2016 Holiday Card Exchange

Hello everyone! I hope everyone is as excited for the holiday season as I am!

 

In the spirit of the season, DesertAngel proposed a holiday card exchange. The idea is, as you may have guessed, that anyone who is interested will be assigned a partner to exchange a card with this year. If everyone who is interested would please fill out the form I am leaving below you will be randomly assigned a partner. If everyone who is interested please fill out a form before December 8th (and the cards sent out by December 16th), that should leave enough time for the cards to be sent out.

 

All dd's are encouraged to participate!

Are you wanting a letter for you, your dollfie dream or are you open to both: I think I'd love a letter for me and Uchuu, meaning like the two of us together! So you'd be writing to us both as a whole, no need for two cards!

A brief overview of your girl, if applicable: Uchuu ( a Snow Miku but made into my own character ) Is a cute and cool tomboyish girl with a very happy go lucky personality, she's kind of like an new born kitty and loves seeing the new world and trying out new things and getting into my stuff T-T. She comes from outer space from another planet that's much colder then ours and came to our planet for unknown reasons, probably because she was bored. She studied up about Earth by reading manga and watching anime so she legitly thinks that is how humans are, so she is instantly shunned or thought to be some crazy otaku, which she is to be honest lmao. She likes cold things and cold foods and needs to be refrigerated quite often, she also sleeps in the freezer over night. ( LOL Not in reality I'd be afraid to mess her up LMAO ) She likes polar bears and penguins too much, has a scarf obsession and her favorite food is ice cream and her favorite hobby is sleeping. She also loves winter and stargazing alot hence why her name is Uchuu ( Space ).Her nickname I give her is UFO-Chan LOL. She lives with me and treats me like I'm some lower species and she's a superior brat, but all you have to do is show her scary alien movies and she'll never want to leave your side hahaha. But I do love to spoil her cause she is darn adorable..!! ( Picture Below! )

A brief overview of your girl, if applicable: "Akane" is a Rin Tohsaka ver 2. She is my own character, Has purple eyes and red hair.

She is a generally mature girl, Who can be a bit tsundere at times. She is 22 years old and goes to college, Has a part time job at a maid cafe much to her dismay and lives with her grandfather, younger brother and mom. Her family is struggling and somewhat poor, She comes from a long line of Miko & Geki so she has inherited abilities to see spirits and can cleanse them. Overall she has a lot on her plate and is often stressed easily by her many responsibilities as she is very hard working and trying to support her family while juggling school and her tending to the family shrine as well. With new people she can be nice and friendly but once you get to know her you realize she distances herself a lot , She can be too serious, strict and pretty opinionated and a little headstrong but overall comes off as very responsible, mature and kind.

A brief overview of your girl, if applicable: Miku is my little girl and is a sweetheart, but can be a tease. She loves her plush Cardcaptor Sakura and takes her everywhere. She is smart, but doesn't rub it in others' faces. She loves being around me and tries to help sometimes.

Any restrictions or concerns such as terrible allergies, strict holiday preferences or if you are underage and wanting another partner who is, as well: No Allergies, except to bad moods. We do Christmas in my house but we welcome others, I just don't know much about the others. No issues with age.

Are you willing to mail a letter out of country: As long as I can get the stamp at my local USPS PO self serve kiosk.

Are you interested in a pen pal after the holidays or as a one time thing: Either. Pen pals would be fun, but I'll admit upfront I have a history at not being good at it. Maybe if it's more for DDs I'd do better. But overseas would make the pen pal thing a bit harder.

Autumn: Bright, happy girl. A bit of a girly girl, that likes pink and pastel colors, dresses, and very much into fantasy themes. Likes dragons and knights in particular, her favorite knight being Saber. A bit childish.

Sakura: A little mischievous girl. Loves playing harmless(?) pranks on people. Much more of a tomboy than her sister, she prefers shorts and t-shirts over dresses. Very curious and a bit of a troublemaker.

Tahquil is best described as very dry and cynical. In the game she was created she is a healthy 270 years old and has mastered the arts of alchemy, physiology, shadowmancy, aeonics, most of the known languages and walks freely between the planes. Until of course a ritual goes awry and she finds herself trapped in the vinyl body of a tiny fashion doll on the plane of her creator.

 

There is nothing cute or sweet about this girl other than her soon to be appearance. That is, when she has an appearance (still headless ). Expect to be disappointed.

OK. I'm planning on sending out 10 holiday photo cards. The card will be addressed to your DD(s) at the address you provide. The card will include a brief inscription but not a letter. (I'm so blasted busy I will barely have time to get the cards out, alone.)

 

For me, it's a "one time deal" but I suppose there's always next year, too.

 

And, yes, I will mail outside the US. But, if I use nice stamps, there is a possibility that the card could be stolen in transit. (Yes, I have had this happen before.)

My Kagamine Rin is a mischevious princess who is more cunning than she looks. She loves pastel things, especially pink. I didnt expect pink to be her colour, but it definitely is - most of her clothes are pink. She's a "girly girl" but also tough.

I love christmas cards, so a holiday card would be nice.

Brief History: Lucy came into the House a few years ago. We don't know for sure where she came from. She told me New Mexico but for some reason my memory of that time is fuzzy. She just arrived with her suit case and said she was staying and asked me if I served snacks between meals, oh and how large of a fridge and pantry did I have. She is constantly hungry and can smell food a mile away. Lucy is very nice and polite and quite innocent and child like. She's also very much into aliens and has founded her own club of which she is currently the only member.

I originally started this thread on another board and then someone hijacked it. (No, I am not upset. )

But, my original intent was to exchange cards with 10 other DDs. I think I'm going to stick with my plan. The rest of the group may do as they please.

 

So, if you want to exchange cards, please send a card from your DD -- preferably with a picture and signature. That's what I'm doing. (Three cards are already spoken for!) Send me a private message with your DD's name and the delivery address. No long messages, please, because they will fill up my mailbox.

 

If you are outside the US, please let me know if I should use somewhat fancier stamps. I have had delivery problems to some countries because mail sometimes gets stolen for the stamps. If I use regular postage, I think there is less chance of that.

 

Once I get seven more people, I'll post here to let people know the list is full.

I am not pushing Walgreen's drug store. (Hell, I don't even *like* Walgreen's.) But, that's where I had my cards made. If anyone is thinking about following my example, here's how to do it:

 

Save anywhere between 1 and 8 photographs on a thumb drive. Go to the photo service counter at Walgreen's and ask where their card making computer is located. It will have a touch screen that will let you select "Cards"----> then, "Christmas Cards." There will be about 500 different designs of cards there. Some designs will let you select only one photo. Other designs will let you use as many as a half dozen photos.

 

Pick out the card you want to create. The computer will then prompt you to connect the thumb drive to the terminal. Select the photographs you want to use in the card. The machine will also let you crop the photo, adjust color, rotate the picture. (Ask one of the sales staff for assistance if you have trouble.) Then, select the number of cards you want and order.

 

In my case, the cards were ready to go in an hour.

 

I went with a 5"x7" postcard design. $1.79 per card, with the envelope. If you go with a folded card or a fancy, metallic trim, I suspect it will cost more.

 

This was a new experience for me. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

(( Umm..That is also a really nice idea DesertAngel and please dont take it like anyone hijacked your idea.. Holiday Card Exchanges can be anyone idea, some people might do it differently then others. To be honest I only have enough money to send a card to one person, and maybe a rematch if someone doesn't get a card in return and I also really wanted the cards to be traditional pen pal style where we write it handwritten and such.. Not computer generated.. I don't have enough money to send 10 different cards to 10 different Dollfie dreams... Can we please do the other idea about the numbers being matched ? Thank you.. I just personally prefer it because my wallet isn't that deep this christmas. ))

A brief overview of your girl, if applicable: Gonna be the odd one out here with a boy lol. Miles is a modded DDH-06/Parabox 45cm hybrid. He has blue eyes and red brown hair. He's a wizard in-training who ended up in my home after a freak spellcasting accident...Miles is 12 and this is his first holiday season! He's quite charmed by the idea of all the things that go on during this time. His eyes almost sparkle as bright as the decorative lights outside at the thought of putting ornaments on a tree...Miles is also a bookworm and loves to read. Aside from that...his big thing is that he loves animals. You will never see him outside of clothing that has an animal theme. Cat ears on hoods are his signature favorite. But he likes it all, really. Animal prints, pictures of animals, animal hats...he really can't get enough of stuff like that. Despite being so into reading, he's not particularly the quiet type or anything though. He's actually rather social and hopes to make new friends in this strange un-magical world he's found himself in lol.

I'm not severely allergic, so don't stress about trace amounts or anything. It just gives me an uncomfortable mild reaction if I have full-on hazelnut flavors. Other than that, no strict preferences. Except maybe to keep any photos included or such PG. If I got a nice photo, I'd like to have it out for the holidays.

I'm only doing "one" but to ten different people. There's no expectation that *everyone* do ten.

I thought this was a secret santa style giftcard giving where everyone is assigned a partner in secret?

Idea number one - We are going to raffle out numbers and pair people up. So you don't know who your partner will be until we raffle out your partner's number. Then we will message you and your partner saying that you got each other and you can send each other your addresses so you don't have to share that with everyone just your partner you get matched up with.

 

Idea number two - Or we can do it Reddit Style where for each number we raffle out a number for them to get matched with, Etoile, Pandy or Me can receive everyone's addresses through messages then assign the addresses to the people who get matched, Meaning that you'll be sending a letter to someone who you know who it is, but you don't know who will send you a letter.

 

No person will receive a double letter unless somehow their match doesn't end up sending them a letter, then we have a rematch santa for them for both ideas.

 

What does everyone prefer? Idea number one or two? Please let us know!

Idea 1....

Idea one was really what I was going with.... I think that trying to change it so late into it may not be a good idea, though i will go with whatever everyone votes for. The reason why I originally set it up like the raffle was so that everyone would know who their partner was and so that did not have to give their addresses to me and I in turn give it to their partner, unless they preferred it that way. A few people had mentioned they felt uncomfortable just giving their addresses out like that and I could see why they would be.

 

The reason that I went with the raffle as well, was so that anyone who wanted to participate, could and it wasn't a limited number of people who could join.

 

I hope I cleared this up a bit. Please, everyone, feel free to pm if you should have any questions.

I like the way it's being done now. I agree that it's a bit late to be changing things up. But I'll go with whatever as long as the process to get a match is only two steps.

 

Send address to someone on here --> Get a partner/partner's address in return.

 

That's all I really want out of it.

Yep I agree I think it's too complicated to change things at this point. Everyone has filled out their profile. And also if we were to change now that makes things confusing. Also privacy is very important to people so I think the original plan is what works best

 

As a side note we have a plan that if for some reason the partner you get paired with flakes or your card gets lost in the mail (providing evidence within a certain time frame) we will send out a card to the person who did not receive one. This way it's a fair exchange for everyone.

 

If you would like to participate, We ask kindly that you PLEASE fill out the profile format provided or we won't be able to raffle you, As your partner wouldn't know if you have allergies or who to write to and what kind of card you want ect.

 

To remind everyone , This is a 1x1 exchange. I have gotten a comment from someone saying they want to send several cards out and another ten. I want you to know thst you are totally welcomed to go and to do that on your own time and I feel that is extremely nice of you and kind to think of that many people. I would encourage it if anything.

 

But to keep things fair to everyone here we are going by 1x1 in this thread and to stay simple like our original plan, otherwise it wouldn't be fair to everyone who didn't recieve extra cards and it would make things rather confusing, especially if they got lost ect. Plus I think we would all feel a little bad if some received more cards then others, For the sender as well. Though, Nothing says you can't always make another exchange on another thread too! That might be a nice thing to do and you are always welcomed to still participate in this one we just ask that if you'd like to join our's, Please sincerely fill out the profile to participate and be willing to send out just one card.

 

Part of the point of this exchange is kind of also getting to know someone/brighten their day and giving out a thoughtful card with a personal touch I think it takes some of the fun out of our personal exchange if we did so many cards at once. So let's continue in the fun here and we have just a few days now until sign ups close this week~ be sure to let your friends know if they would like to participate soon!

Yup personally I agree with you guys, its too late to change it and it's much easier with the original idea for everyone so yeah lets continue doing that then!
