Help with a burn mark? :(

Recommended Posts

Serisu

So I had the worst thing happen to me today. I was doing some stain treatment on one of my doll's legs and I left the room with the lamp trained on the benzoyl peroxide spot and left to run some errands, planning on cleaning it up later. When I came back, the lamp had unbalanced and come really close and burned the cream! It left a small burn mark on her leg.

Is there anyway to remove this? > A< I'm horrified and upset! Should I try more benzoyl peroxide?

I have no personal experience with this but if its burned the vinyl i dont think theres anything to save it.

K2 is the king of knowledge though, hopefully he comes along soon haha

You could buy a new vinyl part or just think of it as a beautiful birthmark or battle scar that tells your dolls life story

I have more dollfies than my age in years *×*

You're probably right that it's permanent! I'm going to look into buying a new part.

But, the original stain is gone so there's that?

Seconding this. It would look really cool actually, and you'd have a neat story behind it.

A burn is an actual chemical change in the material, not just one material embedded within another material, like a typical stain, or one material sitting on the surface like dirt or grime. There is no way to "unburn" something.

You will have to decide what/how you want to treat this. How much does it bother you? Is it in an area frequently hidden by clothing? Is the burn deep enough that it significantly changed the surface texture of the vinyl?

If you wish to get rid of the burned area you would need to replace the part. Alternately you could mask the area with an opaque paint technique. You can try to paint it out by matching the skin tone, make it a tattoo (as suggested), consider it a birthmark, etc.

I'm currently dealing with the same problem. It happened exactly the same way When it happened, the spot was almost black. I put a benzacne on it and after few weeks it turned yellow.

What I noticed is the fact, that only the area under the cream was burnt - the vinyl around it was ok. That gave me hope, that this is only the burnt cream sucked into a vinyl, so I continued with de-staining. I gave up the process for some time, but now I resumed it and hope it would get better. I will definitely let you know of the results.
