re-sizing patterns

I feel like I've read this on here before, but I couldn't find it. I was also thinking it would be nice to have tips all in one thread.

 

I'm wondering if anyone knows what the percentage would be to scale up a 1/4 pattern to 1/3.

I think it's pretty simple, like an easy print percentage

( I know seems simple but I no do math)

 

I think it would also be great to add any other tips for re-sizing any patterns *Human patterns *

Personally the one time I tried this I just strung up a pattern sheet up, and photographed it from a suitable distance at the highest detail setting,

(pattern blurred since it was copyrighted.

 

then as you already suggested, did some trial and error resizing with photoshop on the different pieces, using the sleeve length as the best bet for the main size alteration percentage.

 

Never did finish it but I got tolerable results on the first try:

 

 

The trouble with 1:1 patterns is that the suggested sewing order might have be the re-thinked since what techniques work in full size probably cant be applied in miniature form... like sleeves.

Thank you! I didn't actually think of that! Using the sleeve is a good way to gauge the size.

 

I suspect human patterns are also not quite the same relative size either. And could potentially get bulky.

 

But I saw a Princess Zelda pattern....seeing as how I have 3 Zelda's...well you know

1/4 -> 1/3 = 125%

1/3 -> 1/4 = 75%
