena085 feena086 feena087 feena088 feena089 Final omake picture with what I had to work with when the old girl came about... feena090 Thanks for looking... TheWhiteRabbit Posted November 13, 2016 Aw, feena looks quite nice in her default set up. You did a good job hiding any apparent signs of age, I don't see any her eyes look lovely, I see how they can be hard to work with for sure. Happy 9 years together! Gabriel Posted November 13, 2016 Ah, Feena Fam Earthlight! Finnleo, I hope you don't mind me using this thread for a little bit of reminiscence. Before I get started, I definitely want to say how much I like the images. They've taken me on a beautiful trip down memory lane. I have to admit that 83 is my favorite. To paraphrase a song, "a glimpse of stocking is oh so shocking." It seems for a brief window over 10 years ago that Feena was the IT girl of the figure world. It was then that I discovered the character through this figure. http://myfigurecollection.net/item/465 At the time, I had been buying much cheaper figures such as the Monsieur Bome line which individual entries at the time had MSRPs of about $30 USD. But that Feena statue by Atelier Sai was over $80 USD! It seemed incredibly expensive at the time. Eventually, I caved and bought it. For some time, that Feena figure was the centerpiece of my figure collection. I never did learn anything about the character or her source material. For me, she was merely the princess at the core of my display. Sometime back then I came across this image http://myfigurecollection.net/picture/56256&ref=item%3A11151 . When I found it, there was nothing associated with the image to indicate what it was, so while I knew it was a doll, I had no idea of Dollfie Dreams as a larger thing. Nowadays my Atelier Sai Feena occupies a second tier display. She's still the centerpiece princess there out of nostalgic fondness, but she long ago ceded her jewel of my collection status to Hatsune Miku VN02, Dark Angel Olivia, Chua Churam, Ignis of Eternal Winter, and Saber Lily Distant Caliburn. Unlike Miku, Ignis, and Saber Lily, I never purchased any alternate figures of Feena. And the DD version? Feena never became a grail for me. However, the DD version did plant the seed and set me on the ultimate collision course to purchase my own doll in 2015. Still, I wouldn't mind snagging her outfit and wig to dress up one of my girls in. Maybe one day.
finnleo Posted November 15, 2016 thank you very many.. @whiterabbit There is actually some deliberate hiding of things. but the damages are there. Feena's outfit has one big design flaw and its the gloves, although im not sure is it due to the deletion of the slim hands for girls that came with gloves at this point... as a result the gloves tear between the thumb and index finger.. I fixed that, but then had to fix the fix eventually. the corset is a bit threadbare, and the tiara is pretty much black on the back size due to corrosion of the plating. @Gabriel heh, I dont mind... actually when I got this feena I had some debate with myself over getting that Atelier sai edition of feena ... then this came around, I think it was the second batch of delivered dolls combined to some loose funds when I made the choise... a bit of a problematic choice since she stuck out quite a bit from my usual 1/8 scale figure stock at the time. It is a bit peculiar since Dawning blue isnt exactly a masterpiece of writing, and feena as a character is a bit stereotypical along side the general style of how Bekkankou draws heads for that matter.. but the dude knows how to make stunning looking outfits when he wants to. Deep inside I was slightly hoping that there would have been a new August/Aria collaboration to make Miyaguni Akari out of the latest august effort, but the time of Volks doing such source collaborations is probably over.
