Post processing

When i just had my point and shoot i edited heavily in photoshop 7 (the only one i have)

now that i got my dslr in January.

I pretty much only edit in raw and never open photoshop 7 anymore.

I wish i had cs5 and the raw that comes with it, or lightroom even.

But i use a free program called Scarab Darkroom.

it was frustrating watching my photo teacher show us everything in cs5 and lightroom and not being able to do it at home ><;

I picked up Lightroom 4 this week, immediately had to update it to 4.1 so it would have proper support for my Fuji X-Pro1. So far all I've done with it was import approximately 2600 pictures from my A77 and added keyword tags to most of them, which took about 30 minutes to do what took days with Sony's PMB. After I run my Spyder screen calibrator, I plan to start attempting some actual processing.

My previous attempts at post processing were done with Sony's Image Data Converter 4 on my old laptop with a worn out screen. Somehow I still managed to make them look nice, so I'm curious to see what I come up with now that I have a good laptop screen, software, and a screen calibrator.

Side note: Spyder is crap for me. I hate it. makes my LCD looks far worse lol.

I invest in a good 24" and 30" IPS panel instead. Haha. never look back on Calibration. But I am still trying to reach my ultimate goal that is a 17" Macbook Pro

Hopefully I have better luck with the Spyder then, if not, at least this laptop's screen is already pretty nice. It's a 15.5" LED lit IPS panel. Once I'm out of "limbo" I may look into a secondary monitor of the larger variety. Personally, I can't stand fruit branded products, but if it's what you happen to like, I hope you reach your goal sometime.

In my opinion, if you have an ips panel, you don't have much to calibrate since the colour is near accurate already haha. fruit branded productss to save my time in colour trouble solving lolz

I use the Spyder calibrator and really love the thing. I, like most people, tended to have my brightness turned up way too high and didn't realize it. When I first calibrated it I felt like it was too dark but after a 10-15 minutes my eyes adjusted and it's wonderful. Much less eye strain as well.
